  1. Well, not for nothing, MooMix1, but the first link I provided shows that some of your concerns have been addressed in the design, but that's a good point about a plane crashing into it. I think there is a long way to go in terms of making it safe for those scenarios you mentioned, but I wouldn't reject it outright. Check out 4:36 in this video. Interesting theory behind airflow in the dome.
  2. Helix Interchange..

Cool piece of engineering for working with a limited amount of space.
  3. I think he's asking for something that makes Sims travel to the next city tile to work. As far as I know there are certain pathfinding modds in the NAM that may help. However, even those wont force a Sim to commute to a job that is far away if there is an open job within the Sim's own city. I think good city planning is the key here.
  4. Show us your Region!

Cool work, Cheeseman. Here's my version of Eaton:
  5. "See that hill over there is a problem"

Very nice city you have here. Well, if you really can't blast that hill to smitherines, I think a unified subway system between Old and New Calgary would work nicely.  Sure an extension of the bullet train may look cool, but in reality people would rather have a one-seat ride to their destiantions instead of switching between transit networks (cuts down on commute time ).  At any rate continue with the great work.
  6. I think the ultimate example of a good suburban retrofitting is Mashpee Commons in Mashpee, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It is designed as an actual town more than a shopping center, with second floor apartments, soon to be surrounded by smaller one- and two-family houses. http://www.mashpeecommons.com/development.php http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashpee_Commons
  7. If anything, it might give us a little more info on the cause of global warming. I'm not too worried.
  8. Sgt Pepper's BATs

Possibly a small hospital or a prison? Anyway, keep up the great work.
  9. obsolete RTMT GLR Transitions

Thank you! I really needed these! 5/5
  10. Real World Nuclear Power Plant Set

    Thank you very much!
  11. Help with SC4 crash

Is your computer in a well-ventilated area? If it's in a cabinet or closed-in place instead of out in the open, it could lead to the heat problems Mootilda's talking about.
  12. No Sound

The only thing I can suggest is to go a step further and uninstall both programs and see if the sound returns after each uninstall. It's probably not a hardware problem if it is only with Sim City.
  13. Show Us Your Suburbs

Looking good, mb257can. I like the little "main street" you have there.
  14. well, aside from the occaissonal CTD, there isn't really much to get annoyed about, in my opinion. Unless you play on the easy level, you really dont have to deal with those pop ups. Just ignore those little things and appreciate it for the great city builder that it is.
  15. NYBT 130 Liberty Street

no, i'm pretty sure that this building is the Deutsche Bank (former Banker's Trust) Building. Liberty Street and Liberty plaza are two different places.
  16. NYBT 130 Liberty Street

awesome! My mom worked there for Bankers Trust back in the day. and thanks for re-uploading it.
  17. Zones wont face Tram-in-Road

Thank you everyone for your help. SC4Boy, thanks for reminding me about the ctrl key. I ended up pressing ctrl, alt, and shift in different combinations until the zone faced the tram-in-road - not a very sound strategy, but it got the job done. CaptCity, thanks for your input; I'll definitely do that from now on as I develop my streetcar suburb.
  18. Schellingen City Region

very nice. will probably use for my next region!
  19. Show us your Dams and Reservoirs

That's beautiful Heblem. And I like the quaintness of yours, Nardo69. How do you make the height difference in the two bodies of water?
  20. American Politics

I agree with your idea on the choice of words. They are not "man-made disasters" as much as they are ruthless killings. I believe that the bureaucracy is slowing down our progress in catching these people. With the highly-trained military that America and its allies have and all the technology we use, we should have gotten Bin Laden within the last 9 years. Now, I am all for respecting other cultures, but a lot of resources have been wasted in being sensitive to Muslim beliefs and practices. In my opinion, when we are attacked, we go in there with full force, get our job done, and get out.
  21. City Government

It is very true, which is why government should be minimal. As many functions as possible should be transferred to the private sector, as long as it does not pose a risk to the citizens (i.e. police and fire department should probably be left to the government, but a service like sanitation or street cleaning could be contracted out).
  22. Show us your... Islands,

great islands. Its a different side of Sim City
  23. Capitalism versus Socialism

I don't know if this has been said or not, but I support phasing out the current U.S. welfare system in favor of a system that more avidly encourages people to find work. Similar to the Wisconsin Works program in that state. Wisconsin Works (W-2) I believe that this is a semi-socialist policy that actually encourages capitalism. Just my 2 cents.
  24. Show us your Military Areas

very nice everyone! maybe I'll post mine soon..
  25. MORAINE

nice photoshopping of the farms. looking forward to the next update!
