This plaza is a proof of concept where I'm testing my new models. It's the first piece of a my mega city (I have attached the project below)

@Krisman @Samu64d Great job! @SneakyDeaky Thanks! It is based on this palace @Brian J. B.I don't have a Patreon yet, I doubt people will subscribe . I was planning to open one to upload civilian ships and my terrain mods, but I haven't decided yet. The model is a custom request so it's a private BAT for now. If I release it, I'd have to export gardens and a fountain to make the lot but I don't have those models right now so it would be a lot of work for me.

Great pics @CorinaMarie! Hopefully setup of that mod is fairly easy, as I am hoping to install it and also capture some similar shots soon.

an update from the 16th, current events perhaps taking up too much of my time. That wonderful new Residential Ploppable cheat ready tidies up the place, repetition in the right places. I'm still not quite sure where that steam is coming from, I should look into that...

I've finally restored Corillion from CB's backup and gave this 3D thinger a try. I read all of this thread first and then wound up doing something I've not seen mentioned (or I missed it), but for a top down view using 85 for the Pitch just made it look weird with most of the trees disappearing. (Might be cause I've only got the original Maxis ones.) I kept reducing that in increments of 5 and I liked it more and more. Not only did it bring out the trees better, but it showed more of the city tile. Once I could see the great beyond grid, I then tweaked a degree at a time. Zoom 1 (farthest out) SizeOf 0 (just a wee bit more farther out) CameraPitch 34 (can see all of the tile front to back) CameraYaw 0 (straightens to face head on) Auto Color Correction in PSE2 (makes them way more vibrant, perhaps a wee bit too much but better than dull) For the rest I didn't make notes, but like many peeps posted: Pitch in the range of 10 to 30 and Yaw 5 to 20.

Absolutely phenomenal work!!!! Will you be making these buildings public? Or do you have a Patreon that your loyal fans can contribute to?

Good catch. I've looked into this and it was quite an obscure issue, but I've found it's with the site's data cache. There was trouble with certain URLs which contained an ID number, including all the activity streams, award categories, and clubs. I've made a few tweaks which work around the issue, and ought to improve loading performance of pages. The only concern I have is whether it keeps reverting back again, but I'm monitoring it and so far so good. Ah yes. This is actually an intended adjustment, as we had bots crawling pages for reaction URLs. This was leading to increased server load, since each time the reactions list is loaded, that queries the database. When dozens were doing this at the same time, it sure mounted up. So now the reaction totals display as a guest, but only show the who reacted list when signed in. That sounds odd. I'm not able to reproduce this issue, but it's possible it was cache related while I was fixing that up. Is this still occurring on the homepage sliders? Appreciated, as it helps to have a watchful eye to notice these issues. Thanks again.

I needed another region to develop ... so a host of changes later I'm quite happy with the result.

Thanks Cori, I'll have to mess with the settings more. It seemed like many of the buildings I'm using didn't like the settings, like the rural seaport and some of the historic harbor pieces.

Hmmm... That was quick... Got another just now: 2024-11-26 20:19:02 UTC Los Angeles Cloudflare Ray ID: 8e8c92354bfe2b62 Right-clicking and selecting 'Open in new tab' option on the 'Show Us Your Energy' link in the Showcase/SimTopical section on the homepage. Only tab open (homepage) before trying to open the new one.Refreshing cleared this one up. Using Edge, as usual. Have noticed a possible pattern with mine... Haven't gone back to check every instance, but seems to be more than a few happen right after or while opening a new tab using right-click menu... Maybe...

I wonder if there is a plugin to resolve the trash issue in the game. As someone that wants to keep the environment and land value polls high (two areas that seem to go and stay low relatively early in the game). Thanks

Thanks Cori, I just have steam version but if it's just a drag & drop into my plugins even I should be able to do that without breaking something... I hope.

Very easy, especially if you have the GOG version of SC4. Just drop @memo's DLL file in the installation folder's Plugins under SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition:

I am OK with it. Good to know it was intentional. No, It isn't. It was fixed sometime yesterday.

Yep. Since they are fully 3D upon creation (sans any little caveats about exact verbiage), the automata will look very good no matter which Pitch or Yaw we use. I have an idea to get zoomed in close and try to capture the two tractor automata @Raymond7cn made for me. Ofc, that'll need to be staged in front of a farm. As it happens, no. I was trying so many and then culled the best few pics from a bunch of screenshots. I do, however, suspect the Yaw is 10° and the Pitch is very likely 20° or 25°.

All these shots are great! But these two shots are freakin' awesome! It's like I'm "back on the farm," as they say! (We should never have left, right?) I haven't had any more time to test this mod much the last few months, but it would seem most automata looks great? I keep saying I'm going to sit down and try and come up with a list of content that looks best, maybe I will find the time. Edit: Did you happen to take note of which settings you used for this angle in the two shots I quoted? It's really cool.

OMG!!! What you are always doing is amazing!! I'm a novice, what is this building based on??

So life like, unexpected from Cori's region. Good job! I don't know how your PC can handle this (mine can, but it's struggling a lot), but this is just pure awesomeness! Edit: my keyboard suddenly autocorrects to expected lol

@philforhockey51 Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I'll probably add a square-ish brick structure.

Started fooling around with roof junk as my texture making efforts weren't going anywhere. I'll probably change the roof access building to something different. I don't think it fits well.

One of the things I always wanted to build was a lot that would allow trains to run on the slopes so that you could reduce the real estate needed to get a lot of busy tracks through a tight area, the slopes around a set of tracks that were on a higher or lower level would often just be wasted space. So I'm doing it finally... I'm also using the opportunity to make a much deeper dive into things like transit switches and enabling, things I want to do but never really learned before. I've taken a lot that was a HRW/RRW station and converted it and it works - passenger rail, freight trains, and HSR all run through it. The only problem I am having is that while the passenger rail and freight rail pass through perfectly, the HSR trains are still stopping on the lot and I'm not sure why. So I'm still working on it. And I'm working on tunnels because I always work on tunnels...

The symmetry sounds neat! We all need and have our own little city-building quirks. We play SC4, which represents the pinnacle of Maxis' achievements; it's practically a requirement for us to be quirky. =D Aka reticulate your splines!
