New York - Manhattan

NEW YORK - MANHATTAN
Manhattan is New York City's central business center and major population center. Since it's an island, Manhattan can't expand outward, therefore, everyone builds up with huge skyscrapers. Let's take a look!

The World Trade Center Complex is now being rebuilt with numerous towers and memorial parks after the original twin towers were destroyed on 9/11/01.

Rockefeller Center is home to NBC and the GE Building gives a great view of midtown Manhattan.

In downtown, the area around battery park is filled with tall buildings built on top of manmade land.

The Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan's Museum Mile was designed by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright and was one of his last projects.

The Brooklyn Bridge was the longest suspension bridge when it was completed and continues to link Brooklyn and Manhattan 100+ years later.

Midtown Manhattan includes many interesting towers, the Citigroup Center near the Upper East Side is one of the area's most distinct.

The Empire State Building was built during the Great Depression 20 blocks from the financial center. It was destined to fail, but it shines as the city's beacon.
