Lake Pointless. Suburbia

1.

An overview of this part of the shores of Lake Pointless. These are fringe suburbs of this small city of 60,000 people. The lake is called Lake Pointless because rivers seem to flow in and out of it in a way that suggests it is basically a strange inlet of the sea, but we try not to focus on the natural history and geology, as most of what follows in these is similarly unrealistic in that sense. :)

Farmland on the fringe of the town, trying to achieve a natural feel is sometimes quite hard with the scales involved in Simcity 4.

A lovely community, Sc4 and agriculture don't do so well but I think you have done well. I like the mix of different suburban houses, helps to add variety

@tankmank thank you very much

@Golhbul this is the JPN sidewalk mod. It is complicated to use. I like parts of it like the fences, not compatible with everyones plugins I suspect :) edit - this is the link to the driving on right side version

A very nice looking suburban/rural mixture. Love the very liberal use of curved networks here, especially those curved dirt street by the farms!

I really like it! Beautiful Pictures, you took a huge step up with your mmp work, very good job. :thumb:  I like what you do in 14, 12 is a great view and I really like the way the area in 16 came out

Thank you, needs some more interesting parking lots in my opinion, wonder where I can find some? :ooh::) I only really put the dirt curves in there because I recently discovered them in the rural roads bit and I liked them too

Thank you, I'd still like to find some MMP 'mud' the dirts from heblem really make a difference to leaving an area and having it not be just 'grass' but i'd also like to use some thicker, darker, more minging muds if anyone knows of any!

Thank you, it does seem a little too nice compared wIth what I was aiming for, which was picturesque but slightly neglected - maybe remote and lacking investment, but I seem always to end up gentrifying large swathes of my cities. It's a shame some of the lower wealth suburban homes (especially the growable diagonals) don't grow for longer as I bulldoze a lot to avoid repetition, but pretty soon end up with lots of middle wealth housing growing at the same time. I know exactly what you mean about the green field, that is my least favourite picture in the update.

The fences are part of the sidewalk and I have this installed:

I see you have been busy -- :thumb:

#2  - Is very nice.  I especially like the way you "dot" small clusters of housing here and there in a seemingly random manner.

#8  - What's life without a good winery -- right??

#10 - Nice use of the road curves and the diagonal housing.  You seem to do very well with diagonals.  I have problems finding suitable content.  My be a phobia of mine.

#11 -  Tariely is right about this one -- but I think a little bit of work with some MMP's around the edge of the field will both separate and highlight the crop.

#20 - I really like the use of the "UK Suburbans" in this one.  I can't seem to get the stinkers to grow!

VERY NICE !  A pleasant tour of a pleasant little town.

I love how colorful and vibrant the city looks, great use of diagonal lots & buildings too. Only thing that looks a little off is how jagged that dirt farm is in pics 7 & 11. It stands out more then the edges of the other farms because of the contrast in texture between it and the terrain mod.

Thank you very much - I agree that a winery improves everything! - I'm not sure that grapes would grow in the climate imagined for the region, but you could probably say that for a few of the crops!

The UK suburbans grew very easily for me, but at the time they grew I took out all the mattb325 low-density residential (of which I have a lot) from my plugins. I think it is likely that these outcompete the UK suburbans.

Thank you very much, yes I agree very much with the issues in that pic!

Green and good, the diagonals are a little rough, but overall well done!

Thankyou - please let me know what you mean about the diagonals looking rough, I would love to improve them!

Lovely design with those diagonal roads and also great MMP work!

Thank you very much - you haven't seen the rest of the city tile yet, much of it was inspired by your own work :)

Nice coastal side countrytown ! Great use of mmp´s. UK suburbia houses nicely blended in with a semy forest like landscape; mostly seperated rural makes a nice balance in between town and agriculture. Urbanisation not far around the corner with some bigger comercial businesses Pic 7A, 10 and 15  and seting up,  Downtown main street Pic 20C very welll excuted, well done !
