Olsènes - Lower City

Hello everyone!

First of all, maybe some of you already know it, I have a bad news: the city is pox poxed. But anyway, I decided to still play the city and show you pictures until i'm done with it.

So, here we are:

17. OLSENES - LOWER CITY

Today, I show you the lower part of the city centre, just next to the Högne river.

1. Let's begin our tour with the Sainte-Catherine Square and the eponym church just next to the river. 1459953059-26-2.jpg

2. It's here that was built the first bridge - the Pont Vieux (Old Bridge) - between Olsènes and Hollogne. Since it was the only bridge crossing the river during centuries in the region, the city became an important commercial crossroad. 1459953069-26-1.jpg

3. 1459953367-26-5.jpg

4.1459953813-26-4.jpg

5. The square is still an important transport hub. From there, you can easily reach all the city's neighbourhoods with public transport. For instance, you can take the tramway - like many tourists - to the Grand' Place or the Cathedral... 1459953507-26-6.jpg

6. 1459953734-26-10.jpg

7. ... or take the subway to the Opera and the de Ligne Boulevard. 1459953824-26-7.jpg

8. 1459953061-26-3.jpg

9. If you take the tramway to the south, you'll find the city's business district. Here, skyscrapers have replaced the old houses. I'll post more of this neighbourhood in an incoming update. 1459953803-26-12.jpg

10. 1459953641-26-13.jpg

11. More global views 1459953388-26-8.jpg

12. 1459953851-26-9.jpg

13. Let's finish with one last mocaic: between the city most famous landmark - the Cathedral - and the CBD. 1459953866-26-11.jpg

Thank you for viewing!

Next updates will be about the central station, the CBD and the Belmont Garden ;)

@Ln X Thank you! Here for the sairs :)

@MushyMushy Thank you too! I'm really amazed by the possibilities offered by those Paris walls. For the BATs: the building here and I can't find the other one sorry. It's called "geoatcorner" ingame and in the plugin folder if that can help you.

@raynev1 A huge thanks too!

@kingofsimcity Thank you! I really love those small parkings with those awesome trees. It gave me other ideas of avenue like that.

@takemethere Thank you! Here we are! More pictures next time :)

@Belfastsocrates Thank you too! Those walls and those little parking lots are amazing :yes:

@MilitantRadical Hahaha, thank you too!

@kelistmac Thank you too my friend!

@tankmank Thanks a lot!

@Urban Constanta Thanks too!

@kschmidt Thank you too! I though about Marseille Saint Charles station while building this. Here it's because the station is located on the edge of the hill and the majority of railroads in the city is built at 15 meter above the lowest city level.

@TekindusT Thanks a lot!

@Hafiz173 Thanks too! You just need to download them!

@vinlabsc3k Thank you too ;)

Oh, nice, nice, nice, NICE ! Excellent variety of European W2W, grid not overly apparent, smooth transition to newer buildings. And those banks ! (Not many parkings, though...) And yo managed to make those subway stations work  (here, the blue ones) ; I never could, always a flag. Must try them now that I have so much more Stuff, (the deps should be in there somewhere !:-), they're too cute.

Thank you for the info about the station ! Mosaic are really very well sorted; city got a swiss Zurich like feeling ! GLR got so much variety with conversion from Tram on street to Tram in avenue I may not have explored; are there some special add on pieces as well as Tram in Avenue green lining instead of the concrete one ? GLR single pieces got green and street stone pieces, bridge done with dragable GLR  elevated rail. Stations as sunk easir connect to road networks, elevated single bridge station; some time not appealing by lower ever transparancy; multi track missing ? Level station on a dyke allway´s got the difficuty attaching it to road network below;pedmalls°´s ? City very nice looking forward to the upper town, well done !

Absolutely fantastic work!! I love everything you did here! It truly reminded me of my days in Europe! Your integration of modern buildings was spot on!! I was wondering if you could help me locate a few of your buildings though.. I really liked the white three storied building in front of the square you had with the statue of Frederick the great, I also was wondering if you could tell me where to find the building in the bottom right hand corner of pic 6, it almost looks like a palace maybe? And lastly, the building to the right of the bridge in pic 6, you used it more than once, and it is beautiful! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Once again, marvelous work!

Great work as always Feyss! Two quick questions, what metro entrances are you using in the square, and what is the 2x1 corner building, just being hit by the right spire of the church in the 5th image? Thanks. Keep up the inspirational stuff! :)

You made great use of an extensive array of low rise bats. Repeat buildings were kept at a bare minimal. Was the city mostly plopped? If so that's an impressive amount of effort. On the other hand if it was grown, your pluggins folder must be quite massive and you must have a ton of patience.

ditto -- lessons to be learned there, either in custom content managing and in patience, be it in order to have stuff grow (and watching it like a hawk, ready to pounce with "make historical") or to plop. [How did the pox struck, btw ? Did you take something out without bulldozing first ?] Any which way, that city deserves to be CJ'd, pox or no pox.

Some great lot editing, and I like the pavement mod, it is unique without being too over the top or plain. I think having the same mod for the streets and buildings makes things more seamless and it flows well. I also like the layout of the city, dense and a mix. Also I like how you handled some of the height ttransitions, subtle and smooth
