And Kansas City vs Kansas City.

Oh, God.  Where do I start??

St. Louis has the tallest man made monument in the US.  (Gateway Arch)

The St. Louis Metropolitan Area has a population of  - 3,200,971

     St. Louis City - 352,572

     St. Louis Metro - 2,848,399

Kansas City Metro Area has - 2,460,247

      Kansas City - 444,965

      Kansas City Metro - 2,015,282

In terms of city population that is not that much different seeing that STL City population increased from 338,000 to 352,572 since 2005.  We keep growing, we will catch you eventually!!

Also the tallest building belongs to - well it depends on how you look at it.

St. Louis has the tallest if you count by floors - AT&T Center has 44 Floors where One Kansas City Place has 42 floors.  St. Louis' second tallest building The Metropolitan Square has 42 floors also.

Kansas City has the tallest if you count by feet.  195 for One KC Place.  181 for Metropolitan Square which is actually taller than The AT&T Building.

So KC gets the bid for tallest building.  But when Ballpark Village and The Bottle District are finished there will be like 4 buildings in STL taller than the tallest in KC.

Sports Teams.  STL takes that one by a long shot.

St. Louis Cardinals compared to The Kansas City Royals???  You know the Cardinals are better when there are more Cardinal Fans at Royal Stadium during a game between the two teams.

KC does not even have a hockey team.  Eventhough the Blues are pretty bad, we still have one.

The Only sport I give you is Football, because everyone knows that the Rams suck.

For politics, I can't think of one instance where the two fight over politics.

STL is more well known in the USA (Which still is not that much) just because we are thought as to be bigger and we have the Arch (Which everyone knows), also people tend to get confused between KCMO and KCK.

And for the record.  St. Louis and Chicago are bigger rivals.  (In terms of baseball)  I have never fought over KCMO or STL ever once.  I like to think of us as friends if more than anything.  (I am actually going to college in KCMO this fall)

CUBS:  Completely Usless By September!!quote>

how will you have a building taller then one kansas city place if you cant have any buildig taller then the arch? the tallest building that might be built is the SAME hieght as the arch. and 1kc place is taller then the arch.

and the royals beet the cardinals more then cardinals fans choose to remember. and the cards arent doing so hott now are they? they have one GREATplayer and thats pujols (whose name i have NO idea how to spell) and hes just about finished. although, the royals dont have any GREAT players yet. i will addmit it...22.gif

and there is NO way there are 3.2 million ppl in greater stl!

one thing i know of a sports/political rivalry betyween kc and stl is when mayor barnes started an organization that helps any mo city that is redeveloping their downtowns. but a suburban stl legislature made a last minute ammendment that made kc not able to use that org for their downtown. which is a LOAD!

Royals rock!! I'm a diehard Sox fan, but I root for the Royals anytime their not playing the Sox. George Brett is my favorit player of all time. I started following them back in the early 80's when I lived in Ft Myers and would go to Royals Spring training games. Those were great years. Willie Wilson, Brett, Hal McRae, Saberhagan, Dan Quisenberry.

King County is big enough that what gets voted on their generally ends up being what passes. Spokane, while the biggest city east of the Cascades, just doesn't have the votes to sway legislation in it's favor. We've been at loggerheads for several decades over just about everything from businesses to funding. A new rivalry lately also has been the City of Spokane and the newly formed City of Spokane Valley. In 2003, the eastern half of Spokane voted to split from Spokane and form it's own government, calling it's self Spokane Valley just to make things more confusing.quote>

It should be King County vs the state of Washington.

I use to live in the Tri-Cities btw.

Phoenix vs. Tucson here in AZ.

I kinda prefer Tucson even though I live in Phx, but that's for one reason: sprawl. PHX has WAY too much sprawl, but Tucson is better in that department. I also like downtown Tucson better than downtown PHX, it feels much more quaint and welcoming.

Hello! San Francisco vs. Los Angeles; Nor Cal vs. So Cal? Its so crazy the Nortenos (north) and the Sudenos (south) have gang wars!

I love Nor Cal but I am moving to So Cal for college and I shall see how bad it is. So far my only concern is smog; going to Riverside, one of the most polluted cities in the US14.gif

I'd think that San Francisco and Los Angeles would have a rivalry. I know that Columbus Ohio and Ann Arbor Michigan have a fierce rivalry because of our Football teams. We HATE the Michigan Wolverines11.gif

Cleveland and Cincinnati also have a huge rivalry over football, and so do Cleveland and Baltimore, MA and Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Would it be safe to say that we hate everybody?22.gif

Dortmund vs. Cologne??? Never heard about that. I'd call Dusseldorf vs. Cologne a rivalry their distance is about 30km and they are rivals in anything soccer (but on a worse niveau than in the past, especially Dusseldorf) beer (both cities have their own traditional sort) status (finally Dusseldorf became state capital) population (Dusseldorf about 550,000, Cologene close to 1,000,000) economy (banks and offices in Dusseldorf, chemical industry and media in Cologne) mentality (world city snobs in Dusseldorf, tolerant urban underclasses in Cologne) canival (the same jokes every year...) shopping trade fair university history (a long story, at least since 1288) and so on... there is no violence about it, but the rivalry and prejudices are common trough all parts of local society including educated middle classes, cultural artists, politicians...

Stockholm (or more the "cool" people) vs "the rest of Sweden"

To Stockholm, "the rest of Sweden" is

-Hillbilly

-Not hip

-Uncool

-No fashion slaves

-Don't understand the important things in life like the latest gossip about Paris Hilton, make-up (for both sexes) and Brazilian Waxing

-etc

To "the rest of Sweden", Stockholm ("cool people part") is

-Sods

-Retards

-Fashion slaves

You can never guess where I live

So true! Although I doubt many Aucklanders have a problem with the rest of New Zealand. Everyone else hates Auckland. For those who don't know, Auckland is New Zealand's largest city with a third of its 4 million population.

I've lived in Auckland my whole life and don't understand the resentment of Aucklanders. The view of Aucklanders is (I think) that they're all a bunch of rude, self absorbed people who don't care or know about anything outside the city. I think a lot of the people who hate Auckland are simply intimidated by it's size too.

I used to work for a market research company doing annoying phone surveys. Most of the time in surveys we had to ask where in the country people lived. People often said which suburb they lived in within other cities, and not knowing which city the suburb was in I had to ask where it was. I lost count of the number of people who responded with: "Oh, you must be an Aucklander." Or "Don't you know where that is? Where are you from? Auckland?" The thing is, I doubt most of them could tell me where specific suburbs in Auckland were. Like I would care anyway!

There are also some shops outside Auckland known to have signs stating that they charge an extra fee for Aucklanders, claiming that their taxes pay for our roads. (With a third of the population I think we pay for our own roads.)

I'm not stupid enough to take those sorts of thing personally, but it annoys me how these people blindly dislike you simply based on where in the country you're from. I have nothing against other parts of the country. Why all the dislike for me?

So weird.

Skyliner: New England/So Cal./Manhatten have the highest costs of living in america no doubt, but im pretty sure Boston is on top, or at least it said so on wikipedia, and a legit source was cited. Besides, one apartment in the Back Bay costs 1.5 million.

As for hospitals, Boston is the best place to go for cancer, being home to dana farber, and has the number 3 or 4 hospital in the country (mass general), plus a slew of high quality hospitals that very few cities can match. Just if your curious, number 1 i think is in rochester minn, and number 2 is in baltimore, but i doubt rochester has even half as many hospitals as boston, but baltimore might.
