  1. Okay, cool. Makes sense. Thanks a lot!
  2. Fantastic! Thanks Xyloxadoria. Just to clarify, are you saying to change the wealth setting for the plaza lot or for the footpath? What effect does the wealth setting have on something like a plaza lot? And what would be the effect of lowering it other than changing that grass into footpath? Thanks for the help!
  3. When a diagonal road has commercial zoned on one side, a footpath appears on both sides of the road. However, when you plop a lot next to that footpath, opposite the commercial zoning, the footpath changes to grass. Is there any way of stopping that from happening so that it remains footpath? I'm asking because I'm making a plaza set and it looks stupid when there's grass between it and the road. Thanks guys!
  4. Diagonal Lots I'm making a waterfront sea wall set at the moment. All of the lots so far look good: I've run into a problem with the diagonal lots though. This is how they look in the lot editor: But this is how they look when plopped in the game: The rail and lamp post props have sunk down below ground level. Only the props in the middle of the tile are affected. The props on the edge are in the right place. Does anyone know why this happens? And what can be done to stop it happening? Thanks guys!
  5. Fantastic! Thanks for the help! You know, I wouldn't have thought to do that, even though now it seems so obvious. I ended up deleting the exemplar lot files from the original DAT file too, because just removing the icon files made my in-game menu go all weird. I've got it all sorted now though. Also, I never knew LEProp existed until now. What a fantastic little program. Thanks again for the help.
  6. I'm new to modding, and have been playing around with the Lot Editor and iLive Reader. I downloaded a seawall from the Stex and decided to change the pieces a bit. The file was a single DAT file with 8 lots in it. I removed some props from each lot using the Lot Editor. This gave me 8 LOT files in my Pluggins folder. It also gave me new icons in my game menu; I had the original sea wall icons as well as icons for the modified lots I made. All of these lots plopped perfectly fine. I wanted to combine my modified LOT files with the original DAT file I downloaded. I wanted to have only one set of lots, not my modified set and the original set. Using iLive Reader, I removed the LotConfig Exemplar for one sea wall lot in the original DAT file. I then copied and pasted the LotConfig Exemplar from the LOT file I made into where the old Exemplar used to be in the original DAT file. I then changed the Instance number to what the old Exemplar Instance number was. I then repeated this with the rest of my LOT files. I then clicked on "ReIndex" and "Rebuild Directory File", and then saved it. So in the end I had the LotConfig Exemplar files from my modified LOT files in the original DAT file, which were replacing the old LotConfig files. I removed the LOT files from my Pluggins folder (which I no longer needed) and ran the game. When I plopped the lot in a city, the game crashed to desktop. The Lot Editor also crashed to desktop when trying to load these files. However, when I put my LOT files back in my Pluggins folder, I was able to place the lots perfectly fine. I could do this by using the icons from the modified DAT file as well as the icons from my LOT files. So the modified DAT file worked as I wanted, but only if the LOT files were in the Pluggins folder, which is messy and clutters up the game menu with their icons I have no idea whether I'm on the right track with what I did, but how would I go about fixing this? I want to modify the original DAT file by adding the modifications I made in the Lot Editor. I would really appreciate some help with this. Thanks!

I really love your government district. I'm planning on having a government district in an upcoming city of mine and yours has inspired some ideas for it.

I've lived in Auckland my whole life and don't understand the resentment of Aucklanders. The view of Aucklanders is (I think) that they're all a bunch of rude, self absorbed people who don't care or know about anything outside the city. I think a lot of the people who hate Auckland are simply intimidated by it's size too. I used to work for a market research company doing annoying phone surveys. Most of the time in surveys we had to ask where in the country people lived. People often said which suburb they lived in within other cities, and not knowing which city the suburb was in I had to ask where it was. I lost count of the number of people who responded with: "Oh, you must be an Aucklander." Or "Don't you know where that is? Where are you from? Auckland?" The thing is, I doubt most of them could tell me where specific suburbs in Auckland were. Like I would care anyway! There are also some shops outside Auckland known to have signs stating that they charge an extra fee for Aucklanders, claiming that their taxes pay for our roads. (With a third of the population I think we pay for our own roads.) I'm not stupid enough to take those sorts of thing personally, but it annoys me how these people blindly dislike you simply based on where in the country you're from. I have nothing against other parts of the country. Why all the dislike for me? So weird.
  9. Swamper77’s patch didn’t fix this for me so I’ve just been playing around with ILive Reader and found out how to fix it. This is only for the Columbus Terrain Mod. 1. Download ILive Reader and run it. 2. Open the Columbus Terrain Parameter file from your pluggins folder. 3. Along the top of the screen there are a whole lot of buttons. Click on the one 2nd from the right called Navigator. 4. A window will come up which is split into two parts. On the left side scroll down to Terrain and expand it by pressing the + sign to the left of it. 5. Click Terrain Properties. A whole lot of properties will appear in the right half of the window. 6. On the right side of the window find WaterMinAlpha. (This should only be about 9th down on the list.) The value for this should say 0x9A. We want to change it to 0x00. 7. So right click on it and click on Edit Property. 8. Another window will pop up. Down the bottom of this window it should say Values as text. In the text box below this type in 0x00. 9. Click on the apply button to the RIGHT of this. And then on the apply button at the BOTTOM. 10. Under Value for WaterMinAlpha it should now say 0x00. 11. Exit that window now just by pressing the X in the top right hand corner. 12. Now in the main window click File and then click Save. And you’re all done! Exit the program, start up Sim City 4 and you should see that it’s fixed. In this program I just compared the terrain properties of this file with that of the original Sim City 4 file and looked at what had been changed. I just made my way through changing one thing at a time back to the original Sim City 4 configuration until it was fixed. Changing this one thing should fix it. It did for me. Goodluck to everyone with this!

    Ronald Reagan!!
  11. Swamper77, I've got the same problem with my coastline when using the Columbus terrain mod. I just tried using the files you attached to your post, and nothing changes. I've tried doing it with all other pluggins removed and still nothing. Any idea why it didn't work? I'd really appreciate any help I can get. When you zoom right in on the coastline the water looks like this:
  12. Columbus Textures for jeronijs mod

This mod is amazing. I have a problem with it though. When I use it, the sea ends up being jagged along beaches. I've tried removing all pluggins except for this one but it does nothing. We're talking about it in the forums: The topic's called: colombus and beaches. Try searching for that and have a look there to see an image showing what I mean. I have no other files with either CP_Columbus or TerrainParamters in it. I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks!!
  13. colombus and beaches

I've tried removing all terrain and water mods and just using the ones that came with this mod. Still didn't work though. I've tried using a sand terrain mod and a water mod but the same thing happens. I've just updated the drivers for my graphics card, and still no change. Any chance it's a problem within the mod?
  14. colombus and beaches

Wow, fast reply! Thanks!! I've never used this mod before, but as I understand it, Exodus above has. Yeah, I've tried running SC4 with an empty pluggins folder (apart from this mod), but the same thing happens. So it looks like this mod is the problem. Normally I'd just forget about it or find another mod, but this one is terrific!
  15. colombus and beaches

I've got the exact same problem! I've just installed Cycledogg's terrain mod and ended up having jagged sea along some beaches. It looks even worse when zoomed out. I've tried this with all other pluggins removed and it still does the same thing, so it's definitely this terrain mod. It'd be great to find a solution to this because apart from this it's an amazing mod! Someone, please help us!!
