Is it just me or did Washington run a play in the "missing man" formation?

There were ten defensive guys on the field.  Buffalo made a nice gain.   The next play, the guy who is taking Sean Taylor's spot went out on the field.

Guess we won't know until the after-game interviews.

If memory serves (and it might not, seeing as how I've had my head buried in spreadsheets all weekend), this happened the first time the defense took the field.

Yes,Ski, they ran the first defensive play with only 10 men as a tribute to Sean Taylor who was killed last week in Florida.

What exactly is the "missing man" formation. I know what that means when you're talking about something like the Air Force, but football I'm clueless on.

VT-all it is is they went on the field in their normal defense, but the guy who is replacing sean taylor stayed on the sidelines, so they had only 10 players on the field, the empty 11th spot being a tribute to him. Kind of like how USC took a delay of game on their first field goal (left the kicker on the sidelines) as a tribute to Mario Daniels, their (junior?) kicker who died last summer.

OK, that I understand.  It sounded like there was some sort of special formation called "the missing man" that I was unaware of.

A shame they lost that game with a bone headed move by the coach.

15 yards is a lot to add to a 30 yard Feild goal

Yes back to back Time Outs to ice a Kicker is a personal foul,

 Unsportsmanlike Conduct to be eaxct 15 Yards and Automatic 1st Down( not that a 1st down made a difference with 8 secs left) made a 51 yard FG turn to a 36 yarder and that makes a huge difference in % to make.

Had he missed the 51 yarder (and a lot of 50+ yarders are missed), Washington would have won the game.

He made the 36 yarder (most 35 - 40 yarders are made), and Buffalo won the game.

Gibbs called both of the time outs, back-to-back, solely to ice to the kicker.  That is against the rules.  All head coaches (especially those already in the Hall of Fame) are expected to know the rules of the game.

I have to say:  I have never seen Gibbs as rattled as he has been this week.  I remember his first reign (back in the 80s) clearly so I have lots of years of watching this guy react to things.

I am not to nervous about the raiders, and the Broncos have lost the last two games in a row. We are hosting the Lions, so that should give us the advantage. However, I still think we can beat the Titans next week.

Allow me to vent for a second about the Browns- Cardinals game. The hail mary to winslow on the last play was, without a doubt, a pushout. However, the ref was looking at Winslow's feet and paid no attention to him being shoved out of bonds and this being one of the "nonreviewable" plays, nothing could be done to over turn it. The NFL needs to take a nice hard look at which plays are reviewable and which ones aren't. A team should never lose a game because of a Referee miscue

They even said on the post-game show that the Browns should have won that game. Besides, I like the Browns better anyways.

True, but you can't have everything reviewable.  If you did, the referee would spend all his time under the hood.  The thing is that there will always be games where something should have gone another way, and you can't always get them to change it.
