36 married male in Savannah,Ga.. Have 3 kids(m-14,f-12,m-11) from a previous marriage and a 4 year old stepson. I''ve only had SC4 for a few days... We bought sc3000(it was one of the first pc games for our new pc) after enjoying sc on snes... (I never found a sim city for N64).. SC4 was the next logical progression... My 5 year old loves sc4 - i load an "empty" region, freeze the time, take out a $200k loan to supplement the $100k, and he builds road, rail, buildings and landmarks for an hour..... then its my turn for the rest of the day!
Oh, yeah - i work at a paper mill...

Hello everyone!  I used to make a point of saying hi to every one personally, but I''ve been slacking! (ok slap me for being a bad host) So, a blanket "Hello and Welcome All!" will have to suffice..   Nice to see so many new people from all over the globe.

I made this!bzt.gif

Where do I live? What do I do?

I live in a medium density residential zone in a $$ building with about 800 others. I have power & water. The police & fire coverage are good. Crime and garbage are low, but I live near the interstate, so traffic noise is medium. Land value is high, as is the mayor rating. I am a block from a medium density, $$ comercial service district. Traffic around it can get congested. Still, I drive to work because although there is a busstop in walking distance from my appartments there are none near my office. Heck, even if there were a bus stop, I''d probably still drive. You see, I''m $$ so I take the fastest route to work. I work in a small patch of low density commercial office space in the next city over. Polution is low because it is an agritultural community with a hint of medium industry.

I also play a little SimCity every now-and-then.

/Chris

I suppose I should write something in this thread now that I've been a citizen here three weeks or so.

I'm 25, male, living on the west coast of Norway. I attend college where I am doing a Bachelor in Human Resources. Previously I've attended a university and studied Intellectual History and Comparative Religion. I've also studied Sociology as a part of the Bachelor degree I'm working on.
I've been heavily involved in American football here in Europe since I was a teenager, and particularily as a coach from age 20. After 5 years I've now taken a break and will focus more on my studies the coming two years.
I've also run a few websites over the past 5 years (One, http://www.tnfj.com>TNFJ.com, is still barely clinging to life).
As far as gaming goes, I have played A LOT of Half-Life, particularily deathmatch. I've been playing Sim City since SC2000, but not extensively. Other favorite computer games include: Pirates, Transport Tycoon Deluxe, C&C: Generals, Jones in the Fast Lane, Warcraft II, Doom, Doom II, Sierra Front Page Sports Football (particularily '96) and the Madden series (but mainly on PS2).
That's about it I guess.

Thanx for this thread it makes me feel better about playing around with games at my age... most of the people here are over 30... im 35 married 2y old son live in Prague, Europe i make an advertising magazine with used trucks at work and i have found myself reding this site as often as bluesnews lately.

At first i was looking for info on just how to get SC4 RUNNING... Well now that it hasnt crashed for a week I just wish it could be modified and customized more.

The trains run way too fast and disappear just before stations and rip through school busses at xings - my son complains about that...

Im really not going for extra high numbers im just slowly building cities intuitively...

Hi everyone. I am 29, single, have a cat name Gish (named after the Smashing Pumpkins'' first album). Live in the Netherlands, the Hague, home to the UN prison holding Milosevic, hopefully soon to be added Saddam Hussein. I commute a short walk->street car->train->long walk to work as a software developer & system administrator for a small company in YIMBY radius of Delft University.
I enjoy stuying the inner workings of games and various programming techniques involving game development. Instead of creating one of my own I waste most of my spare time playing games such as SimCity, Settlers, Civilization, Anno, Jagged Alliance and online shooters like Quake and RTCW.

Im a CS for a direct marketing company and taking a web course at night. I''m 29, male, and benignly strange. If I were one of your Sims, I''d be working at Havoc Bioenhancements and then walking back home to one of the crappy-looking apartment buildings. Think of me as a $$ living in an area that''s mostly R $.

No pets, except for a fish (who doesn''t do very much and, I think, hates his life -- I should maybe change his water more often), and unmarried, but then I''m gay, so "married" isn''t going to happen anytime soon. I do have a pretty amazing boyfriend of eight months.

I tend to get obsessed with one computer game at a time; right now it''s SimCity. Last summer, it was The Sims. Over the winter, mostly Civilization 3, though I started playing Sim City 3000 again when I heard that SC4 was going to be released.

Been very impressed with Simtropolis so far: I''ve gotten a lot of really useful information here (wanted to say thank-you in particular to Sharr, whose posts on educational "floral" arrangement have done wonders for my skills as a mayor). Finally decided tonight that I was impressed enough to register. Hope to be talking to y''all more in the days to come.

I''m 26, software engineer from Oklahoma City, currently living in Minneapolis, MN. Getting married this fall. SC4 is the first Sim game I''ve ever played. I bought it on a whim one day while in Best Buy looking for a new game. I like it but think I lack the ability to design asthetically pleasing cities, at least so far. It gets frustrating when my cities peak at 180k sims and then start falling apart. Before this I played Urban Terror, a mod for Quake 3.

Hello,
My name is Michal (Or Mike) and I'm 16 yrs old. I was born in Kolobrzeg, Poland, but I currently live in Elk Grove. I go to High School (Soph) in a nearby suburb. I enjoy almost all kinds of music (besides country)...I also like to learn about different cultures/languages (especially Polish!), and in addition I like to travel (whenever possible!) 22.gif I became hooked on SC like in 1994 or so, when I saw the box and was mesmerized. I have no cats, just a fish thats like 2 yrs old - has no name. Anyways, happy Simcitying. 2.gif

Hi all,

I was born in Washington, DC, USA and have always lived in the DC area.  I try to maintain a rational perspective, though, so I''ve traveled to 38 states and 10 different countries.

I''m a computer geek who is old enough to have learned it originally in COBOL and Fortran.  Not quite as old as Simjez, though

I''ve never met Charles Babbage either, although I did once meet Admiral Grace Hopper, the grand old lady of computing.

This is my first Sims game and this forum has helped a lot.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Hello Everyone,

I''m 33 , a GP and live in New Zealand.

Hi. I''m 19 and just a college student begining my second year in Computer Engineering.
I live in Guayaquil, Ecuador (South America).
I''m impressed about how many people over 30 are here! :0
That''s because I don''t know anyone who likes PC games over that age.
I''m a Simcity fan since I have 13 when I played SimCity for Super Nintendo. It was hard to play, but I get used to. I''ve been buying all Simcity version that has come to my sight, although here PC games are expensive (taxes
).
I want to know if there''s someone from my same country, Ecuador, or from somewhere in South America as a SimCitizen here?

Hi, I''m 13 and a student at Wilbur S. Pence Middle School in the small redneck town of Harrisonburg, Va.  I have a brother, 20, and a sister who is 17.  I live with 4/5 cats at home, 3 of which we actually own, others are strays.

I hail from Columbus. Don''t ask me what state. There is only one city named Columbus big enough to leave off the name of the state. Anyway, I am a freshman civil engineering student at the gigantic state university here in town. I''m almost 19 and I''ve been playing SimCity since late 1991. Some of my other interests include Star Trek and classic rock music, though my romantic life has become very important to me as well.

I gotta remember to add this link to my signature:
http://www.geocities.com/thereealbirdin/

It hasn''t been updated in a while -- Yahoo! Geocities keeps giving me problems. Still, there''s a lot there.

Hey there fellow SC4 junkies.
This is an interesting thread...my turn now I guess.
My name is Steve. I''m a misplaced New Yorker living in sunny Orlando, Florida (great for my golf game).
I''m an avid gamer since Atari 2600 (I loved the Activision games...especially KaBoom). I wish I had continued to keep up with computer "stuff" because some of the computer-speak on this site tends to zoom straight over my head
-- hence my tag line..."I hate computers".
Dirk, thank you for creating Simtropolis. You and your admins & mods do an incredible job. Keep up the good work.
--Time to go play SC4 and see if I can get one of my cities to reach 100,000.
Thanx again

I''ve learned soooo much from reading this site...thank you.
