Hello Simtropolis.

I am from "The Forest City" London Ontario Canada. I was a visitor here when SC4 first came out. I played SNES, 2000 and early SC4. I recently re-bought SC4 and am overwhelmed with all the great wonderful mods, lots and other custom content around. With all these tools available now, and after browsing some amazing city journals, I can't wait until I have some Regions up and going.

Let's Build! Newbie here in Madison, Wisconsin. Thanks for all the advice in advance and for what I already have read. Never played Sim City much in the past, now that I have, I'm addicted.

I guess I should introduce myself too, although I have been around for almost a year already.

I only started to post here a couple of days ago. Before that I guess I was afraid of asking questions already answered elsewhere in here. And actually I still haven't had a question to which I haven't found an answer. That also means that I have read and read and read through a lot of these threads during the past year, and learnt enough about tweaking to make my own modifications if I can't find what I want in the STEX.

I'm living in Mariehamn, a small town on the swedish speaking island of Åland, which is an autonomous part of Finland, located halfway between Finland and Sweden in the Baltic. I'm 43 yo and have been playing SimCity since its first version, the one made for DOS 18.gif

I've been a member for a while, too, but was hesitant to ask repetitive questions and alienate the entire community. However, since I've begun talking to people, I've realized that everyone is very considerate and helpful. The next step is to actually come up with something in SC4 worthy of posting on here alongside some of the tremendous work that so many people have contributed. I'm nowhere NEAR that point yet...

As for myself, I'm 24 years old, from Pennsylvania, and have been playing SimCity since the SNES version with the green-haired Dr. Wright. (Still have yet to make a megalopolis on that version!!!)

Hi everybody! Where have my manners been- I have been "lurking" on this board for almost a year now and this is the first time I have stumbled across this topic thread.

So here goes: My real name is Jeff and I am a thirty-seven year old married father of four (including seven month old twins!) living in Rockville, Maryland; although I am originally from Baltimore. For those of you not familiar with the area, Rockville is a suburb outside of Washington, DC. My background is Electrical Engineering and I architect computer networks/IT systems for a living. I am currently in grad school at Johns Hopkins in the dual masters program - yes, that is not one but two masters degrees simultaneously.

I enjoy playing lacrosse (that is the sport with the sticks with the funny baskets at the end that we get to beat each other over the head with), football (American), soccer (goalkeeper - call me crazy), chess and listening to music (any other William Orbit fans out there? And I mean things like "Strange Cargo", etc.). Because of injuries (amazing how an almost forty year old body does not quite heal as quickly as it used too...) and now children my sports participation severely limited. Besides SimCity, I enjoy Neverwinter Nights and I am also absolutely addicted to a very old military strategy game called Empire published by White Wolf Games back in the early nineties (I now, the game is probably older than many of the Simtropolis members, but what can I say, I have an addictive personality).

I have thoroughly enjoyed the content/contributions on the STEX and have download about 1300 - 1400 lots, bats, mods, textures, props, maps, etc. I have also really enjoyed the advice given in areas such as game playing strategies, tips, technical fixes, etc.

Hi and welcome vlad755!

Glad to see I'm not the only father of kids playing... Nowadays I often play together with them and they've been mayors of their own cities for more than a year at the age of 11 and 8. 10.gif

Besides we've got a 5 months old cat who tries to catch all he UDI vehicles on screen. 22.gif

RJ:

Thanks, and my oldest- my five year old son, is starting to show some interest. He does not understand the concept of funding yet, but he does like to suggest where to put roads, train tracks, buildings, farms, bridges, etc. In fact he does have the whole 'zoning' concept down pretty good. Farms, bridges and trains are his favorites.

Yes, I really like NWN, but the problem is that it takes a lot of time to develop original content, even with using the wizards -even with my engineering and programming background. It is one of those things that you have to stay consistently at it- you cannot code for a few days, put it down for a month or two and then go back to it. And given my family situation, I just do not have gobs of time to devote to NWN at the moment. But I do enjoy it (when I get the chance)!

People think I am nuts for doing this now, but it is a case of if I do not get my Masters now, I'll never do it kind-of-thing. And yes, I enjoy Simptroplois a lot!
