Hi @EasyplayR and welcome to Simtropolis! *:)

Sounds great, and that's one of the best things about the community is how it's a place to post and showcase anything we create in game. If you did have a YouTube channel relating to city building, feel free to post links or embed your videos in reply. I'm sure you've found the CSL forum by now too, and that'll be the ideal place to begin.

Enjoy the site!

Good evening Simtropolis,

It has been a few decades since I played the 32-bit Windows 3.1/DOS version of SimCity.  I remember the distinct "Whoop Whoop" sound of the siren when something was happening such as a disaster.   It was the version where an MIT student created the perfect city with the max of 6 million residents!

I later upgraded computers, my IT skills which landed some lucrative jobs for a season, and I bought Sim Box which I only got to play maybe a few hours.  It was due to travel plus the technology upgrading past the old CD-ROM.

Today, I'm on Origin Games and bought SimCity (2013).   To reference how long ago it was, Madden NFL for PC stopped at the 08 version.   Origin has Madden 19 and Madden 20 now.

How time flies!

I"m looking forward to seeing some good mods for 2013 version which I am please with so far...I have the Deluxe version with all the packs and it looks fun to build.  I do miss SimCity 4, Socities and Destinations.   Maybe there is hope to see that in a downloadable form...

It's good to be back again building Cities.

Hi @SimCityCommander and welcome to Simtropolis! *:8)

Glad to hear that you're enjoying city building and what it has to offer. The forums are quieter for SC13 nowadays, but there still might be a few people who check there. I've never tried it myself as my personal interests are with SC4, but I've seen some people in there say about looking to play online regions (if that takes your fancy).

Speaking of SimCity 4 and if you're interested, I noticed that as per the status @chfzdn posted here, the game is currently on sale on GOG.com site. This is renowned to be the best digital version of SC4 in the universe, and so might be worth picking up if interested in giving it a whirl again sometime. *;)

SimCity4.   I'll look at GOG as I heard good things about it.   I like Complete but SimCity4 was the first where I started to use the traffic network mod.  It also had you manage your money better due to everything costing money, including pipes if I recall.

Online is appealing but prefer the individual challenge.

Oh I missed SimCity!

It's the version I use and it is wonderful. One thing be be aware of is that they have a Gog Galaxy game manager thinger and it's prolly fine for modern games. However, Gog Galaxy does not play well with SimCity 4. See here to install standalone.

Hey all

I am new to this site and I've recently begun playing SC4 again.

I've played SimCity games since I was a kid and the first version of SimCity that I owned was the one for SNES :)

Hi @ZaneyZap and welcome to Simtropolis and back to SC4! *:)

To have existing experiences with SC4 and you'll soon find how through what the community and custom content bring, it will further enhance new possibilities. You must've got a great perspective for how the SimCity series has progressed from the initial version too (for me it all started with SC4).

Hope you enjoy it here also.

You bet @Cyclone Boom , when SimCity 3000 came out the graphics where mind blowing. Cars where no longer dots on the road and if you zoomed in you could see sims walking around! :D

Hiya, @ZaneyZap. Welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

I remember those car dots and they multiplied more than rabbits. Give them 1 lane or 6 lanes or 12 lanes of roads and they'd fill them. :O

And, ofc, there was Dullsville. *

Hi @muhammedsaeed and welcome to Simtropolis! *:8)

You've made a great choice in becoming SC4 mayor indeed, and all the best in your mayoral endeavours. I suspect with more free time and it has meant many people have decided to get back to SC4 again, and it's always nice when people like yourself decide to join our community here.

Hello fellow city builders,

I've been lurking in the shadows for the last couple of months, but I feel its time to introduce myself *:8)

First time I came into contact with a city building game was somewhere in the early 90's. Either I was too young to enjoy it or the original SimCity just didn't capture my imagination. When I encountered SimCity2000 in 1996 I was hooked! In the following decade I worked the grid in SimCity 2000, 3000 and 4. The roads in my cities were orthogonal, with maybe an occasional diagonal. I installed the NAM basically because I wanted to use the roundabouts *

Six or seven months ago I reinstalled SimCity 4, and while laying down the first couple of roads I wanted to start building a city which would be a bit more lifelike. I wanted to build something that's completely different from what I built before. Since then I've started building a couple of cities and rural areas on a large map. I've build my first RHW interchanges (the learning curve, oh my the learning curve :lost:) and small villages surrounding a church in between farm fields. The rabbit hole I fell in is a plugins folder of 2.5 Gb (thus far) and I'm having a lot of fun with some of the beautiful content people have made.

So even though this post is supposed to be an introduction of me, I'd really just want to thank everybody for making beautiful maps, mods, lots, props and textures, but also those who explain and show how they build certain parts of their cities. All this really helps me as it sparks ideas and help me solve problems.

I'm wide awake now, Raymond!

Hi @Garlicked and welcome to Simtropolis! *:8)

Very nice introduction, and I can tell you've discovered the true joy of what SC4 and city building games are all about. They do require thought, and it's what makes them a totally diverse toolbox than from other types of games. There very much is an art of problem solving in a creative imaginative mindset. That's what I love about SC4 most of all, because it's that freedom of being able to decide what to do, and no end goal or limitations since that's only defined by our own mayoral pursuits of success.

Glad to see you've already made a few posts around the site too, and hope you're enjoying the community so far.

Hello Simtropolis,

I have been visiting Simtropolis for a while. The STEX stuff looks very interesting, so I joined.

I started playing SC3 way back when first released. Now I have time to invest in SC4, and hope to learn tips and tricks so I can build the city of my dreams. Thank you.
