Problems with Big City Tutorial

This is in Windows version of SimCity 4 Deluxe.  I am having problems with the city "Big City tutorial".  I used Art Money to give the city $99,999,999. I have done this in the past many times without any problems, I have been playing the Windows version of SimCity 4 with the extra Rush Hour cd since it came out .  This time there is graphic streaks.  Some streets are missing roads. I try to replace the streets. The streets get replaced, then disappear again. I have never had a graphic problem like this with Art Money. Is there a way to replace the city "Big City tutorial" without uninstalling and reinstalling the whole game.  Normally I backup the original region dir before I make changes (not this time, my bad).

Yes. Look in the game's installation folder in the Regions folder and copy City - Big City Tutorial.sc4 from the Timbuktu folder into the corresponding place in your Documents folder.

Or, just head over to Other Settings and click Reset Tutorial. Wait and Timbuktu is reset.

What mods did you install? It looks like you have some half-baked diagonal roads and/or FARs.

No mods. The only thing that I did was to use Art Money to give the city $99,999,999 and like I said, I have been playing the original SimCity 4 with the Rush hour cd. Then I got the deluxe edition.  I still have the original Win 7 Home 32 bit version of SimCity 4 with the Rush Hour expansion pack.  And like I said, I have been doing this money cheat using Art Money for years without problems. The only difference is I had to buy and download a new copy of SimCity 4 Deluxe edition from GOG.COM because the old one got stepped on.

The city "Big city" still has the streaks in it. after 1 hitting the reset in region mode.  2 replacing the city from the backup on the D: hard drive. 3 comply uninstalling and reinstalling the game. And 4 downloading the game from GOG.com again. I have no clues left as to what to do next.

Hiya @reble1, If you don't mind it, can you upload your Region of BigCity through OneDrive or here? I'm not sure that whether or not it's a Graphics issue, and I can tell that you're playing with vanilla SC4 without too much plugins, so I thought maybe we could quickly figure out it by this simple method.

PS: I seem to remember that dealed with a similar issue with updating Graphic's driver, Have you ever tried change the render mod between Hardware and software? Or add a appendix ' -w' in the shortcut target so that running the game with window mod. E.g. …SimCity 4.exe" -w

I have an account in OneDrive but I have never used it. But I will give it a try. OneDrive is like DropBox? If so I use DropBox all the time.  Do you want the region ziped up in a zip file? I can do that.  Also this started after I changed BigCity's available funds with Art Money to $99,999,999 . I have done this many times in the past with SimCity 4 without any problems

Yes @reble1, I have Dropbox as well, It's better to zip them as one file, I don't think it's caused by money cheat, Anyway, i will help you with my comp.

Your Region runs perfectly in my comp, so i thought this issue maybe caused by the environment of your game, Such as Graphics, OS etc, You can give the attached file a try in your computer (backup yours first), I saved your Region in my comp.

Besides, If the issue insist, I suggest that discribe a bit about your Hardware or you could find out a file named …config-log (this txt file locates in your App folder with a appendix of your username) and then paste the content here, I thought it would be more helpful to the analysing of our specialists.

May i ask that have you tried the window mode or software render mode to run the game?

Raymond7cn  What is this " reacted " in the lower right corner for? Does the log give you any ideas as to fixing the game? My thing is that the download from GOG has a bug in it somewhere.

My older copy of SimCity 4 Deluxe on DVD plays fine on my Sony laptop OS Win 7 Home 32 bit. But will not run on Win 10 Home 64 bit without a prog called "VirtualBox" running in the background. But VirtualBox takes up memory and hard drive resources to run.

Hiya @reble1, Sorry for the late reply, I have read your log, not pretty sure about that, but i thought the problem is about your graphic card, or to say, the graphics applying with SC4.

Though more Video-RAM doesn't make the card perform better. It just means it has more memory to store things in, However this part:

textureMemory = 96

where says you're using Intel Graphics 4000 to run the game, this card is a Integrated Graphics, Right? so I thought the video memory will share the system's memory, your freeMemory = 2048 , but the shared video memory is too small to run SC4, IMO.

Ah, I got it, You mean you used to have a Sony laptop OS Win 7 Home 32, and the SC4 was running very well on it, but after you have Win10, you have to run SC4 within VirtualBox, Am i understanding right?

I'm sorry, I read your post again, I presume the thing is, Your GOG version could run on win10 and win7, Your DVD.version could only run on win7, but your GOG has a bug, Meanwhile, the DVD version couldn't run in win10, so you build up a win7os in Virtualbox of win10, and running the DVD version in win7 of Virtualbox, Is it right?

Straight away, make sure you have updated the graphics drivers to the latest available. SC4 worked the last time I checked on a similar HD 4600, but it took three years after I bought my CPU before a driver existed that worked without graphical problems.

These figures may not be accurate. Windows nowadays creates a single pool of VRAM for all available GPUs in the system, including the equivalent of Virtual Memory, i.e. utilising RAM. Such integrated GPUs can have the amount of reserved RAM set, but it's also possible it's misreading the current amount reserved, which can change dynamically, for the actual maximum available. It doesn't help that using an integrated GPU means the memory it's using is a slower kind than that in a dedicated graphics card.

Depending on the manufacturer of the machine, you might be able to alter the reserved memory in the computer's BIOS. But that's not a place you should be poking around, unless you understand what you are doing.

The last thing to check, does your computer have a second graphics card, usually from ATI or NVidia, in addition to the Intel one, it's a very common setup these days. If you do, then you'd be better off getting the game to run on that dedicated card instead.

Don't worry about your awful english. My grammar stinks and I use a prog running in the background called TinySpell to catch spelling mistakes. I have dyslexia. As to Virtual Machine I haven't completed the setup yet. I am having problems getting Win 7 to run right on it. I was told by an other person that got the Virtual Machine going. That the older SimCity 4 Deluxe will run on the Virtual Machine. My bad for not clarifying that point.

The laptop is a Gateway model NY570P-18U. As to a 2nd graphics card, I don't know. I will check to see it there is a better graphics driver out there.

That's the idea as far as the VirtualBox goes. As to a dedicate video card goes.  I have never done that before. I know it can be done in a tower with 2 or more graphic cards installed.

Sorry that so many posts are detached due to my English writing speed, what's your resolution of your VirtualBox and your laptop? since i saw this settings:
