2 Lane Draggable Highways

I was watching series of videos from a youtuber who did a video series on building a city from the ground up. He has an interesting way of doing things, some things i have never seen before. He demonstrates how to build RHW interchanges. I went into my game only to find that it doesn't work 3 lane highways, only 2 lane highways. When he drags them out they only have 2 lanes as opposied to the default 3, and is able to build the interchange with no problem. I noticed he also used a single lane road to create these transitions. I would like to know how to do this. The fact that he was using mods is quite obvious, I want to know what those mods are called so I can use them to build interchanges in the same way. Thank You

Yep, the link for the video would be good. But for building such interchanges and the described highway type (I assume, that he used MHO - Maxis Highway Override, which converts the game default highway to RHW/RHW-4 style 2x2 lanes highway), you definitely will need the Network Addon Mod with RHW and the MHO option installed. With the NAM/RHW feature you will be able to build highways/motorways up to 5 lanes per direction, and create complex interchanges from scratch. The above mentioned "single lane road" actually also a NAM/RHW feature.

The link is posted below. I already have NAM and I use it quite extensively, but I am wondering how to find out what version it is. Don't think I have MHO. I assume there's mod for it, right? And i'm not sure where to find that single lane. I looked where I thought it would be, but I didn't see it there.

I checked out Maxis Highways override and it turns the maxis highways from black to concrete, which isn't what I want. This youtuber had 2 lane highways which were the same color as Maxis Highways. That's what i'm after, I want to know what mod or combination of mods he is using that enable him to do this/

    So a few things.

By the fault the MHO turns the concrete/grey 3x2 lanes general Maxis Highways to 2x2 lanes RHW-style asphalt/black highway. There is mod, which is a concrete retexture mod for the MHO, but I'm not sure this one you are looking for.

The MHO is an extra option when you install the NAM. If you want MHO to be installed, you need to run the NAM installer again and choose the custom install/set-up, then find the Maxis Highway Override in the choosable feature list and thick the box.
There are 2 kind of single lanes. One is under the Highway menu, you can find the starter pieces, this piece called MIS, this is for highways. The other one can be found under the road menu at the bottom around the NWM feature. There is a NWM starter piece as well and under the TAB-ring you can choose the OWR-1 type. For higways you need the MIS.

But back to MHO and the video. That video is old. These puzzle piece features can be found for sure the latest NAM v36, however you can combine the MHO with RHW and by intersection you can use the RHW and create fully flexible and draggable intersections on two levels (L1 - 7,5 meters, and L2 - 15 or 15,5  meters, I'm not sure which height the L2 road networks use). If you stick to the MHO, then you need to use puzzle pieces as far as I know.

Having read the replies, it certainly appears this is NAM related so I'm whisking this topic over to their forums. *;)

All the pieces to make avenue cross MHO as shown in that video still exist, provided you've elected to install the relevant NAM components. However, the MHO is not simply a cosmetic override of MHY, there is a fundamental difference that it's intended to be used in conjunction with the MIS system from the RHW mod, especially when making interchanges and junctions. If you aren't really looking for a more RHW compatible setup for your Highways, you probably want to remove this from your NAM install. To do that, re-run the installer, choose a custom install and unselect the Maxis Highway Override (MHO).

If you are not using the MHO, the same pieces still exist in usable form for the original Maxis Highways (MHY), they just look different. However, again you'll need some RHW pieces for the entry/exit ramp height transitions at the least. Those will not be available unless you've installed the basic RHW mod and additionally having checked "Legacy Deprecated Height Transitions" under RealHighway Additional Options.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

OK, How do I find out what version of NAM I have? And would it be best for me to remove NAM and and do a new custom install?

The one I want is the one that doesn't turn the texture to concrete. I would prefer to keep it black as I have just added the mod which turns them from grey to black. I saw in image with the concrete restructure and honestly it looked ugly to me.

So where do I find the first mod you mentioned?

NAM version is under Transportation Menu > highways and ramps. Scroll all the way to the last entry.

I'll try to explain myself better.

I assume that most people know a certain youtuber who goes by the name of Dwyrin. Now I notice that he uses alot of mods, and obviously NAM is one of them due to his extensive use of RHW, as well as a mod which turns the highway color from grey to black, which I also have installed in my plugins folder, and I have also noticed that he uses a one-way ramp piece to create custom interchanges, and in his case he seems to only do this with avenues.

As well as wanting to know where the piece for these custom ramps can be found, I also notice his highways have only 2 lanes, and he is able to drag them out wherever he pleases like you would a standard SC4 highway, and watching the video which I will link below so you can get a visual representation of what I mean. Now I have been informed that this can be found in the highway menu, but I have looked there and all I see is the standard 3-lane draggable highway, which doesn't interface with the custom interchange pieces. Am I missing something here?

Dwyrin is using two systems--the RealHighway (RHW) mod is what contains the ramps in question.  Those ramps are the RHW's Modular Interchange System (MIS) ramps.

The actual highways shown in the part of the video you linked are not RHWs, but the Maxis Highway Override (MHO, also known sometimes as Project Symphony)--the actual NAM feature, not an external cosmetic mod.  The NAM's MHO turns the Maxis Highways into a 2-lane-per-direction (4-lane total) network, disables the game's default interchanges (as well as the NAM's standard Maxis Highway interchange additions), and instead relies primarily on the RHW's MIS (much like Dwyrin is doing), in addition to adding a few custom interchanges of its own.

For more information, see here and here.

Thanks for that. So what you're saying is it's part of NAM? I have NAM installed and I don't see it in my highway list, which would mean I don't have it installed. So I guess I would have to remove NAM and do a custom reinstall selecting the components I want right? or is it possible that there is a third party mod that will allow me to add it? Thank You

OK, I did that and here's what it says: RHD 2017 Sep 03, `10:19:23 (UTC)
Is that the most current version?

I'm afraid I'm no additional help since I'm not a NAM expert, but this was something I could check.

From inside NAM 36 which as of now is the most recent release, I can confirm the date and time for the controller is:

    NAM 36 - Controller Info 20170903.png

Oddly I notice mine says it's just 1 second older though, but perhaps that's due to a different configuration setting.

    By the way...

Seeing as your newly posted topic concerns the same subject, I've merged them here so everything is nice and neat.

Thanks for confirming that. The problem I can think of is those components were never installed. I am wondering if the best course of action is to remove NAM and do a custo.m reinstall

Thanks for that. I didn't have the NAM installer, so I went and downloaded it again and did a custom install. I didn't realize there were so many options. I can now see 2 lane highways in my highway menu :)
