I do have another request for ST staff.

We really need to be updating the files on the STEX as they're corrected, otherwise we will be chasing our tails and unnecessarily duplicating work in the weeks, possibly years to come.

The LEX's Download History allows users to easily see which files they've downloaded have been updated. I am not aware of such a feature on the STEX, and I'm not sure how to make such updates easy to find for MAC users, unless someone would start a thread to list problematic files reported & fixed as we know them to this point, as well as a link to the corrected versions. I will gladly help add to it as more reports come in. Ideally it would be a stickied thread, so that it's easy to locate.

Hello!

I'm new to SC4 and only use it to make terrains, please excuse my ignorance. I did read the stickied post, bur couldn't answer my questions.

The problem:

When I load a terrain file somebody else made (probably using an older version) into SimCity, all the roads disappear.

My Questions:

 - Could somebody have a look at terrain files generated by the 64-bit version and find out if there is something different about the way roads are saved?

- Is there a tool I could use on a mac to look at what is in a SC4-file and maybe edit it myself?

I'll tag @CorinaMarie in on this one. It may be helpful if you could post a link to the file you're trying to use.

Thanks. And yes, knowing which file is being used will help.

I'm not sure I understand this. When you say you use SC4 only to make terrains do mean like in an artistic way such that you aren't using the game as a city simulator?

If this is referring to grayscale maps rendered by the game then there won't be any roads. It would be the terrain only.

I can look at the city files generated, but if they are rendered from a grayscale image there won't be any roads. On the other hand, if you have downloaded a complete region rather than rendering the terrain, it could be the city file were made with NAM installed and options which are not in your plugins.

There is a program called SC4 Savegame Explorer on the LEX (requires login), but that's a Windoze program and also does not allow editing of the game file itself.

Apple saw we finally got the NAM working nicely on Macs with the new Java installer with the NAM 37 Release Candidate.  That, of course, sets off all the alarm bells at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino---have to completely change the OS or hardware again!  Can't give those NAMites a rest from borderline fatal macOS-specific tech support issues!:P

So... who's ready to go through this ordeal again but for the new ARM-based Macs this time? 👀

Apple is switching Macs to its own processors starting later this year

sigh. I've got a 2012 macbook, so I guess by then I'm emigrating to Windows again as I'm assuming support for this version of the Macbook is gone whenever Apple release their own processors.. If I'm still playing SC4...
