I think I'm still missing something

It appears I'm missing something for Blackies Boatyard:

ttW9C35.png

I have no idea what I'm missing. The listed dependencies are PEG-CDK3 Resource Pack1, PEG-CDK3 The Basics, PEG-CDK3 Recreational Boats Pack 1, and PEG-CDK3 Trawlers Pack 1. I have all of these installed, in fact, I have everything installed except the seaport stuff that could potentially conflict, and it still displays like this and with no icon in the menu. I'm at a loss for what I could be missing. This has moved beyond being a cruel joke.

I've taken a look at this and installed Blackies Boatyard in an empty Plugins folder.

The file contains a lot (as a DAT file), along with a resource file for the main model. I then loaded up the game without the listed dependencies to see the extent of what was visually missing. To my much surprise, everything seemed fine except a brown box which only appeared in the plop preview, and a few missing props. This included the trawlers on the left side, and overlay textures such as for the parking white lines.

As follows:

Blackies Boatyard Preview 01.jpg

What I did next was install the PEG CDK3 SUPER PAK which contains the listed dependencies merged into a single DAT file.

I found these don't need to be installed individually, but for reference they are:

(Linking to the files on the STEX, as the original URLs are now invalid with pointing to SimPeg.)

After extracting the PEG-CDK3_SUPER-PAK.zip file, starting the game and the Boatyard all seemed to work properly.

Like so:

Blackies Boatyard Preview 02.jpg

(Some props like the yellow forklift truck and people are timed ones, so don't appear constantly.)

Here's my complete file list in Plugins from this test:

              14 Dir(s)

Those files highlighted blue are the main items, and those in orange are the readme and preview pics which can safely be removed.

So as a way forward, I suggest first try to replicate this test by using an empty Plugins folder. Just rename your current set to something else, then install Blackies Boatyard with the CDK3 Super Pack dependency into the empty folder and see whether it works properly in the game. As you suspect, it sounds like a conflict might be to blame here, and how from your picture it shows the actual model as missing, along with most everything else.

Once you've found it works without any other custom content, I recommend using a binary search to narrow down the conflict. Also remember to check your game's installation Plugins for any others in there which are loaded in addition to the Documents Plugins folder.

Hopefully this helps. *:)

Turns out I didn't have the version I linked above in my PEGPROD folder... But then what is the lot even doing in there? It could be the Heretic version as I appear to have that... But wouldn't it say so ingame? I'm confused... I installed a few new things and will see if it works now...

EDIT: It works now, but that begs one question, two actually. One: If I hadn't even installed the lot in the first place, why was it even appearing in my menu? and two: Where are all the other wooden CDK3 lots? I think I have a few others, but then the rest are all concrete...

Bumping this because I'm having a problem with another lot:

    r2CSdTo.pngi2DisDa.png

This is missing something, the parts near the truck parking aren't showing up correctly, even though I have all the listed dependencies and can verify that the files already exist in my plugins (I was missing one earlier but it's installed now), I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I've installed all the SHK textures and these ones aren't showing up... I might have to edit the lot myself to fix it at this rate...

EDIT: Replacing the already installed parking textures did nothing. I'll have to Pim-X this thing and add the missing textures myself...

EDIT2: Even the RHD version didn't work, so I'm at a loss...

You know what? If this lot is broken, then I'm uninstalling it! I'll build my own rest area:

    jQWdpZG.png

(Sorry about the extra kerb, but this set has only three outer corners)

With blackjack and... You get the idea.

EDIT3: It's been uninstalled. Maybe someday, I might investigate it internally...

    @Wiimeiser

Have you considered the Roadside Rest Area by @RRetail?

@CorinaMarie, it's actually @RRetail's rest stop he's having problems with.  It isn't readily evident that's what he's talking about, and he provided a link only with the word "This."

@Wiimeiser, when you have a problem with a particular lot, it's always best to provide a direct link (i.e. the download page's URL, as opposed to what you did) to the lot you're having problems with.  If you're not going to provide an obvious link, the next best thing is to call out the content creator with the lot you're having problems with.  Otherwise, he may never see your comment.

There definitely a set of six textures missing from the dependency list (verified using DataNode).  You may want to PM @RRetail direct to notify him of the problem.

Prolly. And I also assumed the second pic was the same lot. :O

Me too. So make that 100% of the site admins who missed the "This" link. *:P

Seeing as the Roadside Rest Area is a newly uploaded file, it was certainly worth suggesting as an alternative. Just as it turns out, this so happened to be the same one.

That works nicely. As a humble suggestion going forward, I think @twalsh102 was recommending to name the link with the upload's title for clarity (as I've done above). Then it's clear exactly what "This" relates to with the preview pics before clicking. No worries at all though, and it was just a misunderstanding. *;)

Hopefully the author can provide some direction as to what's missing, and update the file accordingly.

I'm honestly at a loss as to why this isn't working for you folks. Those missing textures do show up for me and they are supposed to be included in the .dat file included with the temporary files folder. I did not create these textures, that honor belongs to @kingofsimcity, so perhaps he being the orginal designer of the textures knows what the issue is? I simply included them in the download with his permission.

Is anyone else having issues with this lot?

I'm not going to be able to adjust anything until tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully he can provide some imput here.

Edit: @pclark06 posted a screenshot of the rest area with no issues in his review of the rest area and it works for him. Are you sure the issue is not on your end? This makes no sense why some users are running into issues while others are not.

I know I had an issue with not realizing that all the SHK packs were different. It could be that?

Missing textures would suggest that the version of SHK's package being used is out of date. It's very rare creators change things like texture IDs, since that's catastrophic for existing mods relying upon them. So more than likely just downloading/installing the latest version is sufficient to resolve the issue.

I see also TGN grass textures (or maybe not, I didn't make them), but the point being the grass in the screenshots is NOT the default ones from KOSC's mod. Depending on where those changes came from, it's possible some differences exist between a TGN release I made and KOSC's own release. Certainly the TGN/SWN variants are out of date. Word of warning here, when lotting never use overrides or non-default settings for any content you will use as a dependency. Doing so will create conditions where your results may vary from that of those using your mod in undesirable ways.

I updated the SHK Parking pack before thinking that was the issue, but both versions were the exact same in every way. When were they last updated, again? 2016 it seems...

The only logical possibility at this point is that the game simply doesn't load certain ID ranges under certain circumstances. What are the exact IDs of the textures? Because maybe we could make some placeholder textures with the same IDs and see if those load. Twalsh, what exactly is in the "Textures.dat" file in the "Temporary Files" folder? Is there anything there? Textures with different IDs? Nothing?

For reference, here are my PC specs, at this point it seems comparing them is our best bet:

    Version of game: GOG

    Language: English (UK)

    OS: Windows 10

    Antivirus: Trend Micro

    Default Browser: Chrome

Other notes: Placing MMPs in game is glitched. Installing SFBT content triggers a ransomware alert with the readme-related image files and appears to abort installation.

EDIT: Scanned the texture file in Datanode, there are 85 TGI files, so the file seems normal. All IIDs start with F8A0, beginning from 8050 and counting up from there, all TIDs are 7AB50E44 and all GIDs are 0986135E. Scanned the LHD version of the lot but I'm not sure how to see if anything's missing or not...

EDIT2: Found it, it seems to be missing files with the TID 7AB50E44. Going back to the texture file and correcting the previous TID, then loading the lot file again shows most of the files are no longer missing, but I'm still missing the following S3D ID:

    5AD0E817-BADB57F1-2CB80000

    And the following FSH IDs:

    7AB50E44-0986135E-25272000

    7AB50E44-0986135E-258B3000

    7AB50E44-0986135E-258F2000

    7AB50E44-0986135E-F8A06910

    7AB50E44-0986135E-F8A06920

    7AB50E44-0986135E-F8A06930

    7AB50E44-0986135E-F8A06940

    7AB50E44-0986135E-F8A06970

    7AB50E44-0986135E-F8A08130

None of which are in the texture file, the lowest is F8A08050 and the highest is F8A080A9

Right, but we're not talking about the SHK pack, that's the base that's not been updated in years. To be explicit, we're talking here about KOSC's variant, which has been updated several times.

(KOSC just beat me to it it seems). But indeed the missing textures are from an addon that doesn't appear to be listed, so hopefully that will solve the problem.

@RRetail I took the liberty of adding your RR Prop Pack Vol. 4 to the list of dependencies for your Rest Stop. (I did not add a -Cori edit message since I'm sure you'd've done the same when you log in again.)

I would like to apologize for this inconvenience. I had a lightbulb moment today and realized that I forgot to list my prop pack 4 as a dependency in the upload. Glad to see the problem was fixed anyways.

And yes I would of changed the file to reflect the changes so thank you for doing that.
