Back To SC4RH After Years

Hi, folks!

It has been several years since I have played SC4 and all my old files are lost in time. I wondered if anyone could tell me the best (or updated) apps that are considered awesome. Like, what is the most recent NAM called? Can I still find those old seawalls for building ports, special buildings and stuff? Does the cheat DLL still exist?

Thx,

Barbagris

Hi @Barbagris, welcome to Simtropolis and back to SC4. *:)

The world of custom content is so vast, with items on the STEX and SC4Devotion LEX still regularly being uploaded 15 years on and counting. I suppose it's really a matter of personal preference as to what could be seen to each person as the best items. I'm aware of a useful post which contains links to basic fixes which might be worth installing. Also at the bottom there are links to Cori's Shoppe guides which are picture-based references of all known rock, water, beach, terrain, and tree mods.

The most recent edition of the NAM is Version 36 and was released back in September 2017. I recommend using the "Custom" installation and to select the components which you'd like to use. Since it's a very complex mod with many tools, it really depends on what you're looking for. It's something I suggest doing for all types of content and that's to explore them in a test "sandbox" region. That way it's possible to get familiar with what items add to the game, whether for the artistic or functional side. Some people like to use the CAM or there's the SPAM, and not to forget the RTMT. For the CAM, you may find this article worth a read to clear up some of the common misconceptions.

As for the Extra Cheats DLL, it can be downloaded from here. One thing to make sure is it's placed directly in the root of your Plugins folder (in no subfolders), as otherwise it won't be loaded into the game. It enables a right click menu to the cheats box which is an indication when it's correctly installed.

For seawalls, you may find one of the following worth checking out:

Then the following tutorial in the Omnibus might be of use for their placement:

Creating Straight Edged Coastlines, Canals, and Ports

So just a few possible ideas to get you started on your return to mayorship. *;)

Ah... it was the Marrast one. Loved it. Thanks for the info.  I'll check them out this weekend.
