The file name (which is what you select/enter after clicking "Save as...") does in no way affect the in-game name of a lot. The in-game name is determined by a property named "User visible name key" or "Item Name", which are both contained in the building exemplar file.

I reckon the easiest and newcomer-friendliest way (i. e. with least tech lingo and nerd skill requirements) will be to open your lot in iLive's LEProp tool and enter a new name and description. This should do the trick.

Growable / ploppable? If you don't give enough information, nobody will be able to help you. Nobody knows (A) what exactly you did, and (B) what you tried and where you looked in order to get your buildings into the game.

Information like "I did everything normally, but I can't find them" are rather useless. We'd need to know what kind of building you made, where and how you saved it, and what exactly you did in game. It's probably best to focus on one particular affected building, too. If we find out what caused the problem in this case, we might have the solution for the other cases, too.

I agree, the LEProp tool is very simple and user friendly tool for lot property editing. It can be obtained from the following locations:

Simtropolis

SC4 Devotion (must register)

SC4 Kurier

multi-function lots

I have a lot that acts as a few things, such as police station, fire station, and a high school. But I can only drop the model into one catagory. Does anyone know how to make a building munti-function?

Thanks

Hmmm, I don't think it's possible to make a lot multi-functional. I have never seen such a lot, and I've never heard of it before, so I'm pretty sure it's impossible.

I guess it would be the modding discovery of the year, if you found out how to make a lot multi-functional.

Happy New Year! 39.gif

Do I have a different version of the lot editor or something? The only button in the "Building" tab is called "add family". I can't find any "Replace item".

Checking the LotEditor.exe properties, it says "File version 1.0.1.0". Is this the current version?

Update:

It surely was the wrong version! There was a zip file called "lot editor for BAT" that got installed with the installer I used. The exe in that was version 1.0.12.0, which made the difference. I dug up the files on my old harddrive and I'm not even sure when they were downloaded. Way back anyway. I guess the "for BAT" editor is standard issue now days?

Anyway, topic solved!

Thank you so much! This one post brought an end to 4 days worth of frustration trying to figure out why I didn't have a 'replace building' button.

Hi,

I'm trying to create some MML's, however I just can not follow this section:

"Now, add (or copy) a "Building: Landmark" occupant group to the Building Exemplar file of the construction lot. You can take this from an existing MML too."

No matter where I look, this is how it's always described "Now, add (or copy) a "Building: Landmark" occupant group...", but no matter how I search in ilive's Reader I can't find what to do.

Any help, advise?

For ease - here is the whole paragraph (from which the above is taken, the first part I can do):

"Now, open an existing MML Mod DAT file in ilive's Reader and copy the LUA script by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Copy file(s)". Paste it to the construction lot with right-clicking and "Paste file(s)". Now, add (or copy) a "Building: Landmark" occupant group to the Building Exemplar file of the construction lot. You can take this from an existing MML too."

I am aware this is an old post - but it's the closest topic I could find, and it's much newer then those on simpeg (linked in thread). I am also aware there is DAMN (which I will try - but as I understand - it's still leaves the menus full).

Thanks in advance

Troy

Sir, please read the last reply to this topic, it has been dead for over 3 years. Please, don't bump an old thread, it is against our general rules. And if you have a question, please start a new topic another time.

Lot Editor and Plug-in Manager Forum Archive 2010

This thread contains all of the stray topics created in 2010 in the Lot Editor and Plug-in Manager forum. This thread serves to condense those topics into one topic before merging into the new SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop forum.

However, all of the posts from the original threads are merged chronologically, which means that if two threads were posted in during the same time span, their posts will be mixed together, making it harder to read. To help with this, the title of original thread has been edited into the original first post of each thread.

Remember that you can use Ctrl+F to search through your current page.
