Millenium Residence in Lot Editor?

Hey i recently tried to open the lot Millennium Residence by on001222, however everytime i try to open it my lot editor crashes (i have no such problem with any other lot.

So i though i would see if other people have had this problem with this lot (or if is just me), i also tried the similar lot by wile.e.coyote with the same result if that helps.

Thank you for any help cheers Xander.

Not those you named (don't think I ever tryed) - but had this too and also with iLive Reader. Only solution I found was to make a new lot and place the model on it. So only thing I can tell: it wasn't related to the model file. My guessing (pure guessing) was, there might be some chinese letters somewhere which can't be resolved.

OK, this problem intrigued me.  Since I hadn't previously downloaded it, I downloaded both the original by on001222 and the supposed later relot by Wile.E.Coyote.

The first thing I discovered is that model is the entire lot.  Never seen anything like this before.  While the lot does have a base texture, it is entirely covered by the building/model.  There are also problems with some of the exemplars.

However, ss far as the problem you are describing, I had no problem opening either lot included with the original download with the PIM-X LE.  I also had no problem opening the files in Reader (I'm using v1.5.4).  There are no oriental or other non-English characters in any of the exemplars.

Start Up Commands?

Probably this is already known yet but by incident I discovered today that the start up command

-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080

works also on the Lot Editor.

Any else that might be used on the LE?

EDIT: CORRECTION

You have to choose a 4:3 resolution (1280:1024 f.e.) otherwise some parts of the menu may be hidden.

The most common one is -d:software, in fact unlike the main game, often this is necessary to make LE usable.

But yeah custom resolutions are supported. As are the -F or -W (Full Screen / Windowed) switches. Although these have limited function, since the main preview/working areas don't get expanded enough to really take full advantage of it.

For me though, PIM-X is just so much more well rounded as a Lot Editor, I could never go back to the Maxis one.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Yup. But strangely after some weeks away atm the lot editor of PimX came unresponsive/extremely slow. Still I didn't figure out what's gone wrong, used to work fine. So I'm back on LE atm - even if you're absolutely right. Thanks.

If PIM-X starts to give you trouble, you may be pushing it too hard. There is a finite limit to the number of plugins it will load before it just falls over. Thinking about it, maybe it's worth trying to apply the 4GB patch to it to allow it to use more RAM. But I have a feeling it's more a limitation of the code than system memory.

Pim-X LE save problem?

Hope I got this in the right place.

This is a problem it seems Pim-X LE isn't saving my preferences. It was but hasn't been in a while. I keep adding stuff to my preferences but hasn't been saving them in a while now. I doubt there is a cap because I only have maybe about 20 in each category. I get no errors, and it acts like it's adding them but as soon as I quit and go back in they're gone.

As you might guess this isn't causing a major problem, but it is becoming a pain in the rear gear.

Any thoughts?

Lot Editor and Plug-in Manager Forum Archive 2016

This thread contains all of the stray topics created in 2016 in the Lot Editor and Plug-in Manager forum. This thread serves to condense those topics into one topic before merging into the new SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop forum.

However, all of the posts from the original threads are merged chronologically, which means that if two threads were posted in during the same time span, their posts will be mixed together, making it harder to read. To help with this, the title of original thread has been edited into the original first post of each thread.

Remember that you can use Ctrl+F to search through your current page.
