But those are .... G R O S S A R T I G!

The dome of the Staatsbibliothek may need another texture, maybe the dark shale again?

The van der Rohe complex looks like a very versatile building to me, an excellent addition to SC4. The work on the terraces is excellent, all those small props make the building very vivid/real.

Sophienholm is so lovely and I like the roof texture very much. Overall the colours are great.

What a big surprise.

Who would've thought that this day would have me drooling over some fine @praiodan BATs once again after so much time has passed? Feels good, man. Feels really good. Welcome back! *:)

    Thank you! Unfortunately I have to confess, I will never touch the model of the Staatsbibliothek again. It was a giant PITA to get this baby rendered at all and so we will have to live with a couple of shortcomings the model still has. But after many years and countless hours of work I just didn't have any more patience
     to further work on it but instead get it into the game as is. This is a very short version of a very long story full of frustration, struggles and many many errors I ran into.:dead:

    Sophienholm is cute - I love the double stairs leading to the main entrance... great modeling!  Wonderful to see you BATing again too! *:thumb:

    Thank you! This building actually is very clean and has only few interesting details along its very clear, scandinavian classical facade, which is also why I like the stairs of it very much. Glad to hear I to having them nailed. *:)

    Was lange währt...  (und so). *:lol: Thank you as well! It indeed feels very good! Although, lacking a proper plugins folder and the time to build one, I'm not playing the game actually, but I rediscovered BATing as the fantastic way to procrastinate (instead of working on my thesis...) it is. And in fact I do feel a little remorse having been absent for so long and having left so much stuff unfinished, so this is also a huge relief for myself. :]

    Did some fine tuning on the windows of Sophienholm (set them back a little more and elongated the sills).

    ahhh, some good looking stuff. Welcome back. :)

    My thoughts on the Mies building would be to do an alternate lot with backyards behind the units enclosed in hedges, and maybe have the building setback with some grass in front. Basically to be more like the real life version

    What is the German translation for "omg these BATs are full of amazing-sauce?"
    (I wasted five years in French class.)

    Thank you very much, guys!

    @Jasoncw In fact I still have yet another Lot in the works which, as you suggest, will have a similar layout as the original building with backyards enclosed in hedges and more grass in front of it. Still might take me some more time, since I am very busy working on my thesis these days. :uhm:

    @madhatter106 I really don't know if an appropriate translation for it could even exist, so we should leave it at that. *:thumb: I too went to French classes for six years, but there's not so much left of it, so nevermind. *:lol:

    I have good news for you: The Staatsbibliothek is now available for download. Have fun with it! *:party:

    Good stuff :) I'm very happy to see this building (with the mandatory "download" button :D:D:D:D )

    Thank you for sharing this!

    - Tyberius

    Additinal info: In Hungary, Budapest (my home city) I used to live in a very similiar flat building on the 3rd floor. Actually that was a residental "complex" several 4 stories high flats like this one and between the buildings there were park, kindergarden and parking lots, and close to the main road/corner was placed some groceries, nursery, pharmacy and a 10 stories residental "tower". :D

    I would translate the sentence in question:

    'Bordell! Diese BATs c'est Ketchup I smell!"

    (I'm pretty good in translating)

    The Bellevue Palace! Now I really have to find a way to put this beauty on my city centre; Which will be the possible footprint of the lot?

    Well, the building itself will at least need 7x6 tiles. While it shouldn't get much wider (since I'd refrain from modelling the gate to the Bundespraesidialamt, still the width would be rather tight, so add another tile to that dimension), a possible Lot could feature a little square and garden in front and/or behind the building, so maybe save ~8x10. *;)

    @JP Schriefer

    Thanks! Well, after having rendered the Staatsbibliothek, nothing can shock me anymore regarding building size. *:lol:

    @SimCoug

    Thanks! Yes, in fact I wanted to recreate this beauty a very long time ago (when I still used gmax for modelling, in fact - THAT long ago). It certainly would be a lot nicer than the vanilla mayor's mansion. *:D

    Quick update on the main facade, where the modelling is mostly done:
