    hey @CorinaMarie I am rendering a hay field.. woot finally figured out how to do that. The more i play at this the more i learn.... its gonna be a while but ill post a pic for you...

    That is a different program. It might have those features too. I haven't yet gotten beyond my simple modding with iLive's Reader so I'm not sure about what all the other tools do.

    No they are separate things. SC4 PIM is basically an updated version of the original PIM and LE in one program. Datanode is a scanner for your plugins, which can help you identify missing plugins and problems with mods.

    nevermind i found it..

    It doesn't really work like that. You can scan a folder or your entire plugins suite and it will show you any missing props/dependencies. But it won't know what they are called or the pack containing them unless those files are also loaded during the scan. However, if you have loaded everything, you can see easily which dependencies are used on a given lot.

    Other ways to find out include:

    • The Maxis LE embeds a special file "LD" which lists the dependencies used in lotting. However this doesn't include textures.
    • SC4 PIM or PIM-X has a function that lists the dependencies used on a lot. Again provided such files are loaded when the application starts.

    @rsc204 appariently when i put all my stuff in a dat file i also accidently put in some of my LOT files as well. is it safe to go into Ilive Reader and take the LOT files out?

    There is no problem with simply deleting entries for the lot files, so long as you have the files elsewhere. Maybe best to make a duplicate copy of the file just in case until you've verified the change.

    You can copy/paste entries between files open in Reader. So if you need to move things around it's pretty easy. There is no cut feature though, so after copying you need to go back and remove the entries from the old file.

    both versions of my rapeseed farm had been uploaded. as you can see both lots are functioning they are now growable lots.

    I am working on my farms again just so i can get them updated and replace whats missing on them. ill release them one at a time as i get each one done and tested to be sure they do grow...

     

    SC4pim-x will tell me what textures are being used and props so i can get the right links...

    Mary,

    I downloaded your KCP_wethy Freight Station file after seeing it referenced in this thread. I tend to take a look at most of the SC4 items I download with ilive Reader before trying to use them in a city. One thing I noticed is that your original DESC file (KCP_wethy Freight Station-0x6534284a-0x44928eb4-0x250ea6d4.SC4Desc) is still part of the download after your transit switch properties were corrected. That file is unnecessary since your file Utils5x5_KCP_wethyFreightStation_c50eadfc.SC4Lot contains the building exemplar you want to use. You should probably delete the original DESC file since the properties have been corrected.

    I don't think that DESC will ever be used in game since we are dealing with a ploppable lot instead of a growable one. If I remember correctly the Building exemplar is used when plopping a lot. The building exemplar has the information that is used to tie a ploppable buuilding/lot combo to an in-game menu and then reference a given lot exemplar when someone decides to plop the item. I think I have read that the game uses the a LotConfigPropertyLotObject within a lot exemplar to find the right building for growable lots (i.e. the one whose first rep is #0.0 to get the IID of the building exemplar (i.e., the value found in the last rep)).

    When your lot was corrected, new TGIs got used for the the new building exemplar and the new lot exemplar that is contained in your Utils5x5_KCP_wethyFreightStation_c50eadfc.SC4Lot file.  Your original lot exemplar with the TGI that is referenced by building exemplar in your old DESC file basically disappeared in the process. I didn't look yet but I think leaving the old DESC file in place may end up showing two separate entries in the transportation area. I can't remember if one item shows up in the rail menu but won't work because the building exemplar tries to link to a non-existent lot exemplar because your old DESC no longer has a corresponding lot exemplar. But, as you have already noticed, there will be an entry in the rail menu that will work for selecting your corrected building/lot pair.

    In a nutshell, it would be best to remove the old DESC file from your upload.

    I was unaware that saving a ploppable lot that has been changed with PIM combines building and lot exemplars like this.

    Yeah, by default Maxis assigns the same TGI to lot exemplar and building exemplar for ploppables, and merges both files into one - the original buildings also follow this logic. My guess is that they thought "We are going to offer one lot for every ploppable item so the menus don't become too crowded - that's why we might as well merge everything right into the lot file".

    For growables, however, it is pretty common to have many lots using one and the same building exemplar (think of one house growing on many different lots). Therefore, the building exemplar is kept separate in a loose .desc file there, and the lot exemplars don't contain any building exemplar.

    wow looks like i cant share pictures anymore. been a while since i was last here.

    ok found a new place to upload pictures. Photo bucket now charges to share pictures. so I am around again just getting back into playing the game...we adopted two cats. lol.. been busy getting things done. ill be working on my CJ again. not doing to much of making new lots except for the mars mod or my moon mod.

    Hello guys,

    Sorry I have been gone so long, took some time to regroup. I have a question. How do I scale my model X axis X Y axis with out making the model taller? I am currently working on a chicken coop and I want it wider and longer not taller. I know there is a way to do it , but I can not remember how to do it.

    Hi Mary, good to see you still around and picking up the bat again!

     

    When in the bat, the scale modifiers are in the top ribbon under 'Graph Editors' 

    It has a drop-down box and you have 3 symbols representing the type of scaling uniform/non uniform, etc. Select non-uniform  like I've highlighted and then in the top viewport scale along the desired axis

    well my first run of the buildings i ran into a bit of a size problem. and I kept resizing the buildings and it was just not coming out right. I was trying to use the maxis farm tractor and it was just as tall as the barn, so I started the buildings over again, plus I was not happy with how the farm house came out. I will post the updated house as I am working on it.

    I decided I wanted to learn something new.I decided to do roof trusses and studding and floor trusses. I know you wont see all of this in the game. It will help me with doing the walls, windows, etc.

    Many peeps like imgur, but you also have storage right here on ST which is completely unused atm. If you use .jpg format it can take a long, long time before you run out of room already allowed here.

    Just to add...

    You've qualified for allocation of extra site attachment storage, which gives members up to 500 MB total for images and files. This excludes any items you may wish to submit to the STEX or even the Gallery though (which are stored separately). To manage your existing attachments, they can be viewed from this index.

    Any deleted from there would remove them from the locations posted at. So until getting close to the limit, rest assured there's plenty of storage remaining. *;)

    That would be the one named: Direct Link

    This ends in the .jpg file extension, and then it can simply be pasted into the post editor. Double clicking and there are options to resize if desired.
