Hi guys!

I need some help: i am a little burned from building asian style cities.

I want to build an American region.

Questions: some bat/mod/wreva suggestions?

Questions: If i remove everything from the plugins will I be able to paste those files there latter?

The default Maxis stuff will give you a Silicon Valley sort of look.

If you move your plugins to another folder, you can reinstate them with abandon when you like.  The only problem might be conflicts.

Why not do a restart:

1.  Take everything out except the NAM and the other bug fixes.

2.  Move all your regions to some other folder.

3.  Start the game (it will move in the default regions)

Go from there.

As for buildings, you'll probably find everything made by the BSP/mipro and NYBT guys to be top quality. Also look for stuff Jasoncw and nofunk have released under their own name. I'd also recommend sparkythepenguin's buildings - lots of great not-too-tall highrises and midrises.

If you also like older and small-town buildings, you should definitely check out what spa, JBSimio and Cycledogg (CP) have in store. For generic commercial buildings, madhatter106's portfolio is a treasure trove.

These few alone should keep you busy for a while...

But don't overdo it.  Be sure you test each new add for compatibility with the rest.

1) Search for mattb325 in the STEX.

2) Download everything (watch out, there will be several dependencies!)

3.) go to https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_main.php (Sign up if you haven't already)

4.) Search for simgoober

5.) repeat step 2

Oh, I was about to suggest that. I think he has the best houses for SC4.

jmyers2043 did a great set of Crafstman-style houses and lots, to add variety to the existing Maxis stuff.  In fact, all of his stuff is great - it's also available on the LEX over at SC4Devotion.

I second this suggestion - Jim has created so many useful additions for this game and all of his stuff looks great.
I know NYBT was mentioned, but I wanted to point out Aaron Graham specifically because he has a treasure trove of residential buildings that will fit in with any American styled city (from small 2 story apartments to towering condos).

One other creator who created a great stash of quality buildings early on is dk1 (not as well known now, but still one of the greats in my opinion).  His stuff will fit in great besides jmyers, madhatter and all the rest mentioned in this thread.

I love the stuff dk1 did as well - I wish he was still submitting stuff, but alas, he's fallen silent these past few years.  I always look at the STEX in hope that he's uploaded something new...

A few tips and pointers, some cities in America can have several different types of architecture depending on the size of the city and how old each development is.For example, many the oldest buildings in Rocklin are centered around the quarries. The city was established in the 1890's, and there are a few Victorian-style homes that are still standing. But if you were to drive 15 minutes toward the town of Lincoln you'll find relatively new developments; and the popular style for this neighborhood is more of a Ranch-style.

But sometimes, the environment can be a factor as well. Some luxury neighborhoods are built on hilltops and receive a lot of sun; in this case Spanish-style houses are popular as their construction materials allow for better cooling while providing ample space.

And of course you'll have region-specific styles like the aforementioned New York style. It'll take some experimenting with different BATs and how to tie in each building to a particular skyline.
