I'm surprised I don't see much experimenting with this. Remember when we wished we can have water above sea level? Well here we have it! I look forward to seeing some great nature scenes in this section.

I did some quick and dirty experiments to see if a water fall was possible. The answer is YES. The water acts dynamically with the terrain and the water spawn can be controlled.

It's interesting watching the water flow from the spawn point through the terrain. If you don't watch the height of the "container" or shores, the water will spill over. I have to further investigate the spawn control parameters. From what I observed so far at default, you get a massive amount of water to fill large basins. Turning the value down will give a weaker/smaller spawn for smaller basins and rivers.

The first 2 are massive water mountains flooding out into the plains. Notice how the water behaves with the terrain. The last 2 shots is a more controlled scale to get closer to a realistic water fall in a district. The last shot shows the water approaching the camera.

Now to make some heightmaps that fit this kind of scenario and make some real waterfall images. If anyone else been playing with the water, please share your results.

Nice shot there with the scenic road. We need some better terrain textures. Hopefully we will have some with more stoney verticals. I know they're coming....

Was messing around in the map editor, and made a map of a fjord. There's some little rapids in there, not sure if they count as waterfalls :D

    What crazy water mechanics!

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

It doesn't. It doesn't look very finished, or nice either. It looks a bit unrealistic, but with experience come skills.

@Ultimate727 : Yeah, you,re right. And this is not finished yet. Of coruse, this single waterfall took me uh... 4-6hours to get done. 3 hours to make the basic working properly, plus 3 hours and more for fixing issues and adding Greater done high-cliffs.

@Yayie : Thanks. Do we have to add "dl=1", "dl=0" or just what to remove from URL ?

Oh well, I got the image working ! Gg

Second, third and last picture look very great! I like it when they look natural.

Thanks! I agree, It's a real challenge making them natural, easier if you copy/paste height maps but those feel sterile to me somtimes.

I hope this works okay. The video is actually inside another post here (not in this category). It's a short clip on my "VOLCANO" map.  Check it out.

It always bothers me where the water is coming from on volcano maps.

I've been working on a map of Yosemite Valley. Not sure if it's going to work out the way I hope yet, and it will be a challenging map for sure, but it has a pretty great waterfall.

Well... obviously that is Dr. Evil's secret underground lair, so I'm guessing super compressed ionic volcanic hydraulic water pumps supply the water... the laser sharks are added separately.

Here's my attempt. All hand crafted. Looks great animated with different rocks popping in and of the water.2015-10-30_00010.thumb.jpg.db10d88f16700

What, water falls? There, in the background.

Anyway, I can't really take credit for the terrain, as I just added a few tiny water sources up there, and the rest basically came with the map.
