"Then we got to talking about foyers, and how they're kind of weird, 'cause you don't ever actually do anything in them except, you know, use them to walk into the next room. Then, all of a sudden, I was like, 'Whoa. Imagine if, after the foyer, there was just a whole endless series of foyers.' Christ, what a mind**** that'd be."

@ Jason: Holy cow, now that you wrote it, I see it, too! o_O You know what's the scariest bit? It might have been what the architect saw during his little trip.

@ sanantonio: LOL ^^

Possibly the ugliest building I have personally been to (besides the orange county gov't center) is Simmons Hall at MIT. I almost threw up when I saw, it is one of the most hideous out of place buildings I have seen.

Rouen, France, my birthplace.

This, for sure, is a BIG LOAD OF *****E !

A colourful flower market was removed to build this so-called "Espace du Palais".

It was white in the first place but turned to yellowish after a few month.  it is all concrete,  no greenery, no water, and has this annoying "petit-bourgeois" spirit !

Not only is it fugly, but it's also located at a really inappropriate spot, and to top it off, those obnoxious coloured tiles keep breaking and falling down... the building has won the Golden Lemon for Bad Architecture at least once.

Freaking awesome, a building inspired by the Atari 2600.

I would just like to comment on the stuff I just read (I just discovered this thred). First of all the Tapaei 101 is quite beautiful to me and so is the Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea.  Some of the Trump buuildings are so bad either. The Walmart stores are pretty ugly too. I also agree that the Boston City hall is very ugly.

Moreso for the fact that it is sitting on prime riverfront property, it's frikkin huge, and looks like a giant windows box with an ugly 60s thing just slapped onto the front end. Not to mention the trash chute on the side facing the river. Here's to hoping they relocate that dump and redevelop that whole property. There's a riverwalk going down the side of the building, could make for some great riverfront boardwalk-style retail, and would be a great location for some condos.quote>

That building looks like some one squashed the Bank of America tower down to 3 stories.

Originally posted by: Skyfire2275 The ugly OCAD building a few pages back (I know it was already brought up... but it is just that ugly I have to do it again) has got to be the ugliest building in Canada atleast... If not it is THE ugliest building period. Nothing else in this thread is uglier or even compares.

Apparently on the inside it is equally as ugly... Or so I hear first hand from people who have been in it.

Did this architect take a cereal box, stick some pencils in it and call it a building?

Lol The Taj looks like if you set it on fire it would just melt and smell like burning plastic! As for the worst building in the world I would have to say it would be the Library at the local University.

Here are some early pictures of it after it was first built:

http://www.architectureaustralia.com/resources/aa/2005/11/images/350108.jpg

http://www.architectureaustralia.com/resources/aa/2005/03/images/140305.jpg

Unfortunately when it was constructed there was one thing that was overlooked: roof drainage

For many years water from the roof would just fall off the edge of the roof. Then they decided to do something about it. Instead of going with the conventional gutter and drainpipe thing they decided to go with a new design: spillway!

At either end of the buliding they installed holes in the roof which spilt water from the roof down onto a sloped wall like a spillway where it flowed into underground drains. Unfortunately I havn't got any photos of it because nearby vegetation has made the building almost invisible! But those spillways now maintain a nice thick layer of slime from years of water. This square building with an oversized roof although an eyesore can now hardly be seen. And what is with the holes in the walls for windows. They can hardly be seen in the photos but today if you can and have a look through then all you can see is the back of a bookshelf. Some seriously bad design.

I personnal, absolutley dispise the Scottish Borders Council building... its so ugly I couldn't even find a half decent image that wouldn't make people spew out thier insides. Its literally just a huge mound of 70's concrete.

I hate this building... all I know is its near Glasgow. Mmmm, Larve-

I agree with the zizkov tower in prague, ... but HAVE you seen the Dancing House in the same city? Seriously, it looks like someone threw up metal and wedged it between a city block of beautiful older buildings.
