Never ceases to amaze me how pretty this game is at night. Some of these buildings I'm not sure whether to class as technically dark or not. They have lights on (spotlights and stuff) but not a light map over the windows. Credit to the LOD toggler for being able to put those buildings in a higher level of depth for screenshots. Makes the other lights on the buildings appear.

I've finished doing my terrain in rough draft (this used to be the Flatlands map ) and have started to expand beyond the river. More industrial zoning, an airport, the last of my freeway connections fully linked up with grade-separated interchanges (some heavy traffic on that rightmost bridge, damn!), it's all there! The tiny bit of town expansion will surely get demolished later, no way am I happy with its layout, but at least it'll provide a decent starting position for further expansion. Eagle-eyed observers will notice the railroad embankment coming in from the left: I'm finally connecting all the loose lines and will build a nice station later.

In the end, I'm aiming for around 100~120k inhabitants up from 72k right now - by expanding a bit more on both sides of the river - and then it's ~done~. As an asset showcase city, this sucker really shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to load up!

Just a quick overview of my city around the point where performance is going down the tubes :D

Only 52k Cims even! But wayyy too much traffic of course.

Testing a few mods with a fresh city, so I built up a small sprawling town. When I finally unlocked high density residential, I just "floored" it.

It is grid like, but the map of Riverrun is fairly flat and easily lends itself to grid like layout.

No issues so far besides traffic from migration and forgetting to supply the appropriate death care service to entire areas.

@thomas_bk : what is this castle, also seen in the Show us your Details thread ?

Reminds me of a Baroque one I saw on the workshop...

Would it be possible to see a night shot ?

It looks really nice! What is that building in the last picture? I would really like to use that in my own city :)

A work in progress, I am at 83k a this point, just opened up 81 tiles so things I hadn't thought through at first are starting to get streamlined like railway accessibility and a bit of a ring road for industries to carry goods around instead of through the city.  I am slowly adding a few mods here and there but it's very vanilla, I even have a mountain somewhere in the back near a small town that I slowly carve away as I need soil.  I am playing on hard mode, I think the only mod I have that changes much is the no pillars mod as well as 81 tiles, I am thinking about looking up a larger incinerator that can do more work as well as a crematorium for the same purpose, and I need to turn that basic airport island into something a little more flashy and functional.

Looking for a royal palace, the previous one I used just took the Office of Oppression.

Night shot using the Frugal Earth program. The dotted road in the middle will eventually be the northern boundary of the City Centre when I create the sunken motorway to replace it.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

UPDATE in daytime. Laid out for two new districts. Also placed the Northern Ring. It's a bit different location and shape to what I originally planned. No idea what interchange to go for on that central motorway. I was going to put it as a roundabout but I can't seem to get it to lay out properly. Might require a bit of clearance as well at that. Not many people using it as yet. I aim that for being used by people approaching from the top right of the map, wishing to cross the river to avoid the downtown connection. The big hole in the peninsula will be the WTC when the game decides to load the single plop version.

So many awesome metropolis out there, and I'm here can't even handle a small village :dead: Haven't played for quite some times, came back to see many new features, neat! Better terrain contour, weather, water structure, etc~

Well, looks like I am dumb enough to not realize this is a European map earlier... No wonder so little modern building options...
Enabling EU unlocker only made my previous save game refuse to load... Had to totally re-play this map

REBUILD....

There's been some progress in my LA-like city. I'm at the point where the traffic AI is making me angry again

Damn you guys have some great shots here! Best place to come for inspiration for sure :D

I've got a suburban area that came out really nice, so I figured I'd share. Lots of custom buildings, custom European theme and lots of mods to make it look this good! :D After some getting used to CS having lots of space to work (unlike SimCity2013) with I've managed to allow myself to leave open green areas like the park here and it just looks much better. The rest of my city still needs work, but this side of the river is close to finished. ^^
