This is a long shot, but have you tried it in both windowed ("-w" commandline argument) and fullscreen ("-f") mode? At any rate, if it doesn't work at your full resolution, you could just run the game in a window at the largest size it loads at (so that there aren't any weird stretching issues). Also going to put my lot with wishing for a 2560x1440 monitor. It'd sure help to have more space to have more folders open side by side, not to mention being able to see more lines of code at a time...

^ Thanks for breaking my eyes, Dude. Somebody on the last page posted a link to a general Know Your Meme entry for Simcity. Interestingly, there is in fact an actual meme for SimCity... {except it's SC2K, involving the transport advisor} (you know, the guy who yells at you all the time)

The answer is simple. Those sims are commuting to a secret underground government facility.

You need to check "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable Desktop Composition" in the compatibility tab as well to get SC4Tool to run.

How To Install STEX BATs, Lots and Maps

Windows XP and up can open compressed folders and have them act like regular folders by default. You would just select the files you want to copy into the plugins folder, and do so regularly (right click menu or dragging). You can also use a decompressor program, like {7 Zip}. -
Is there any version of SC2K that works well on Windows XP?

What sort of problems do you have with animations? In the thread you linked to it's not very clear, but I think you're saying that animations either don't happen or are really sped up? I just tested this on my Windows 98 and Windows XP computers, and found that animations don't occur unless there is something moving on the screen (like trains, which you said you work, but also airplanes, boats, etc.). So it seems that the game needs something moving in order to refresh the screen so that animations will show. This was all in 32-bit colors. When I switched the color to 256 (by compatibility in XP and changing the settings in 98), animations worked all the time. So the only compatibility setting that you should have to change is to make the game run in 256 colors. I left all the other settings alone, and the game worked as expected. It actually says this in the readme, in fact: The large bolded part is relevant I've got the special edition as well, and have run this game in Windows 3.1, 95, 98, XP, and Vista, and never really noticed this issue (I didn't really find it very important to have animations). I've also got it sort of running on my 64-bit Windows 7 system, but I can't do anything that opens a load/save dialog, since the libraries that SC2K uses for that don't seem to exist in 64-bit OS's, so the game crashes. -
SC4 Startup Manager - manage your plugins!

Actually, I've gotten two different profiles to be set into one region before. It's not at the same granularity as city level profile swapping, but as long as you remember which profile your using and the cities you want to use them with, it's around the same effect. Obviously, you wouldn't want to use a profile with a city that contains buildings that's not present in the profile, but if you're going from Maxis-only to Maxis + CC, it should be fine. -
Another thing that might be happening is that your sims don't have any way to get back from work in the evening. It seems from the picture that your sims need to use the highway to get to their jobs, but then coming home, there isn't any way to get from the opposite flow of the highway into the residential district. I don't know for sure if it is necessary (but it makes sense in real life); just something else to try.

The problem lies in the fact that changing the water utility slider affects more than just the capacities of your water producing buildings. Changing the slider also affects funding for pipes as well. Lowering funding for pipes will eventually cause burst pipes, just like lowering funding for roads will eventually cause potholes.

Simcity4 Deluxe Graphic Problems?
Yuu Caa Sim replied to simcitykevin123's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
This is caused by the NAM. It changes zones data view so that props are not hidden like they are in an unmodded game. I think it was done to allow for viewing transit stations, but I'm not sure. It also has the benefit of letting you switch out of the zone data view a lot quicker, since the game doesn't have to redraw the props; they're already there. Just in case you're thinking about it, you shouldn't remove the NAM because of this issue. The NAM really helps in making the game more enjoyable and realistic. -
they are also found on the CDs. If you have Deluxe, it should be there. If you have SC4 vanilla + a separate copy for Rush Hour, it will be on disc one of the vanilla disks

These developer types require high education sims. Higher wealth Commercial demand dropped, since there aren't any high education sims demanding them (new sims are always less educated and more prone to crime; the lower the resident wealth, the lower the education). Keep in mind that educating sims to high levels takes a long time (several decades with comprehensive education services).

I like mountains too. Especially when they are hand-terraformed. Great shots, Dragonxander! I really love how lush and rugged your mountains are. You also did a great job in drawing roads through them!

Still paying for a park after demolishing it.
Yuu Caa Sim replied to Mister Giggles's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I thought I'd give a try at finding out the cause of this issue. After comparing this fountain to another park lot I have (actually the only other one currently installed because I haven't reloaded my plugins), I found that the Konietzko fountain did not have the "Budget Item: Line" Property that the other lot had. After adding this property and setting the value to be the same (0), the lot now seems to function correctly, and does not stay in the budget menu after being demolished. I'm only a novice at modding SC4, so I don't quite know what this property is for. At any rate, my copy of this plugin is now fixed! I wonder if we could convince Equinox to fix the download if he comes around again...
