The L2-A1 ramp will not rotate on some stretches of Project Symphony highway.

That's my issue too.  I can only get it to face east or or south.  Is there a trick to orienting them properly?

I noticed the problem is related to the direction it faces, too. Instead of using the on/off ramps for now I'm simply building avenue-to-highway transitions that connect to my road networks and back again.

The trick is to wait for NAM 31.2.  The RotationRing section in RUL0 for that piece is zonked in NAM 31.1, due to complications that were introduced in the process of fixing another bug, which caused the same "missing rotation" issue with some Maxis-made Highway items (which had been a problem since NAM 30).  Being a RUL issue, there's no way for the average user to compensate for it.  We've fixed the issue on our end, but there's still a few things to finalize before we distribute NAM 31.2.

Thanks Tarkus.  I'll take a swig of my patience juice :) .

Next problem:

I've done searches and read threads but can't find a tutorial specific to my issue.  I built my first RHW 6S highway and a connected overpass that SIMs won't touch.  Can anyone spot the problem?  Also, I need some schooling on drawpaths.  Please explain what it's telling me (red + at top of transitions maybe?)  Did I use the wrong intersection there?

Thanks.

The issue you have there is that the Elevated MIS/AVE +-intersections are facing the wrong way.  Flip those around (you'll probably have to do a bit of demolition) and they'll use it.  The red arrows normally indicate bad paths, but in the case of the RHW-6S those "bad paths" are good--they're how we trick the Traffic Simulator into boosting the RHW-6S capacity, actually making it a useful network.

How do you recognize the correct orientation when installing them?  They look the same (to me) either way.

EDIT:  I just saw it.  Had to REALLY zoom in, but now I see the wht/yellow lines that need to match the MIS transitions.

Thanks Tarkus.

Those pieces(and many others like ERHW fillers) need to have arrows on their preview models, methinks. Also, Symphony needs both LHD and Euro Texture preview models...

Still working with my "test platform" city experimenting and learning to set up various networks.  Fooling around with Tram Ave presently.  I can't seem to activate the station.  I laid down track-ave with puzzle pieces, left two space gap and plopped the station per manuel instructions but when I drag OWR to try to activate it, no matter what I do I get the reserve tiles error.  What am I doing wrong?

Chaulk up another $%&^! with egg on his face.... 0:)   Thanks Z.

About the diagonal station...  I can't get the second filler piece to place.  Same issue as the HWY ramps?  Any work around or just have to wait for 31.2?

In any case, thanks for taking the time.  Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Your roads are too close together.  Place the station first, and then you'll see that it takes one full filler piece and one half filler piece on each end.  It works fine.

I've been trying to do it per the manual (not arguing, just explaining) leaving the 3x2 footprint for the station. In that senario the second filler (full) refuses to go on either side.

I'd also tried plopping the station first, but whatever sequence I tried to fill in around it, the fourth piece (filler or track-ave) won't go.

Per your instruction, I've now been putting down a station a leaving visual space, but I just don't see how the half filler (with no track) fits.

Thanks for your patience, can I buy you a drink?  :-)

Trying what the manual says, I get an "Already occupied" message.  So I'd recommend plopping the station first, then plopping diagonal tram in avenue pieces on either side of it.  (Be careful not to hover these pieces over the station, or your game will crash.)  When you finish, you'll find a missing triangle on each side of the station; these are filled with the half filler pieces.  Use the Home and End keys to rotate them into the proper orientation.

Here's the sequence as best I can depict it in a single frame (steps 1-6):

1.  Station plopped.

2. Station + right side dia. TIA

3. Station + right side dia. TIA + full filler with track

4. Left side dia. TIA added

5. Left side full filler with track won't go (like the fourth ramp in RHW and MHW) so I substitute half filler without track.  It looks wrong (white triangle bottom left of station) but it fits (fills in road anyway).

6. Attempted activation.  Top half of station is activated on the upper right side (north east corner). But on lower road, dragging OWR from left to right just turns red.  Dragging right to left - gold activation graphic stops at crosswalk.  Any farther it turns red.  Upon realease (with gold to crosswalk) the lower half of station is not activated nor is the top left corner.  Has to be because of the missing track in the half filler.

Thanks for sticking with me on this one.

Congratulations!  This is similar what I did to build this station.  Your final picture shows everything connected and activated properly.  Does this work now?

If you orient the diagonal piece differently when you build this station, you don't need the full filler piece (the part with the track) at all - only one half filler piece at opposite ends of the station.

Actually, it is NOT fully activated.  Look closely at the arrows provided by drawpaths.  On the upper half of the station the green arrows on the blacktop carry all the way through.  The magenta/orange arrows on the upper half of the track go through the full filler on the right side, but are broken where the upper corner of what would be the left full filler if I could get it to place.

On the lower half, OWR won't drag all the way through.  It stops and turns red where the white crosswalk lines are.  That's where the half filler is placed.  The green arrows on the blacktop are broken and the magenta/orange stop where the track is missing from the filler piece.

I see what you mean, and I find the same thing.  But there's a solution.

First of all, I think you know that you have to drag the OWR tool through two tiles on both sides.  Even then, there's a gap in the paths.  But is that gap real?  I don't know; you'd have to try it out.  But if you save your city at this point and reload it, the gap is gone.  Everything should definitely work fine then.

So see if the station works, even with the gap in the paths; if it doesn't, saving and reloading the game will fix that.  Please let us know what you find.

EDIT:  I've seen other stations with no paths at all, yet Sims happily travel through them.  So I'm betting that the gap in the paths is not significant.

Well it has me scratchin' my head, but yup it seems to work regardless of broken arrows (green, magenta and orange).  But I DO see yellow arrows indicating trains.  Haven't seen an actual train (tram?) but I haven't watched long.

Thank you very much kind sir.

You're actually using the wrong type of filler; You need the filler that contains both the Tram rails and the Avenue.

Aha!!  At last!!

The manual doesn't lay that out in detail.  z1 said my track was too close, but didn't fully clarify.  Using the full filler thrice per side gets it done!

Thank you VERY much.

Downloading 31.2.  I love the non-announcement.

Yeah I downloaded it but it's acting quite strange. First my background PNG's aren't showing up anymore, and all the icons are ghosted and different looking. My roads have a weird rough texture, especially diagonal roads, can't get the rail tool to create the turning lanes at road x road intersections, and there's absolutely no automata anymore... I've installed it three different ways, tried over old one, then by itself, then a custom one installed with an empty plugins folder, all the same results... Maybe I did something...

Seems OK to me.  I guess it is what you install with it.  You might want to check to see if you have any old transit mods laying about.  I don't load RHW nor GLR.

They changed it, it's now the one-way road tool that creates turning lanes. There was a vote on the forums some time ago as there were some problems with using the rail tool.

Thank you, I went through the manuals twice but didn't find a reference, I appreciate it.

I got the automata to work again, for some reason it was on low in the settings which I guess means, none. : ) Hehe

The textures have smoothed, and I guess the ghosted icons, which also lack any color now as well, are what they are now, they're there even when I load a plugins-less (made a new word) game.

And now the background shows up as a bright blue, when it should be a blended grass background, as well as any transparent textures and LBT textures. That has my flabbergasted for it also remains when I load without plugins, I checked the SimCity.dat files and they haven't been modified recently. I tried a variety of different things, but I know for certain it occurred during the 31.2 installation, not saying that it's the cause, just the same timing, because I can't get it to go back

Fun fact: Long awaited smooth curves for the RHW-6S, 8S and 10S are included in NAM 31.2! Albeit not in the list of new features of NAM 31.2. BTW, there's one piece (10S Inner Curve) that's dud. Here's the pathing error for the 10S Inner: (the one on the right!)

Hmmm..... more of NAM 31.5 than 31.2! :P
