On the topic of brick street puzzle pieces; this is currently being discussed by the team. They may be released if it is feasible to make the textures interchangeable, as to not favor one person's brick street textures over another. Here's a private project that I've been working on, and decided that I should bring it to the NAM team, streetcar track*:

*streetcar track is different from light rail track in the sence that the track is segregated from traffic, while streetcars aren't.

I e-mailed this to swamper77, so he might lend a hand as well.

hmm the NAM team has not visited the development thread or given

any inclination as to the status of this project, even a "we need a lot

more time due to RLS" would be nice.

So to be polite again i am not asking for any kind of deadline I just have

two simple questions:

1. Is there a plan to release a future version of NAM

2.if yes, are highway puzzle pieces (on-slope ground) a planned addition.

Thanks in advance, Alek

So like, its been almost a week since anyone uploaded anything major, or since there has been any work in the forums. Did RL just hit everyone real hard? Looking forward to any updates you can give!

Also, is anyone interested in taking on the task of PATHing these streetcar tracks/working on the new puzzle peices, I along with many others would like to see something come of this, although this doesn't have to be high-priority.

Here is a list of the known projects that are under develpoment for the 06-07 NAM:

1: custom bridges

2: Dragable GLR

3: Dragable elevated roads (?)

4: Highway-to-road & highway-to-Ave. interchanges

5: more monorail junctions

6: more El-over-road puzzle peices.

there may be more, when I find out, I'll add them to this list.

3: Dragable elevated roads

does this mean dragable one ways and avenue?

A few weeks ago, I discovered that diagonal streets could maybe be possible. Unfortunately, you cannot drag them, but at least you could plop them together with a puzzle piece which could be easily demolished afterwards. The diagonal street would remain. Then you wouldn't have to drag zig zags and diagonal streets could have slopes.

After plopping the street you can connect whatever you want to the street.

Do you think it is an improvement or is it even more laborious than dragging zig zag streets? 42.gif

A huge improvement indeed. What's the trick behind it?

Meastro444: He knows that - he is after all, using the NAM diagonal street textures, as well as a few custom ones.

I would say yes, it is an improvement, but as it stands, it's too long. I'd say give us a 1-tile version and a 5-tile version, and it would rock. (Oh, also, getting rid of that "construction site" tile and just plopping the road directly would be better.)

The trick behind it is that it is a real diagonal street and not a staircased one. For that I changed the streets' RULs, so that the ones for diagonals refer to textures and paths. Then you can add diagonal streets to a puzzle piece in the Intersection ordering RUL file. Unfortunately, it's impossible to build real diagonal streets without puzzle pieces, I think.

The street could also go directly through the puzzle piece to get rid of the construction site, but then you wouldn't be able to connect it to any networks at that tile and graphical differences might occur...

And I have already created different length, but I will add another one...

screamingman12 >> great initial work on the streetcar tracks! I was wondering whether it's feasible to apply your idea to avenues. I'm at work now so I can't draw it out, but basically the outer lanes would be dedicated to car traffic only, while the inner lanes would be shared by both streetcar tracks and cars. The median could be taken out in order to allow more room for the tracks. Streetcar stops could be represented as designated waiting areas (with or without shelters) on either sidewalk. This is the type of streetcar system that is prevalent in my hometown of Toronto on routes that don't have a separate right-of-way (refer to photo).

@Memo: SEND IT TO THE NAM3.gif3.gif3.gif, that would be a HUGE improvement

Sorry about that. I did run a search and couldn't find anything about this, but I probably used the wrong search query or something. Thanks very much.

Since things seem to be going slow on the NAM front, I actually started on my own project with the RHW (there's more over on the RHW thread as well).  Please forgive the roughness of the modelling/texturing; I'm rather new at this . . .

Dude... absolutely! I don't know how to create these, but it certainly sounds like it has a higher feasibility rate than my other proposial.
