  1. I'm in Las Vegas. The biggest and first change I would make here is to add a light rail system. We are one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and one of the biggest cities in the west, yet all we have is a bus system. I mean, we have the monorail, but its horridly overpriced, and not convenient to use unless because it only serves a couple casinos. I would put 5-6 lines in, connecting most of the parts of the town, and on one line I would run double-deck GLR trains on The Strip here for tourist appeal. I would also sell off all the current busses and replace them with new model New Flyer busses so that the whole fleet is uniform. Right now we have all different kinds of busses, in like 3 or 4 different paint schemes, and the system doesn't look good at all. And a lot of the buses are falling apart and old. They need to update. Next, I would integrate Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and all the unincorporated areas into Las Vegas proper so that the city would get added revenue from the strip casinos. I would integrate all 3 police departments into one, and update the cars from the current Crown Victoria cars to Dodge Chargers. The SUV's would be Chevy Trailblazer, and Chevy 1500 trucks for where they are needed.I would keep the current Metro Police paint scheme. As far as transportation, I would expand the freeway to 6 general and 2 HOV lanes through most of the valley, and create a c/d system on the strip to help with traffic. The c/d system would extend from the I-215 in the south, up to the US-95 spaghetti bowl just north of downtown. I would fasttrack completion of the I-215 beltway on the north and west, and expand it to 5 general and 1 hov lane on its entire length. I would expand all the major arterials in the city to 4 lanes each way, and all the minor arterials to either 2-3 lanes depending on where the road is. Side streets would be repaired and brought up to acceptable conditions. I would relocated the airport from where it currently is downtown to a location south on I-15 between Sloan and Jean. This would allow for a much larger airport, as the one we have is currently nearing capacity, and we would have one large Int'l Airport instead of 2 smallish Int'l Airports. This airport would be able to cover the additional traffic the valley is expecting, and would be built up to standards so it could support jumbo jets and large international flights. It would be connected to The Strip via a high speed rail line along I-15, as well as a dedicated taxi lane on I-15 so that people flying into the city would be able to get their from the airport in a hurry. Another thing this would do is allow for all the high rise projects that have been and are being proposed, can be built without the FAA restricting the heights. Oh. And finally, I'd get rid of that god awful monorail. Its been nothing but trouble since it was finished, and now they're trying to expand it. Eww. More wasted money.
  2. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

Just a suggestion, and maybe you've already thought of it...with the transitions from RHW6 and 8 down to 4 and 6 could we maybe have the right lanes compact in and leave the center lanes? That is how it is in Utah and Las Vegas and it takes care of the 2 tile gap. Of course the ones you have are plenty useful too, but i think either having them squeeze in rather than out, or have the outer lanes go into exits/come from entrances, would be better. It would make it so the left lanes don't have to merge, too.
  3. NAM General Discussion Thread

Hey. I just downloaded the NAM essential and the NAM May 07 from the M/D section. Is this the one that has all the new GLR pieces? I keep seeing reference to a 'June 2007' NAM, and have yet to see that on either the STEX, M/D or on SC4D. Any help would be appreciated as these are the main pieces I have been waiting for!
  4. ITS Highway Matrix Sign

Ill Tonkso, I have SC4 with RH, all the SKU/BAT updates, and I am still getting the brown box. You don't have a global file this take from, do you?
  5. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

Tarkus: Rather than a wealth level type-21, could you maybe do either a density, or different zoning levels? So that like highly developed areas would have the real freeway look to them, and rural or low density areas would have the RHW feel? I dunno how that would work, but its an idea.
  6. a new concept of roadways

That's not really new. Its a collector/distributor road system used commonly in the west/south. Texas has quite a few, parts of the beltway here in Las Vegas have them, as does the i-15 (tho they are more frontage roads than c/d style). Still, they are a good idea. It gives local business access right next to the freeway, and also reserves ROW should the freeway need to be widened.
  7. VDK's GLR Skins

It works but because of my crap integrated graphics it slows my game down alot. So back to software I go.
  8. VDK's GLR Skins

Thanks for the tips. I'll look at my rendering when I get home. My computer should be able to support it, it did in the past. Of course the game has been running a little faster since I re-installed. Maybe I'll leave it at the software level and put the skin back to the Bart Talent. That one seems to render just fine the way it is. Has anyone seen VDK around recently to ask him about putting software supported skins on?
  9. VDK's GLR Skins

I have downloaded some of VDK's GLR skins from SC4D because the files on the STEX are locked., as well as the Max Pax GLR skins from STEX, and when I try to put them into my game they show up as black.blue/green/red boxes. This does not happen with the El-Train skins or any other skins that I have tried, just the ones based on Vester's models. I have SC4 Deluxe with the SKU1 and BAT updates. Everything else shows up fine. No conflicting plugins because it happens even when it is the only plugin besides the NAM20 and RHW13 in the folder. Any ideas why this is?
  10. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

its 1gb on both. Hers is an HP and mine is an older Compaq. Both desktops with AMD 3200+. And it doesn't create any exception reports (at least not that I can see.) It seems to be just sim city on her computer, and nothing else crashes. Its aggravating. Especially after you break the 350k mark, then because of a crash you drop back to 250k population. lol
  11. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

@Tarkus: I seem to have misplaced my posts from last week about the 3 icons. But, after looking through my plugins folder I fond that I did have an RHW12 folder there. So, that problem is solved. Now, though, I have another question. I'm sure this has to do more with the computer than the game, but when I am playing on my gf's computer, it will randomly crash. Nothing to do with TE lots, like I previously explained. I have the exact same setup on my computer (basically a copy and paste of the C:/My Docs/SC4 folder) and it doesn't give me any issues. The only difference between the 2 computers is that she has XP Home SP2 that has been used for a while, and I have a vanilla install XP MCE. Any suggestions on what might cause this to happen?
  12. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

@Tarkus: Ok, I'll look for the other .dats. As far as the water polution issue, I have no internet connection at home and so haven't been doing much downloading. The only thing I changed from before and after is I downloaded and installed NAM 2 and RHW13. Also, after installing these my game is crashing randomly, and not when hovering TE lots, just random. I only get to check these threads about once daily, so I'll go home and check the .dats and then also I'll be waiting paitently for a reply. As well as wider rhw and TLA and all. lol. Thanks for all the hard work you're putting into these transit mods.
  13. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

I have 3 now. I just installed the new NAM and RHW, and I have 3 RHW files. And I can't find the rail curve. Where is that? Finally, probably not related, if I place and then delete and then place again one of the red hole large water systems, it gives me un-cleanable water pollution over my whole city. This has only happened after I install the RHW13 and Nam20. Any ideas why this might be?
  14. Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support

What about RHW under 1-way? I haven't been able to find any of them. And Tarkus, Can we maybe get some pictures and an update on the progress with your new TLA's and RHW-x and everything please? I'm really excited for them but haven't seen any really new work in a long time....
  15. NAM: Development

@The GLR-A Team: Love the work being done on the GLR in avenue pieces, and I know my suggestion would involve a lot of work, but I think it might be more realistic to have the GLR pieces that are just regular GLR to be on a transparent packground instead of on pedmalls, and I think that the GLR-A pieces could be just the tracks on asphalt. (Which is how they are on all the tracks I have ever seen.) I think that would look more natural than having GLR-A on the pedmall tiles. I know this involves a lot of texturing and that, and since I can't do textures (look how my GLR skin turned out for an example) I will understand if it is not put in the release, but it would also allow for the turn lanes because its just the tracks on regular road. Sorry if I babble but I think that would be a way to incorporate GLR-A and turning lanes in one. Of course, that would mean you would HAVE to have turning lanes, because it would be part of the actual texture, but it might be worth it for a lot of people. Also (and this might be better for the requests thread) is there anyway to get a split track GLR station that is only 1 tile wide? There were a couple released a while back but they all had a parking lot and so were impractical in most areas. These are what Salt Lake has everywhere and they work really well in the mixed traffic areas in downtown and on the University line. Anyway, take my suggestions as they are. It'd be cool but I do understand if y'all have other things you are working on.
