Curved puzzle pieces for roads, one-way roads, and avenues would be nice.

kj3400:  The Curved roads for road/ave are already included in the latest NAM!

-Press TAB in your road/ave puzzle pieces thumb.  The curved puzzle pieces should be at the end.

Curves for one-way and ground highway are currently in the works.

For more information, Check the NAM threads @ SC4D:

Haljackey-

No, I mean elevated road/Ave/one-way puzzle pieces. To make curving elevated networks look nicer.

I think the best thing for the future of the RHW is a RHW-4 to RHW-4 interchange or RHW-6.

No its to hard to (it takes to much space) make a interchange like the ones you can plop. What I mean is that they should make plopable interchanges for RHW.

I really would like to have a puzzle-piece that connects ground "smallrails" to subways, maybe using something that looks like the entrance to a tunnel.

(not downwards like the high-rail => subway piece, but rather into a wall.)

It would also be nice to have like a big subway entrance (9X9?)

Are there any plans to visually improve Ground/Ave interchanges?? I am sure that several other people find the default interchange somewhat of an eyesore...any tweaks would greatly enhance ground highway networks IMV.

I'd like to have a GLR in Avenue station that doesn't work as a bus stop. Is it possible??

By what do you mean?  (In which way?)  I think they look fine...

I think there are some stations like that.  Check the GLR stations thread in this section or search GLR (or Ground light rail) on the STEX.

the past few releases haven't improved the freeway infrastructure of the game.....

i'm curious.... when will we see more..... FREEWAY options..particularly the ones i've been seeing....... with a frewway merging into another one - or splitting etc....

i would like to see a 3way freeway interchange as well.....which i've mentioned i believe...3-4 years ago.....

oh well - if i knew how to model this - i have the programs..... i would do so.....and figure out what spaces needed.....styles...etc...to get it right texture wise...i would do it! - but i also would need help making it actually function...

Yes the some of the newer NAMs have improved the freeway (highway) infrastructure of the game.  The Euro/lateral ramps are a newer addition, the on-slope puzzle pieces, the gentle ground highway curve, the straight ground highway/raised road ramps, etc.  (Not to mention the tremendous work with the RHW [Rural Highway] project.)

I am sure we will see more freeway (highway) options in the game.  But you need to consider the work it takes to make something like this.  I have seen many interchanges abandoned throughout my membership at ST (and also quite a while before I became a member).  Many interchanges remain half-finished, simply because it is too much work to complete and therefore abandoned.

-Some examples include a trumpet interchange (the 3-way you were requesting), a highway/ave parclo interchange, a unique 4 way interchange, Y and partial Y interchanges, and various other stack interchanges.

If you want to see some stuff that was/is in the works, check out the "A Compendium of Interchanges @ SC4D" (link also in my signature).

To my knowledge, I think another trumpet interchange is in the works, but progress is slow.  I am sure a member of the NAM Team (previously known as the mod squad: transport) can further explain your questions.

TEG24601:  Well the problem with making these components is that the raised networks are 3D networks, and thus require a lot more modeling and modding to my knowledge.

-I too would like to see a 45° turn in the raised networks.  The raised rails have a puzzle piece for this now, but the road networks do not.

Best,

-Haljackey

That's what I was trying to say before. Guess I wasn't too clear. But it would be nice.

Bigger roundabout to connect more roads to would be great in the game as well.

Actually to be honest Roundabouts are designed for a specific amount of road reduction and you can only bring in a few at a time... DOT stance on roundabouts from Wisconsin.... from the JS about Roundabouts....  Check here to see if your state has a roundabout, just select your state and leave all other searches the way it is and there are no pics at all but it gives an idea what and how many roads are consilidated.... IIHS or the Insurance Institute for highway safety take on it with a Q/A [linkie]

i thought about that...but is it really 2 transit types? since GLR is simply El-Rail dropped to ground level?

Well, that depends on whether or not A1N2D3R4E5W6 meant Elevated Light Rail (the Maxis network) or Elevated Heavy Rail (like the puzzle pieces).  Elevated Light Rail would be possible (2 networks, since GLR is just a variant), Elevated Heavy Rail would not (3 networks, as Andreas pointed out).

Since the NAM improved road-road 3- and 4-way intersections, and avenue-avenue 4-way intersections, maybe it could improve:

oneway- road intersections

oneway- avenue intersections

oneway- oneway intersections

avenue- road intersections

avenue-avenue 3-way intersections

I saw this at Haljackey's SC4 archive at SC4D:

cmsdev05hi8kt9.jpg

It's a medianless 4-lane road. I think if it came to fruition, it would be great to diversify transit networks.

Would it be possible for a modder to make a starter piece for it, and transit-enable it as an avenue like the RHW, GLR, and HSR?

Please post replies. I believe that it would be good if it was done.

Patricius Maximus, I believe that was a prototype memo did about 1 1/2 years ago for a "Boulevard" mod.  jplumbley and I are planning on eventually doing something similar as part of the Network Widening Mod (NWM).  It's not likely to be in the first release of the NWM, however.

(And for those who are wondering, there is no set release date for the NWM, nor will there be, as is the case with all NAM Team projects. We like to surprise people. 2.gif)

Why not include a highway that is more than 3 lanes wide, and one way highways?

Also, why not include elevated railroad stations into NAM?
