Kingofblades: Thanks, You can already put to avenue on (one on each side) and just decided to show one for some reason I can't remember, the interchange is included in yesterdays NAM (jan 08) link in my sig.

Here's a few things I think should be in the next RHW:

MIS - RHW-4 transition

MIS - one way road transition

side-by-side MIS - Avenue transition

Proper RHW-ground highway (and possibly elevated highway) transitions

90° RHW gentle curve

diagonal avenue/one way road - RHW transitions

RHW-6 orthogonal-diagonal split, something like this:

||| ///

||| ///

|||///

|| //

||//

|||| |||=RHW-4 ||||=RHW-6 ///=diagonal RHW-4

RHW-4 intersections

Another request that hasn't been made at all yet:

Stairs for footbridge -- that elevator really doesn't look good... and stairs are more common, actually.  This could be a two-tile puzzle piece.  Also, a three-tile or four-tile ramp should also look good

:-(

already missed a wide version on the regular roundabout,

but for this a wide version was even more useful.

one could do better with two avenues to each side.

p.s. have a look at the google map link above if i confused you.

 To the bright-heads at the NAM team:

Thank you for all your hard work upon this update.

I'm just surpised that you haven't ran out of ideas yet.17.gif

BTW Haljackey

-no "pedestrian tubes" have been developed to date to my knowledge.

Anyways, I hoped answer some of your questions Nacoran.

Best,

A few weeks ago I when to some japanese BAT sites. I think I saw some modifaction for the monorail. Instead of the regular rail, it was replaced by some of blue-green tubes that had took 7-10 tiles just curve diagonally. I don't know if was the "pedestrain tubes" Nacoran was talking about, but I saw no vechiles for it. I don't remember the site's name but if you want me to, I can probably find it again.

warrrior: I ll try to, but I'm not making any promises. It has been a while since I saw that site. I guess i should start at the 'Giantatic Japanese BAT Gallery'.

EDIT_ almost close to the mod, i can feel it ! Also ,I have an idea for new highway mood.

Everybody should know by now that the barrier that surround and divide the maxis highways are  jersey barriers. I was wondering if someonecould modify them ( or least give some to RHW) to this : http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5c/French_Autoroute.jpg ( from wikipedia)

I find them to be more interesting than the orginal barriers and they give autobahns and motorways in Europe more taste.

What do you think ?

It is probably impossible but it would be really great to see a modd where all the traffic uses the freeway systems and do not travel through the city. Even my tiny quiet neighbourhoods are backed up. side streets are always quiet in real life. Wee need to force traffic onto our freeways.

Some hov lanes on the inside of the highways would look amazing when the rhw 8c and 10c come out and it would be awesome too with highway deviders that match the textures of the rhw so they dont look out of place

Hmm... Why did my last post get deleted???

Originally posted by: Neddiggis Hal, why do your pics take so long to load? I'm on a fast connection and the pic still hasn't loaded in the time it took me to type this.quote>

It may be because I recently downloaded THIS, which instantly takes a full resolution image in JPEG format without any conversion or resizing.

However, as I have discovered, the file size of this JPEG is almost, if not the same size of the PNG taken with the camera tool in SC4.  I have decided not to use this program anymore, because of the long loading times that are a side effect of this program.  From now on, you shouldn't have any huge wait times viewing my pictures just like you didn't in the past.

Best,

EDIT: I have no idea why, but my last post was deleted and somehow reappeared in the traffic simulator thread this morning.  I am assuming the moderators are aware of this issue because it was added in my a moderator.

Anyways, allow me to re-post my last-deleted post below:

(if that makes any sense at all) 46.gif

I'm not 100% sure, but what you requested may be already possible with the current NAM.

This isn't the same configuration as you requested, but you can remake it to resemble what you want it to be.  Have a look on the lower right of the picture below:

Click on the image to view it in FULL RESOLUTION!

I think the name of the ramp is called the lateral Euro ramp, found in one of the interchange tabs in the highways menu.

I was playing with the GLR in Avenue and I was thinking that we should have a roundabout for it. Maybe we could have a station in the middle as well.

I am looking for tunnel modding information. I did the search thing but don't seem to have the correct word(s) and I've been thru 11 pages of this thread with no luck.

I have this theory about tunnels being related to bridges, entry/exit/transition pieces and repeating segments in between. The exemplers of the transition pieces connect two locations on the map and determine/store the travel time/distance. The repeating segments are for U Drive.

Anyone out there with more in depth knowledge for locating said information here on ST?

thanks,

Rabbyt

Tunnels have been "mod'd" (they can't truly be moded but they can be altered in a way).. They were written about in a thread, and I believe they are referred to in the HSRP thread.. maybe you could search there.

btw I assume you know you can search a topic as well as the forum generally... at the top of the page is a "search topic" box.. entering "tunnel" in that would have given you each message in this thread with "tunnel" in it.. beats reading many pages

This is already in the NAM. Go to your transit menu, then pick avenue puzzle pieces. Keep pressing TAB until you get to it, it is near the end of the puzzle piece cycle.

Request:

GLR bridges.

Observations/Justification:

I've seen this mentioned a few times in the various NAM threads, but so far the best available solution seems to be 'use the GLR/El transitions and make an EL bridge.' Which is what I've already been doing for water crossings. It works, certainly...but aesthetically it kinda sucks, plus you end up using 12 tiles that could be used for GLR intersections. Plus, this solution fails in one major regard: crossing sunken ground-level highways. The whole GLR-ground highway conjunction issue is quite problematic, and a nice draggable bridge system similar to that used for standard rail would make for a really nice solution here. (NB: I haven't tried using the hole digger/tunnel method to run my GLRs *under* highways; my first thought on this is that they'd end up turning in to El-rail the way they do with bridges.) (EDIT:  I tried it.  After being unable to force a tunnel after running 6 tiles back from the highway, I gave it up since I wouldn't be gaining anything from it anyway)

I'm not a modder or modeler, and I don't really have the tools to *be* one due to my being stuck in rural hades with no high-speed access. I can suggest, though, based on what I know of the game and general programming logic, that a knowledgeable modder might take a look at the existing rail bride logic for possible solutions. Right now, it is quite possible to drag a standard rail over a sunken ground level highway and get a nice, flat little bridge that goes across. Roads work, too.

I'm sitting here thinking "oooh, and a ground highway over ground highway would be sweet!" but I *suspect* that as I play around with the sunken highway concept, I'll find that I can fake this by running ground highway crossings up to the edge of the sunken highway on both sides, and then connecting them with elevated highway. I'll let y'all know how this works when I try it. (EDIT:  Tried it, it works.  Of course, you can't use the cloverleaf ramps this way, but you can cobble a fake cloverleaf together with road ramps easily enough)

Finally, huge, huge thanks to the whole NAM team, past and present, for their hard work. I did a lot of modding for Morrowind back in the day, and I know how time-consuming and difficult it can be. I've also done some playing around with iLive and SC4 modding, but it was years ago, and the work was completely redundant - pollution eliminators, radical radius expansion for fire/police buildings, that kind of thing - so I never bothered releasing it (and I don't even use my own modds now!) Anyway, I'm rambling: just wanted to let the NAM team know that their work is highly appreciated, and to beg for some love for those of us who use your GLR tools far more often than we probably should 4.gif

Best,

LowGenius

There exists a GLR On-Slope piece that transitions GLR to EL-Rail in very few tiles. I use that to create highway overpasses, and even bridges. You just have to be creative with the pieces to create the bridges as the On-Slope pieces cannot be placed on level terrain.

blogFuniculaire400.jpg

I have searched bats and forums for a hill climber or funiculaire.  I am surprised that this would not have been done before.  I wonder if it would be possible to have a modified GLR that would work in such a way on hill sides and mountains?  If this has been done, please let me know.

The puzzle piece GLR will go up any slope but the actual train/ms will not have the "staricase" effect, they will go up at a high angle.

And I guess a mix of current puzzle pieces could be used to make the roundabout above.

warrior ,

I found the system of green tubes I was talking about earlier! Here is

the site where they are located :  http://homepage2.nifty.com/kamurai/simcity/log11.htm

Item No. 884

I don't think they are  the pedestrian tubes we were looking for..... but they sure are amazing. They may be replacements for monorail or el-rail. Not sure, like I said earlier they did not have vechiles for it, but they do have a station. You'll have to see them for yourself.

Found them! Hope they help,

                                       Fresh Prince

NOTE- That "stepped" light rail line rjlah posted is called a funciluar railway.

Here a webpage about it (from wikipedia): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funicular
