I have a request. I have difficulty getting some of the latest NAM additions to work. These are mainly the draggable GLR, the avenue roundabouts and finally the all the gentle road/ rail curves except for the 45 degree rail curve. Anyways, I'm thinking it's very hard to explain everything in detail for how to get each of them working so I was thinking if they could give their technical assistance on youtube. The NAM Team could show some of us (and me) where to particularly to find it, how to use it and, if there's a problem, how to get it. I don't know if anyone suggested about it but I just thought about it now and if anyone did suggest it, I'm already looking for it in youtube 9.gif.

Go to the troad menu and look for a picture of a avenue roundabout. If it's not there you have Jan 07.

Did you read the readme? maybe you should remove the older nam if you have it.

Hey Fresh Prince of Wmbg. To my knowledge, this has been tried, but cannot be implemented for a trasit-enabled network. The only way to actually have wires would be using overhanging props, which have to be placed right next to the network.

My knowledge on this is a little vague, but I hope I answered your question!

Hi everyone.

First of all i wanna thank all people contributed to the NAM - without those noble people, things like this would NEVER been possible:

interchangeproblemexq7.th.jpg

interchangeproblemexq7.jpg

I have a suggestion for a simple ( hope so...) missing puzzle piece, with wich the functionality and possibilities of the "splithighway principle" could be drastically enhanced.

As u can see on my pci, the split lane has to merge with the middle, main highway - unfortunatly there is only 1  way to merge the split lane with the middle Highway

The next pic shows the problem and some numbered Areas, which i discuss below:

interchangeerklrunghk4.th.jpg

http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/3232/interchangeerklrunghk4.jpg

1.

Change elevated split Highway to ground, then merge with straight onewayroad-on/offramp to elevated main highway.

The other way round is NOT possible, because u can t connect the elevated on/offramp puzzle piece to the split elevated highwaylane....

2.

Unfortunatly these "cut in half" transitons of el<->ground HW are very sensible  and tend to vapourize without any obvious reason.

2a

Further, its very tricky (and i dont understand why) to connect a onewayroad/whatever, aftrer u created a splitransition - as u can see, the marked area 2b is the MINIMAL length of ground HW split lane, until i can connect ANYthing other or even to reconnect ground HW (makes me MAD!!!!

3.

In my mind, the  solution is a split-elewatedhighway <->Onewayroadpuzzlepiece transition piece! Like the elAveneu<->elHW puzzlepiece - only cut in half!

this would offer a bunch of new possibilities and drastically enhance the use of multihigwaylanes!

( i hope it wasn´t mentioned before somewhere in this thread)

4

Another possibility would be a ploppable transtion - like shown beside 4. in my picture

I hope i was able to make obvious what´s the problem, and that iam not the only one, interrested in the advance of multihighways....

Hello

I think it would be good if we could use ferries. I cant get them working because the residencial sims go to "nowhere" with the ferries.

Citymax: Well, you can create a GLR bridge this way in the meantime.

1. Select the GLR to elevated rail transition found in the GLR puzzle pieces icon

2. Drag elevated rail over the river, creating a bridge,

3 Select the GLR to elevated rail transition found in the GLR puzzle pieces icon, and continue with your GLR line.

Thats what I do. I hope this helps! I find that there is usually a loophole in SC4 if you want to get something done.

Best,

-Haljackey

Awesome work!

A little question - will it be possible, to connect transit networks i.e. road & 1-wayroads

to the onewayroadtile inbetween the roundabout and the off/onramp?

If not it would be nice if this tile would be removed, to move the ramps more close to the roundabout, just for optic and space issues.

The On/Offramps are seperate puzzle pieces already available in the NAM.

Meaning:

You do not need all 4 Off/on ramps connected/placed.

You will be able to make the length from ramp to the roundabout any size, the picture shows the lenght at it's smallest.

You will be able to connect other networks to the slip roads

You will be able to connect One Way roads to the other Avenue Roundabouts in the same fashion shown above

It is still possible to connect Avnues the same way as shown in the first picture.

I hope I've answered yours and others questions.

Double decker super highways/bridges and appropriate on/off ramps would be cool, and is there a way to place regular roads running parallel under raised transportation (highways, els, monorails)?, Mixed rail highway bridges, under highway parking garages, basically anything to let you stack more layers of transportation would rock. Monorails that run through an upper floor of a building like at Disney World, maybe a monorail Grand Central, double decker monorail, one on top, one hanging like a cable car, cable cars...

Of course that is just to tide me over until someone builds personal transportation pneumatic tubes like on the Jetsons and Futurama.

Nacoran:

-Double-decker highways are being worked on by Fukda the last time I checked.

-If you download the NAM (in the mods and downloads section), there are puzzle pieces that enable you to create roads under elevated rail. Currently, there is none made for monorail/elevated highway yet.

-Double decker bridges (top highway, bottom rail) are being worked on by jeronij the last time I checked.

-To my knowledge, no under highway parking garages have been made to date.

-"Double decker monorail" as you stated in your last paragraph sentence have not been made to date to my knowledge.

-no "pedestrian tubes" have been developed to date to my knowledge.

Anyways, I hoped answer some of your questions Nacoran.

Best,

-Haljackey

I was wondering if you could make some new tiles for GLR-road/avenue/one way road intersections. In my city, every intersection with our light rail doesn't have gates and flashing lights. Well, not in the inner city anyway. I was thinking of tiles with traffic signals and tiles that also involve intersections with adjacent roads. is this possible?

wir3d: Thanks It's quite common in the UK

Street, Road, One way road and avenue under or over higfhway is possible but will never be done as there can only be one capacity and speed per network, so either the road will have a very high speed and capacity compared to normal or the highway very low speed/capacity compared to normal, defeating the point entirely. How ever non-road networks, rail etc, can be under /over road networks.

how about lightrail stops that double as bus stops alog the GLR-avenue's and maybe these could be placed on top of existing networks.

hey all

I'm not sure if it is on here already donebut...

what about an reverse lane road or avenue? [along with bridges as well]

That has traffic going one way at one time of the day and then it swtiches at another time of day.

So that it acts as a one way road but flips back the other direction so it saves some space.

here is a wikipedia link for some other information: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reversible_lane)

It would need signs above the road at times which red and green lights so you could see what way the traffic lanes were operating.
