*dodges barrage of bricks resulting from stupid joke*

Actually, I thought it was a very smart joke. 9.gif

@Anung Mwka: Obviously, it's done when it's done - there won't be any release dates for SC4 stuff ever, since we're not a company, but create such things solely in our free time.

Now here's a question!

Would it be possible to create something like this...

Railway

036094_4cd1432b.jpg

Railway width=640>

A Railway viaduct could be a great addition to SC and would look fantastic in industrial areas surrounded by Gascookers terraces and RP2005's Commercials. I don't know wheather Viaduct's like these are found anywhere outside of the UK but even if you live in the Us or Europe, they would be a good alternative to what is already on offer from Maxis.

As the photo's suggest, they cross over valley's so I wonder if these fall into your field or if they are a part of a NAM cosmetic mod.

Does anybody feel the same way?

Hello to all,

sorry for  the lack of feedback, I am trying to finish too many things at once 43.gif. The DD bridge model is stil under development and will be finished asap. A matter of time 2.gif.

IllTonkso, your bridge looks really nice I have to say. It will look wonderful in the game 44.gif

wallasey, one of the initial new bridges looks very similar to this viaduct, and there is a rail version done. Remember that those are normal bridges, so you wont be able to drag anything under them 34.gif

Nice work, everyone! I particularly love the detailing on your bridge, Jeronij!

I would love to contribute to this bridge development project. However, I would need a list of measurements, and guidelines, as well as road textures, and such.

wallasey: Maybe someone could do a cover up for the normal NAM puzzle pieces, something like Rail Trestle Over Avenue by JayStimson:
JS_Rail_Over_Avenue_Complete.jpg

It's not gonna be as high as in your pictures.

If you guys need my assistance, I could bat a few bridges - even for NAM - also (like DT) I would need exact measurements, and the road/rail textures - but surely I could help.

Well I was thinking about this model being tweaked and improved so that we can have some impressive viaducts over our river valley's. i just think that they would add more of a UK feel to our cities.

Judging by the number of willing BAT-makers, it looks like we need to form a Custom Bridge Team. Especially if this is completely separated from the NAM. I don't see any coding problems with separating them...or am I overlooking something?

EDIT: I could get some of the resources (textures, network dimensions, tiling limitations) if smoncrie doesn't pop in soon...

Wallasey: if you wanted to create viaducts higher than 15m, you'd need to use overhanging props with larger than life LODs for it to work.

Nine degrees of separation??

Well Mothas. If you read49.gif back through the thread, you will see that there hasn't been release any bridges yet, except the ones by JayStimson, which use another technic.

I don't mean to press you, just wondering how the actual double deck experiment is coming along?

^ Don't worry, I'm curious as well to hear the progress of this project.
Last time I heard about this, I think it was jeronij who presented an awesome looking double decker bridge.

I know someone probably has asked question already, but I'll ask it anyway: Does anyone know when the new bridges will be released?

screamingman12: The reason Maxis doesn't do diagonal bridges is because to do so would make sense. That's partially why sites like Simtropolis exist, so we can add on to the game things we think should've been there in the first place.

And if ya saw them, you probably wouldn't be impressed

There's not much different types of them.21.gif
