Has this changed into a bridge creation thread instead of the amazing double deck bridge experiment??? I love the new bridges, but would much more like to see the double deck bridge experiment worked on some more to the point of completion. That thing is amazing!!!

Amazing work, J.

newyorkrunaway1: I think that they will come back to later, they just need some experience with bridges in general first.

Jeroni,

Absolutely brillian work.  Who knows...maybe after it is all said and done, you guys can either add options to the bridge list or make a couple sets of bridges to replace the Maxis stuff...just a pipe dream of course.  I think regardless of what happens, your work here has become truely amazing.

And I must agree with vester_DK...these guys need to get familiar with all the ins and outs of the bridges in general before they can start modding incredible stuff like double deck bridges, avenue bridges with a rail in the center, etc.  Let these guys get the feet wet and then doggie paddle before we expect them to perform the Triple Liddy off the 30m diving platform! 17.gif2.gif

Great job guys... keep em coming! 44.gif

Guys, let me virtually hug you for this GREAT PIECE OF WORK! Like I posted in Simptropia (where Jeroni pointed me to this thread) I REALLY missed some nice stone masonry bridges especially for railways ...!
And your discovery realy opens a lot of possibilites ... (gee, if I only had the time to learn BATting ...)

BTW I can remember an interview, too, where someone from Maxis said they didn't made diagonal bridges because they wanted to add more different types to RH ... so I think it is possible ...

Jeronij, those briges look quite excellent, i must say.

About how many polygons per 1x1 section of bridge?

Hello to all

Thanks for the nice comments about the new model bridges !!!.

Brtim2, the center pieces do have from 95 polys ( street bridge) to 500 (road bridge). The one that I show you in this post has over 1000. I know, I know it is a resource killer, so I dont know if that can be released, but I plan to use it in my cities 2.gif

Yesterday I was trying to fix the old rural bridge to fix some problems I found while trying to make it a railroad bridge. I could not fix them right so I

Oh, very fancy! This is one spectacular bridge, which luckily was just what you were aiming for! 2.gif This is very, very nicely designed!

Its looks spectacular jeronij, and I hope you're proud! 19.gif You are a credit to simtropolis and simcity.

Whoa, that's some futuristic bridge! I'd love to see something like this as a monorail bridge - I always thought the single tracks without any siderails etc. are a bit bare. Concrete is maybe a bit too massive for the monorail, but it could work quite well with a tunnel like this in white anodized aluminum. Do you remember the monorail bridges in Transport Tycoon Deluxe? They looked almost the same, and I really loved them.

Over 1000 polygons?!?! Now, unless there is something different between interchanges and bridges, they should not be showing up (well, all of it at least). Interchange pieces are to be kept under 800-ish polys or all or parts of the piece will not show up. Hmm, this bodes well for my bridge then...

Speaking of which, could someone point to or post a bridge tutorial (not so muchevery aspect, just a bare bones tutorial)? Something along the lines of model it into 1x1 pieces and export making sure to change the TGI information to x,y and z.

Actually, that is all I have gathered. So, perhaps just starting there until I can export my pieces and then I can ask some more questions (or anyone else working along at home).

Also, excellent bridge jeronij, that does look sleek and modern. I think the 'resource killing' is in response to the LODs. I'm pretty sure you can have a very detailed building with over 1,000,000 polys that takes up the same resources in game as a newpaper box as long as the LODs are perfect rectangular prisms. At least that is what I have gathered. It isn't the building itself that dictates the perfermance requirements, it's the LODs around said building. I think.

Jeronij, your bridges are fabulous! the dream of new bridges become reality! Great work!

Like Brtim2, to post a tutorial can be a good idea.

I have another question : Is it possible to make avenue bridges and highway bridge too? I have some ideas like the viaduct of Millau, a calatrava's bridge and an old parisian bridge, I could realize them if it is possible...

@smoncrie: As you might have seen, I released a new BAT set today where you can build highway bridge construction sites. These are merely eye candy, but would it be possible to adapt the BAT models in the same manner as jeronij did for his bridges, so we could build them with the network tools? Here's a picture how they look like:

all i got to say is this thread is great i like the work

i think that when they make about 5 to 10 bridges they should make a bridge pack so we could download it here and on stnam whenever that comes back up

Looking at Andreas Roth's pictures of highway construction bridges, is that a hint of possibilty that there are bridges out there which you can build transit networks under?  I'd love to be able to build a huge railway viaduct and have roads going underneath it.

No, these bridges were made with props that extend beyond the lot borders. Some people experimented with real bridges that allow transit networks underneath, but they work only under very special circumstances.
