I wonder if the bridge is going  to be make like as the Suspended Style of Tsing Ma Bridge. I can't wait to put this double-decker bridge to replace to old one in my CJ ( see my signature ) because I'm force to creat a unrealstic rail bridge for the Airport Express Link and the Tung Chung Line. It should be under the Tsing Ma bridge. Anyway your model is awesome! I really like it. 9.gif

ILL Tonkso, I have not forgotten you.  Do you want your bridge to be like a Maxis suspension bridge?  How would your bridge look if it was 1.5 times as long? How about 3 times

If you PM me we can discuss it there 1.gif i need to know if there is anything i need to do to the model like LODding requirements and such. Oh and, can i use textures with reduced opacity? Thanks for taking this on.

Hello to all,

thanks for the feedback 44.gif. Your suggestions about the model are greatly apreciated5.gif.

chocolatemax285, I made the windows more transparent, as you pointed. You are right, the old ones were not transparent enough. About lowering the railtracks, they are 7 meters below the highway lane ( very close to the reality) which is the required height to modd it properly.

vester_DK, as you may have noticed, I have no idea on designig real life bridges 2.gif. I do apreciate your practical lessons btw 44.gif.  And the useful pics too. I have some pics on the real bridge sections already, and as mentioned, we decided to make some changes for the game, in order to be able to see the trains trough the bridge.

jesselong, yes, the bridge is suposed to look like the real Tsing Ma bridge. You can see I havent worked on the cables. Smoncrie told me that the game engine places them. I think we will have to work with them once a beta version of the main model is done and can be used in game. The model will probably need some improvements to allocate them.

and thanks to  Dr. Frickenstein and umnoscottishhootsmon  for the big collection of ducks and bunnies 44.gif

Now some pics on the progress. I added some more details and I started to work with the central pylons.

The time to place the lights is arriving. I have a problem though. I have found two night pics on the real bridge, but they are way different one from each other. You can see what I mean:

<ahttp://img249.imageshack.us/img249/7138/tsingmabridge1night9vl.jpg align=baseline>

<ahttp://img249.imageshack.us/img249/6030/tsingmabridge2night6lx.jpg align=baseline>

So, one looks yellow. The other one looks more pink. Does anybody know which is the right one ?

jeronij - I go to Hong Kong in a few days. The good news is that I will probably cross over and under at least a few times since it forms the main route to the airport. I may be able to get some pictures of the anchorages and other parts of the bridge if you'd like. Bad news is that I will probably cross at the worst time of day (after midnight). :\

That is stunning, just stunning! Thanks for taking my suggestion! It looks beautiful, and oh so amazing.

You are a champion Jeronij!

EDIT: I think you should go with the second lights combination, the strong yellow and blue look superb. Cheers.

Hello again,

Thanks for the amazing feedback. I am glad to see that you like the model and that I am not making a bad work 2.gif

HONKKONG,  thanks for the pic. I have found a good one on the tower anchorages too, but without the long antena. I think I will add it. It seems sometime the red lights on the top were moved still higher. What I need is a pic on the bottom anchorages. Where the cables are attached to the ground. If you coul post a pic of them I would really apreciate it.

2 questions
  1. whats the current poly count?
  2. also the bridge should be a ble to repeat itself over and over, like the ones in game where the longer you draw it the more pylons appear (if that makes sense)? am i correct?

its amazing, however i have one concern41.gif with the over head signs on the road surface of the bridge.

for people with the uk version of the game where the cars drive on the left, will the bridge still be usuable, and secondly would it be possible to release 2 versions one for left one for right hand drive countries?

btw did i mention that this is flippin awesome yet?44.gif

Ive died and gone to Simcity Heaven35.gif35.gif35.gif

that is the sexiest simcity thing ive seen in a while

BTW, i dunno which pic of the nightlite is right, but i think the top one, the pinkish one, is correct. We've all seen those photos that make fluorescent light look green and the colors striking, but not really correct. The pinkish one looks like it is what the bridge really looks like

I don't know if this is too late or not, but I vote to go with the 'pink-ish' or red color. AWESOEM job btw! Man, I just downloaded the whole BAT gmax package and if only I could learn how to do that stuff... I still don't even know how to make a house 46.gif15.gif

    Jeronij,

    The bridge looks very good so far, and it will very likely be usable.  I think the cables can fitted to the correct positions on your model as long as they are inside the tiles.

    You could make one or more of the end pieces include the cable anchors. At this point I do not know if the cables can go below the level of the bridge deck to reach the anchors as the real ones do.   It also might not be possible to make the below bridge portion of the cable part of the model because the angle of the cables may depend on the length of the bridge.

    For very long bridges I suggest a single long span like the game

    Hello to all,

    Some answers first.

    Toxicpiano. I dont know how many polys I used so far. It is not important at this stage. As you correctly pointed, the bridge is made of several repeating and rotating tiles. In the images there are actually five different tiles. Start/End (2 tiles). Central Pylon (1 tile). repeating section ( 1 tile), repeating section with supports (1 tile).
    Once the model is completely finished, I
