I got it the day before it officially came out in Canada. (Pssst, I know the store owner quite well... ;) )

I can't remember when I got it, but it was several years ago.  I just know I got the deluxe version for PC, then several years later I got the Mac version through Aspyr.

I highly anticipated SimCity4 vanilla leading up to it's launch, buying it release day.  I guess that was '03 but if I didn't look it up I wouldn't even remember anymore  .  I also really looked forward to Rush Hour; buying it on release day.  Then of course I bought Deluxe once it was released, but with nothing to be excited about I'm pretty sure it wasn't on release day.

2003

i remember buying a new computer to run it, paid for it on my Mobil gasoline credit card as Mobil sent out advertisements to sell a 486 dx25 computer and monitor that could be paid for in monthly installements on the gasoline credit card so I took advantage of it so that I'd have a computer that would play SC4 acceptably.  Prior to that I was still using my old 286 computer.

Lol, a 286 up until 2003.  I don't know how ya did it...  I happen to have a 286 laying around still, with a 386 actually, but neither were powered on since 1990.  good stuff!

I think I got it in 2004, but I shelved it for a while since I sucked playing the game. Picked it up back in 2006 and since then, I fell in love with this game. Got Rush Hour in 2007 second handed.

I don't really remember, but I think it was in 2004. I didn't get it right away, that much I remember. Borrowed it, tried it out a few days, sucked at playing it, brought it back and planned to buy it eventually, but didn't get around to actually doing that.

It took quite a while for me to buy it finally. Judging from the time I registered at SC4 community websites, it must have been 2004.

I still have the original box art SC4 and Rush Hour expansion. I remember that the Rush Hour expansion used to be very, very hard to come by in Germany back then. I was glad when I finally got it second hand on eBay for ~6 Euros (used to be ~30 Euros new back then, and mostly ~27 Euros used, when the regular game retailed for 10-15 Euros!) because the poor bloke had misspelled it and nobody found his auction except for me.

I got SC4 vanilla on 5th January 2007, that's the Epiphany night in Spain (where people get presents from the Three Wise Men). Installed it that same night and began playing.

I sucked at this game and I played sporadically watching my run-down, broken-dreamed game streets until 28th January 2008, when I registered on Simtropolis looking advice and cool custom content for my vanilla game. It didn't work without the Rush Hour expansion, so I looked for it desesperately. I got it some months later, can't remember exactly when, from a local videogame store which still had a copy nobody had (incredibly!) bought yet.

Even though I was amazed by the new possibilites RH brought, it wasn't until February 2009 when I went active in Simtropolis and the REAL fun began.

October 2003 I think, because in September I still played SimCity 3000.

I believe I bought the Deluxe Edition sometime in 2006. I got my IBM in late-2005. Back then, the only major game I had on a CD was RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. It was fortunate I bought it then; that was the only time I saw the Deluxe Edition sold in rectangular box form.

If I remember correctly, I bought SC4 vanilla in late 2003. Then in 2004, I acquired the RH expansion pack, and also the Prima strategy guide. From then, I played the game on and off for a few years, beginning to progressively loose interest as time went by. It was only until discovering the world of custom content that renewed my interests in the game. Realising the enormous potential for expansion and customisation, I haven't looked back since.
