I probably would have waited, and skipped the deluxe edition which has been disappointing (need to stop doing that with games, haha). But I do like the game...maybe just not $60 like it.

I'm not happy with the game, but I would definately buy it.

I've had some fun with it, but it's a big let down compared to what I was expecting/hoping.

There are some franchises that I would buy even if they were being sold by a snake oil salesman and the game was a packaged in a box made from dog $%&^! and it carried a 50% chance that the world would end if it was installed on my PC. Sim City is one of them.

I still would have bought it... but knowing what I know now, I would have waited for the price to drop to $29.99  (which was basically week 2-3 for most retailers).

With well over 100 hours within the first month of play, I'd say yes.

For all the song and dance about this game, I've had more hours of play time in the first month than I've put into other games.

Since I only paid like $28 for the game from Origin India when they still allowed it, so I'd definitely do it again. Won't pay full price for it though.

With that said, I've probably spent more time on this game than any other game in recent memory (Skyrim excepted), once I got over losing my first city to one of the bugs (cannot get too attached to any city, that's the only way to "survive" this game). So even paying $60 for it is probably better than buying a bunch of $5 - $15 games on Steam that I never even bother to play, which I have done regularly in the past.

I wouldn't buy it again and i don't think i will like this game more after the patches. I will try it once in a while because maybe i'm wrong and SimCity will be great in a few month but i doubt it.

It would be interesting to see how members < 2 years and members > 2 years have voted.

Edit for being OT, to avoid a bumb and just to say thank you: Thanks MandelSoft, nice chart!   8)

Just a reminder, unless it adds to the discussion, making comments about the latest poll status isn't really necessary.

    Thanks. :)

I played the game for a week after release and haven't fired it up ever since. All bugs, issues aside it just doesn't seem to be as fun; and games by  definition should be first and foremost fun! At least I got the $40 Amazon preorder deal so I don't feel too bad.

Anyway I would not purchase it again. In fact I managed to convince 3 people so far to not buy the game. EA/Maxis, never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth :kitty:

I voted for no because I didnt buy it and still have no intention of getting it, what a load of dross.

I am playing a brilliant game that came along just after I cancelled my Simcity preorder called Kerbal Space Program and so far I have racked up 120 hours of really great fun play time for a price of only £18 and its still in alpha stage so its going to get more added to it over time. The KSP devs are good devs, they are honest and their game is practically bug free already unlike SImcity - a game done by a much larger developer with far greater resources and arguably one with far less substance. Makes you wonder doesnt it? I will never buy a constant online DRM game and I will never probably buy an EA game - they are load of moneygrabbing crooks.

Probably yes, because I loved sim city 4 and wanted to see the progression of the franchise. Overall sim city 5 is a good game. I dislike the tiny map sizes, the online requirement and other things, but the core of the game is still fun. Possibly I would have waited a while till the price dropped though. $80 is so high for this game.

I was going to wait and see how it panned out, but had the money and bought it March 5th.

On one side I wish I would have waited until the price dropped and the game was more stable and better-patched.

On the other side, it's been kind of fun being critical of it as an owner rather than watching from the sidelines.

So yeah, I'd probably still buy it knowing what was ahead.  Game has promise, but was still released too early.

Its to early to say for me, I played it solidly for first week/couple of weeks but got very bored and some of the bugs/restrictions/small tile size meant I lost interest and have not really played it since. However the game is still being patched and will be developed through DLC which could make it better and address the issues I have with it. Though if the upcoming DLC preview is anything to go by its not looking to great lol.

    As it stands currently: No

If It improves: Maybe I hold judgment for now lol.

If I could do it again, i shouldn't have bought it.

It's not that the game is bad but it just doesn't fit me like SimCity 4 does.

What I like about SC4 is the freedom you get, the possibilities you have re HUGE.

Giant maps you can turn into a city or make a small town surrounded by nature. That's whar I miss in SC2013.

The lack of space and terraforming.

That aside, SC2013 is a beautiful game and looks great but not my style of SimCity.

I have not picked it up yet, waiting on the Mac version to be released (I know about the buying the PC and having access to the Mac version stuff, and I might buy it if it goes on sale again in the meantime).

I'm pretty torn.  In theory, by the time the Mac version is released, many of the problems will be fixed, modding maybe in.

But I'm also concerned about the space and size of the cities. If they don't adjust the size of the cities, it's going to be tough for me to really like over the long term.

    No

I REALLY enjoyed playing it at first despite the troubles. But now that i've discovered it's so fundamentally broken and I don't believe it will/could be fixed I wouldn't waste my time again.

I would also like a refund on the months and months of excitment and anticipation that came before release too.

No, especially at the rate Maxis is sorting out the problems.  I really just want them to fix the damn bugs.

I understsand launch issues on a multiplayer game, but it actually hid most of the gameplay problems.

Here I am looking at a city that has "peaked" under current traffic & agent mechanics along with debilitating bugs.  Not to mention the absent, core city features such as better transit systems & tools which will probably be DLCed in.

I'm simply astonished how they think it's fine and dandy to bulk all fixes in one big patch when they could have hotfixed a couple in while we waited for the "big one".  Given their shoddy business practice, why wasn't I allowed to pay $10 for this game and pay more as they fixed all the problems? Because I didn't get a "full-feature" game.  They claim this is a multiplayer/social game, but why is there still significant lag when I'm using the in-game chat to communicate with my friends? Why the heck is the chatbox so tiny & non-resizable? Why does the core social/multiplayer features like Great Works and resource/service sharing not sync/work properly?

I know a lot of people here are very protective of Maxis, but they are the ones responsible for ensuring good gameplay experience.

If they want to charge full retail price for a game, they need to back it up with good game & service.

Big devs like Blizzard & Valve accept the industry has evolved from retail to service.  Maxis is clearly stuck in the past with this level of incompetence.

The saddest part of this is, I knew the game wouldn't be good enough at release & I bought it for $40 on Amazon.  Even then I'd say EA/Maxis is laughing their way to the bank because this game isn't worth $20.

Now its turning into an advertising platform for people to spam rubbish at you and make you buy nissan cars or toothpaste I have now decided no I will not buy this game in hindsight. I don't buy games to be brainwashed into buying tosh. I have the car I want so i'm not buying a nissan eco box and I would be worried if I didn't already buy toothpaste lol.

Yes I would buy it again, I read all the bad comments and stuff before buying it, and I have to say that some of the stuff has happened to me, but I spent so much more time on this game than on any others recently.

The only thing is that it could be better and since the last update downloaded with cheetah speed re enabled I keep getting errors. before I didn't have to many.

Given the massive bugs, online issues, lost cities, no chance of it being fixed by mods, absurd DLC and an entirely broken game engine?

Hell no.  I've gotten more enjoyment out of Societies...

If it were never going to change I would have said "No".  However, I have long been a Diablo player, and learned that a few good patches make a drastic change in the game.  I am hoping for the same for SimCity.  They have all ready made some progress, just make maps a little bigger and fire departments a bit more efficient and I will be a happy player.
