I can assure you the concept of wind turbines in the middle of a city will never happen. Those things are loud, really loud when they work. They would act as serious NIMBYs; provided the contractor was allowed to build them in a city on the first place.

 

 

100% correct. Unless the technology advances to such an extent that they can be rendered silent they will never be near a house. 

I run in the countryside here in Sweden and there are a fair few of these dotted around. I pass by about 5-6 during a run and they are insanely loud.

funny enough I just found out that Bahrain WTC is a real life wind turbine that attached in the building..

 

I knew this case. Actually there is a BAT on the STEX or one of the exchanges of this building; so I'm familiar with that.

 

The wind turbines of this building are 29 meters in diameter [link]. Furthermore, the building must have a serious acoustic isolation that, in no means, regular citizens wouldn't count with. Meanwhile, in the "real world", outside the "Oh, look how Eco we are!" oil-fueled nations...

 

 

That's almost 4-fold with respect to the Bahrain WTC wind turbines, and only till 2005! The largest wind turbine was, as of 2014, 164 m in diameter [link].

I've driven by some pretty large windmills. They are located on the 10 freeway between Phoenix and Los Angeles.

While on the note of retro-futurism, here's a few predictions of what the 1900's thought the future was going to look like. More specifically, this was the work of Jean-Marc Côté depicting the year 2000. This was just before the first powered flight and near the end of the Victorian era.
