All the more reason for a save feature. I think it's pretty clear that the cloud is not reliable for SC13.

I suffer from crash-to-desktop issues in SC4 from time to time, but at least I can load to the last save if there's an issue. Not possible with this game. I have never been able to roll back a city either... Nothing happens when I click it.

For what it's worth, I've had several rollbacks and the latest ones have been recoverable.  What I'm curious about is what exactly causes it.  The program doesn't fault and terminate.  It's more like the save is corrupted when transmitted, not locally at all.  In at least one case I did something dumb and terminated the game from program manager and recovered to an earlier state without my mistake and without rolling back.

The fact is, relying on the cloud to store data is not reliable, so it should never be depended on as a last resort. Having a simple option to save data locally would solve many of these issues. The local data could easily be synced with the server -- either automatically, or at the player's discretion.

As far as I know, the team's still working on it.

LOL that's it?  Thanks for that.  At least someone responded I guess.

Interesting to know why there is no answer in the forum ...

Why are the patches focusing on trivial balancing issues rather than the complete SHOWSTOP...

Have you any doubt about it?

I've got a similar problem.. I can't seem to do anything with my one city. Won't load (just sits on the loading screen for eternity), won't let me roll back.. it's already been built up, so I guess it's not THAT big of a loss to the region as a whole (the region still acts like it's there and everything is fine) but it would be nice to know that I can at least get into it if I need to..

Few questions for people experiencing rollbacks..

Are you guys playing your cities on more than one computer ? (computer at home or at work)

Are you playing with anti-virus ON ?

Does it take like 5 minutes to load your city ?

Does it take more than a minute for synching your cities when you quit the game ?

What I'm curious about is what exactly causes it.

My money is on client data not matching server data for some reason - bugs, transmission errors, people fiddling with memory editors, etc. What do you do when the client wants to build a nuclear power plant with money the server doesn't think exists?

I've had to rollback 6-7 times in a row now over the course of two days. This is getting really F'in annoying. The game is so broken.

This is really strange.   I've only had one rollback the entire time I've played and I only lost about 5 minutes of stuff.    I feel sorry for everyone who is constantly rolling back.  It must be frustrating.

Anyone know who we contact (from maxis) about our cities not being able to load properly and having to continuously rollback?

I had a city rollback 4 or 5 times in 5 minutes. Once, it had to be rolledback and then when I entered, it instantly failed to process and had to rollback again...

After that insanity, no issues loading for a week. Then it happened again(different city). 3-5 rollbacks within a few minutes. Why the hell wouldn't it save locally and then sync it online? bah.

I know they are actively looking into the rollback issues, a Maxoid tweeted that they were looking into it.. Not 100% sure if they're looking into the loading issues.. it might even be related to the rollback issues. A polite tweet to one of the Maxis guys would at least make sure they're aware of the issue. Unless I'm missing it, I can't actually find a support link on the official site, aside from on the Maxis forums (which I would expect they do comb through to find issues that have cropped up.)

ROLLBACKSOLVED%201.jpg

The solution is explained in the links below

:read:  -  Temp fix for city not processing

:read:  - Temp fix for city not processing

How EA forum is bringing together any link that cite the word " RollBack" as  problem...

ROLLBACKSOLVED%20a1.jpg

today - -  How Many Of You Have Lost A City Due To a Rollback?

.               Rollbacks are UNACCEPTABLE

I think we should all disclose the maximum the links above to fix this problem that plagues those who lose their cities and do not know it.

Finally we can all expect to soon the fix all the problems since they are finding more tricks that consumers can use to patch the defective product purchased.

:thumb: - Thank you ... certainly a lot more people will know and be able to use this solution now that the post came here because as new news or topico the matter maybe  does not would have the same reach.

Either way it's nice to know they follow this forum and struggled for a solution to this problem that had the highest number of complaints.

Now just spreading the solution and everyone will be free to lose what was saved in the game.!

Here It is not a matter of choice  but simply logic because an Simcity MMO where your actions have consequences for other players must have a reginal map hosted on a server with the data update automatically.

Were otherwise there would be no real-time synchronization possible between cities or  a regional market as well  for large works.

Discussing local save then only it is possible for a single-player mode where nothing you do interferes with the game of others but we all know that hardly it will happen.

We have another example out now with CIM2 which also goes to the Multiplayer but certainly with much less interaction between the actions of mayors.
