Very nice pics, Haljackey. The second one is my favorite. I like the perspective from which it was taken.

    wow, that's dense.

Since you don't have lot of room to work with in this game building density is the way to go. Also while curved roads are nice, buildings don't like to grow neatly around them, so I suggest building a grid-like road network if you want to maximize space.

I admit the night pic looks like a real city at night. Way to go almost makes me want to get the game :)

Really liking the layout of the 5th one. The curvy avenue and the windmills look pretty cool.

The effect created by the sun in the background is beautiful. Great pic.

With these enhanced 3D graphics we're able to look at our cities not only from birds-eye view but street level, atop, or whatever you dictate the camera to go, so I decided for us to utilize this technology to the fullest and create a thread based upon semi-street level shots that would allow us to show our skylines. My city nor computer are the best, but I think my skyline looks pretty decent for now. Also I want to know how most of you use the camera while playing the game, I'm still kind of stuck in SimCity 4 mode because I always use birds-eye view to build my city; I literally had forgotten that I could move the camera around until I accidentally did it while building something. LOL But anyways my first city skyline will be found below:

    8533429402_b90c708731_b.jpg

From this angle you can see that I was trying to attempt to build two separate skylines but as growth came in both skylines have begun to emerge. The skyscraper cluster to the left is my downtown area, while the one to the right is completely residential.

    Residential area skyline.

    8532500973_44f1952c9c_b.jpg

I look forward to seeing everyone else skyline, I'm still trying to make mine denser but its costing a lot of money. I ended up taking out three city bonds just to get my city to the level it is today (31k people) and now they're paid off and I'm now I have like $110k which is nothing on this game especially when trying to combat crime, build hospitals (seems like I always need more), and etc.

If any of you really want to build a region with me, add me on origin. Its "Infoman96" of course, and only serious people invite me because I want to start construction on a hundred thousand person region and I'll need good neighbors (those who communicate with me, give cash gifts when needed as I'll do the same, build universities, dig for ore, or etc.) to make it happen. It's really tough to make it on your own in this one and thats somewhat a good thing but that means you'll need good neighbors to survive.

SN: To take photo's in this game simply press 'C' and the files will be found in your SimCity folder in which from there you click on your 'Pictures' Folder.

I don't have the graphics nearly at the level of the photos here, but eh...oh well.

Here's a progression of my skyline since I started earlier today:

Here's my skyline when we were just a tiny village. The tallest structure was city hall, which dwarfed the tiny skyline (population 6,826):

    skylineold.png

This is shortly after the construction of my first real 'tower' - a residential high-rise in the heart of downtown. You can see the University has since been established (population 44,775):

    skylinethen.png

And here's my skyline now. Lots has changed as the city has become more dense and I've pretty much run out of space (population 80,347):

    skylinenow.png

Fun fact, throughout all these pictures you can see a massive skyline of a user in my region. Somehow, in that last picture I posted, my city is now the largest of the region. I can only assume that one city had a huge drop in population after it rapidly developed ... because I don't think mine looks anywhere near that large and yet, population wise, it is.

All right, I upped the graphics and was surprised the lag wasn't much different than before. So, here are some better quality pics, as well as a few skyline shots from neighboring communities:

My skyline at night from one of the larger neighboring cities. I always thought his skyline looked impressive from my city, but my skyline is just as impressive (I'm at 94,000 or so now):

    skyline.png

My city is in the background with another larger(ish) city in the foreground:

    skyline2.png

    Some other skyline shots:

    Untitled-TrueColor-02skyline3.png

    skyline4.png

And I think this is my skyline...from way far away:

    Some street scenes:

    Here is my city. Its alittle messy for now. Im trying to restructure some parts of the cities. Curves roads dont help in housing growth ;_;

This is my one hour closed beta city, not really a skyline though. They really should have made it a global launch, not gonna have any fingers left by Friday.

Nice skyline. It's like it's a small city. Not town, but small city

I find it funny that you have a ton of sewage outflow pipes in the same area instead of investing in a Dept of Utilities and proper Sewage Treatment Plant. Anyway, continue posting these beautiful pictures everyone.

Nice pictures everyone.  I especially like the street level views.  Almost makes me want to buy the game right now.  But, I think I will still wait until the resolve some of the bugs/issues.  Maybe I'll wait until they come out with a SimCity 2013 Deluxe edition (like I waited until SC4 Deluxe came before buying it :D ).

    sigh

everything that is wrong with this SimCity is summed up in the last picture in the OP.   Beautiful city, lots of detail, 90 degree angle and nothing between the city and the highway

I agree though some of the day pics look almost Lego like. It doesn't have a "real" look to them whereas the night shots are stunning!!!

    Some really stunning pics.

Look, I agree with the complaints on tile size and the vast empty space, but man... I can tell this game has a lot of potential. Can't wait to mod this thing!

I would be interested to see cities with the European building sets.

You just gave me an idea that I should try those building sets.

I also like the moon.  The night shots in general are purdy.  But why no stars?

Maybe that's because I applied filter on graphical settings.

Nice pics everyone. Gonna have to agree with the comments about curved roads - I may experiment a little with them but for the most part I always like sticking to a grid pattern. Because I'm boring like that.
