I was doing some trolling on Origin earlier and came across a listing for the SimCity Upgrade Pack that will presumably be available at launch.

It appears to add all the building sets, transportation modes, services, and missions from the deluxe edition.

As rumoured, the price is $20 and "Requires SimCity Limited Edition to play".

The platform is still listed as 'none' for the upgrade.

There is a screenshot attached in case the link goes down.

-personally I'm glad I will be able to get this content since I will be buying a hard copy of SimTown when its released.

It's actually cheaper to buy a boxed copy of SimCity (all boxed copies are considered limited edition) then buy this upgrade than it is to buy the digital edition from Origin.

So, I actually call this a positive for anyone who wanted this content.

Actually, it is just French, German and English buildings and vehicle addon.

It is SimCity "Deluxe".  Here is more info:

    http://store.origin.com/store/ea/html/pbPage.SimcityNA

When you click show more at the store page for the upgrade pack it says the deluxe edition has more missions and achievements, and a new police building/service (but i guess this is counted as part of the French set).

As much I loved the beta and am massively looking forward to the release, I still find it baffling that this priced anything more than five quid. A few landmarks and some new building styles? For twenty beans? Tch and tsk.

Good. Now you can buy the game first if you are the type of guy to wait to see if you like the game enough to invest in addons.

£35 from amazon against £44.99 from origin

£19.99 for upgrade pack from origin

Total: £55 deluxe against origins £65

Assumming upgrade would also be available else where sometime soon, that £20 will likely drop to around £10 - £15.

According to www.thehut.com you can even buy the city sets for £7.99 each. Although the British set is not there when I checked today it was yesterday?

Who in their right mind would pay £20 for this? I guess some people must or it wouldn't be for sale. The British set doesn't even have cars driving on the left!

How would that work? Would all cars in the city start driving in the left when you placed Big Ben? Why would that be desirable? Anyway, it's $20, UK pricing hasn't been announced.

Don't forget the gift certifica you get if you buy SC on origin ;) buy the limited edition and after buying that go back and buy deluxe upgrade with the gift certifica you got for buying limited :)

I miss read some text =( so that's an expencive way to buy the games on.

And here in Norway we can only buy limited edition and Collector's edition (with only german city pack) in stores.

It is Maxis post The Sims. This is another reason I will not be buying this game. I will buy Gods and Kings for Civ V for 20 dollars, I will buy Dragonborn for TES V, but most this released by Maxis for the Sims, and apparently now for Simcity, $5 DLC will be priced as a full expansion pack.

*shakes head* remember when it was frowned upon to "release" content the same day as the game?

Its obviously content they currently have.. but you are all willing to just pay another $20.00 for it... what happened to actually buying the full game at release? who knows maybe in 10 years it'll be

"Buy the engine, and get the graphics for only $40.00!!!!!!"

BUT WAIT! there's more! act within 10 minutes and we'll include keyboard and mouse support for HALF OFF!

Dead Space 3 developers actually acted as if putting in mouse+keyboard controls was something very special. I believe some of the PC versions of later titles in the CoD series did something similar, with "MOUSE AND KEYBOARD SUPPORT!" being present on the packaging as if it were a feature worth touting.

If this is what the SimCity series has come to, buying all these game improvements and Addons as opposed to including in the game or in a single expansion pack with similar items (under a reasonable price, is it too much to ask?) then SC2013 is totally outta the question for me. It's a sad time ahead if this is the future of gaming :(

Difference between Digital Deluxe and Limited Edition is £20 in UK - and all you get extra is these packs. Madness.

Everyones view of value for money is different. If you really like the idea of designing lots of continental cities then this is probably good value considering that each pack if bought separately is £8 each. Personally I cant see the value in it myself mind a few English styled buildings and missions are not worth £8 to me.

Hey guys, does anyone know who this upgrade pack works?

I just ordered upgrade pack through the Origin site about an hour ago, and when I go to my Origin library to check out, my game's status is still "limited edition"

Is this upgrade pack will be released at the day of actual game release? or should I give at least 24 hours?

It is naturally sad to see an upgrade charged at such a price, but one imagines they have their financial considerations to think of. I would prefer expansions in the nature of Rush Hour, or something more inclusive.

Then again we can complain about the price of any item in this capitalist society of ours. The fact remains that complaining achieves nothing. If we want better value for money we must work for it.

Yeah it truely is a rip-off.  For a few cosmetic sets, that the modding community could do.

you are wrong, complaining achieves a lot.  Look at Bioware when they expanded on the ending of Mass Effect 3.  Or Activision when they stopped there always online BS.  If people don't complain and just take it, then companies will continue to do that.  The difference between a good company and a bad one, is those who actually LISTEN and take action when the customer base complains.

Honestly when I look at Star Citizen and how Chris Roberts is completely in tune with the community, and I look at companies like EA and Maxis it makes me sick and see right through there BS.  All they want to do is make money and that's it.  Believe me that is NOT what a gaming company should be all about.

FFXIV rebuilt the whole game because people thought it was bad enough.
