Is this a glitch?

I have been playing SC4 now for close to half a year and so I'm playing my city and was awarded the major league park so I went to the rewards button and plopped it down. A few minutes later I noticed on my scroll Line it said I was awarded the major league park. When I accepted it I got TWO of them!!!! The same thing happened with the zoo I have two of them as well!!!

Is this a one time glitch or can I always get two of the same awards?

I remember reading about a Maxis spokesperson actually mentioning that somewhere (back when the game came out).  I think it was a glitch, but they decided to just leave it as an easter egg after discovering it.

^^Interesting. I have noticed this periodically for some things - don't remember if it was those two in particular. I have seen things scroll by and use the menu to place them and have them still appear briefly in the scroll line. It didn't happen every time, so I just assumed it was a glitch in the timing of things. I hadn't heard it was addressed by Maxis. Thanks...

Yes it is. There is a way to get THREE! However, you need to have urgent messages off.

1. When you see the reward message, go to the rewards menu and plop it.

2. Switch on Urgent messages.

3. Plop the one from that message.

4. Enter the ticker and open the message with the reward dialogue.

5. Plop that one!

But this is pointless and repetitive.

(Oh, and our resident Moa is no longer resident. Glad to see Nonny is still up and running :P)

Well, it depends on how long you've been playing with computers in general.  You'd be amazed at some of the undocumented features occur in programs that have partially asynchronous operating modes.  In this case, just taking advantage of poor synchronization between some of the co-routines.  Nothing surprises me any more.

    I have been experimenting and realized I can get two of EVERY reward! When a reward is offered take it from the rewards button first then immediately take it from the scroll line. My sims now have more than one tv station to watch and can listen to two different radio stations :D

    You gotta be quick tho... I do this mostly with statues... As soon as I put the female one in I immediately go back to menu and get the male one... If I wait too long and the city "recognises" the female one and doesnt allow the male one (vice versa)

    *from memory*, if you hold the right mouse button when plonking down a reward it's unlimited (or some such similar, may have to do one & then bulldoze it in order to trigger the bug). But it's been awhile since I've played so don't quote me on it :P

    I like the title of this discussion and hope its open to discuss other glitches too. I have another glitch id like to share and see if anyone else expeeienced it. I cant bulldoze some ploppables. When i am in a certain area that a road needs to go through, the road knocks down growables orbi use the bulldozer to remove ploppables.

    I have placed some small 1x1 power stations around the town when it was small with large unzoned open areas between patches of population mixture of res, some commercial and a few low industry. Now that the city is growing, some of these little monsters wont destroy. Ive got the same with a firestation. I can have five or so of the firestation plopped and one or two cant get torn down where the others of the same ploppable station can.

    Anyone else experience this? If so, were you able to figure a way to knock these down?

    I don't nessecarily believe this is a glitch but something doesn't add up...

    I tend to put toll booths at a few strategic points mainly on my highways. Usually I can get over 100% usage on them. So on one about a month after I built it I noticed it had 0 usage so I put the game on cheetah speed for a few months and watched it. I saw plenty of vehicles zooming through the booth yet when I clicked it again it still showed 0 usage. Is that normal or a glitch? (And yes before someone asks the obvious question the booth is powered!)

    Of all my y'ars playing SimCity, ive never noticed occupants in one resident going to work inside another resident. Has anyone else?

    Let me check the avg age or see if theres earlier snapshots. I could swear that house was there first (the receiving workers). I just zoned the house closest 55 the firestation . Bit i do know what you are talking about. When a bldg changes to something dlse the network will take a little bit of time to reroute. Will do some analysis on this.

    I have another "odd" job situation... (lets hope the hall monitors sees this post)..  This is an old community where the city has run several years (not months). and this is the second time I am noticing that occupants of one hose goes to work in another "house". There wasn't any modification to the lot such as it being a commercial or industry before plopping residential. This has always been residential.  Does anyone else get this in their game?  I think its rather neat, but just didn't know it could happen unless it was a downloadable plop where the ploppable was created with jobs.  These two are growable  homes.. Its happened with various other houses in my city.

    Ditto that! And you are right i checked the commute query box and its got to be one of the shortest commutes. The first pic with the two houses driving back and fourth, stopped after i bulldozed one . I waited like a simcityear and the maid just kept right on working. After the neighbors moved she now drives far into the city

    I posted similar question a while back. But I know that one of the house was a commercial building before I rezone into R. It takes up to 24 sim-months for the pathfinder to correct my problem.

    Thats whats a little "offb here. The road in the pic is from a never plopped area where I put in a country road or two thats near a county school. The only commercial or industry close enough but definitely not across the streed in distance are some old classic wooden power pole, a few bus stops and the school. Other homes in this area trecks to sork in the busstops schools or the nearby shopping strips.... ive run the game more than 50 simyears. Eaxh time I go back to check , its stil tracking "the maid route". I like it but like to see it change in realtime.

    Theres a busstop to the left of the two houses. Maybe the mapping of the pink lines are a bit off and it really is the bustop that the residents here work?

    Looks like some kind of strange pathfinding bug.  What version of the NAM are you running?

    Heres' where I no longer mind showing my "ignorance" now that Ive found the Moose Factory (knowing theres a chilled tall one waiting for me after  get laughed at....... here goes).

    Okay, I wasn't sure if I should startr a new thread or revive this one, but since my question asks about a glitch, I figured this one was the way to go.  So take a look at this.

    SimRico:  You should know from the download.  Don't you keep them?  If the NAM includes things automatically like SAM, then its V31.  Otherwise you probably have V30.

     

    FYI: I stuck a note in the NAM discussion thread about the document not specifying its version number.  Rather careless of them to never have done this, and now I think it is mandatory.

    That thing with people commuting to another person's house could be the result of the CAM, there is a feature in cam during installation where you can make 5% medium wealth people work in residential.  That would make what we see there logical.

     

    I would really be more concerned about the cows playing ont he railroad tracks in massive numbers like that, would probably derail a train with so many of them.

    2 of the Stadium issue glitch. I wouldn't mind two of them, while there aren't as many Major League parks on the STEX
