I think it's a bad idea to basically drop the beta on people on Friday if what you're saying is true. Because then you're making everyone download it on the same day instead of spreading the load out over the entire week.

They probably want everyone to do it all in one go for a stress test on the network & server(s). Its good idea in my opinion to make sure the servers can handle high load on initial release.

How is it even possible to do accurate bug spotting in an hour -_-

You can play from the 25th to the 28th, so that's 72 hours.

Your city will only last an hour, but you can play as long as you want to.

The 1 hour beta limit: Just means that your city resets after an hour - you can play it over and over all weekend if you want to. #simcity

My gues is that the hour limit is a gameplay limit.

But tbh that also implies we cannot test beyond an hour.

It doesnt matter if you can play longer if you cannot unlock everything to report in the 1st place

There's also another "dev" beta that is going on right now. People in this beta don't have the time restrictions and limitations that the upcoming weekend beta has. Besides marketing , this upcoming beta will most likely be used to stress test the servers.

Well, if you play on high speed right from the start you might get quite far, I think? Eszpecally after a few hours when you start your city for the tenth time you know quite well what to build where :P

You might be able to get a few small apartment buildings in an hour, but you'd have to be working super fast. The gameplay is very involved, you can't just mass zone and place a power plant like in SC4.

Login to Origin and click on "redeem product code". Then enter the beta key with the dashes and submit. That's it.

Here are some places you can try to get a key for the Beta this weekend (NVIDIA promotion):

https://www.facebook...410306975711618 <<< ONE GIVEAWAY REMAINING!

http://www.geforce.c...eals-promotions <<< NO MORE CODES!

Good luck!

Edit: judging by the comments on the NVIDIA Facebook page, the daily giveaway starts at (or just after) 17:30 GMT/18:30 CET/12:30 EST/9:30 PST each day. On Tuesday, all 1000 keys were given away in just 3 minutes.

For German fans, Amazon.de is offering Beta access if you pre-order SimCity before the 24th (either Limited Edition or Digital Deluxe, CD only): http://www.amazon.de...ASIN=B007HNZ62A

Ocean Quigley will be giving out some keys on Friday, via his Twitter: https://twitter.com/oceanquigley

My pleasure. LOL! I lied about my age, just in case, because the Terms state you must be 18 or over (I'm 17). Guessing that's because of all the legal stuff surrounding the EULA.

Cheers for the heads up...just got my Key. Nice one

No problem, enjoy the Beta!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the beta is just a 2 hour trail, right?

1 hour and you can repeat it as many times as you want.

So you can only play for a hour and then have to start over?? Maybe I'm weird but that wouldn't tell me or the developers much as in terms of overall gameplay or longevity, maybe this is on purpose, me thinks?? Hmmm?? hehe thanks for the response dude...

I'm pretty sure at this point they're just doing a stress test on the servers. They've had their "VIP Beta" going to a couple of weeks now. We're not really being used so much for finding bugs as much as we are server testing at this point.

Well according to some people the NVIDIA one ran out in 1 minute and 24 seconds...and I'm always late for them, so I have yet to snatch a key.

*sigh* Of course "space is extremely limited", EA is handing them out to NVIDIA and everyone else like free candy.

well, today I've received an e-mail where they said i was selected for the closed beta, and a code. I introduced it in the Origin and now i have this.

CYlVe5M.jpg

It says that the game "hasn't been published yet" and obviously i can't download it but.... I'm not sure, i didn't know this wasn't supposed to happen until friday :uhm:

The beta is only available in English. Try switching the Origin language to English.
