Yeah, they look incredible, paticulary the first one. Almost looks like San. Francisco in my opinion.

I'm hoping to be able to post a picture or two this coming week as well, based on how much time I have to play the game. Any request for what you'd like to see?

Is it possible to take a Google-earth style screenshot of a city that's been completed to get an idea of how big our cities can get.

Thanks.

Just a quick note... Merged several "New Screenshot" topics here to keep things more organized - and thought it might be fun to create a kind of "historical perspective" as things progress. There might be a little post jumbling early in the topic, but the later things should be okay. Thanks.

Wow, these screenshots are looking really good. The lots look really nicely detailed.

Love the reflection of the moon on the water.

I'd like to see a day in the life of a sim. What simcity looks like from the sims commute from their home, their lunch break, and the commute back from the inner city.

But to be honest, with screenshot as good as those, anything would be fantastic at the moment :D

I know I'd love to see anything that has to do with road/highway networks!

Ha ha, I had a feeling you'd be asking that. I'll try to capture a viaduct with networks crossing it, how about that?

I was wondering if one can built a beach on the coastline like in Simcity 4. It would be a shame if one cannot build beaches especially with such beautiful coastlines in this Simcity. Also, I believe I saw yellow taxis in the new strategy video. Are there taxis stands as well?

How about something involving the two transit options that have not had spotlighting. I am referring to the ferry and in city airports.

Sounds good to me!

The first image would have been so awesome if the green void is replaced with an actual city or an extension of the represented city. This is making me want to buy this, but its the damn green void. :(

The graphics are getting better--at least they aren't as cartoony as before. But what of the maps?

I really do want to like this game, as there are some features I do admire. But the map sizes are just too darn small. In just about every screenshot, excluding the ones show closer to the ground, you can see the no-man's land in the distance. A constant reminder of just one of the several limits this game puts on the player.

Found some new screenshots,

simcity_653621b.jpg

simcity_653611b.jpg

Looks pretty good.

Look carefully at that third screenshot...you can see where the wall of skyscrapers ends at the extent of the buildable area and the sea of empty green space begins. Ugh.

Agreed, looks pretty bad.. And it looks so small!

@Pandemic: What's so frustrating is that what's inside the bubble looks so great! I'm going to have to let it go because it doesn't seem to be something that's going to change, but I'm really aghast at the space left between city tiles. It feels like a step backwards.

It looks a little too bright, a little too flat (textured, as in no normal maps or bump maps), and a little unrealistic (random grass field, oddly proportioned assets, small build-able city size).

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I would like to see some train screenshots. Are there any huge train stations in the game like NY central or London's St Pancras?

I'd love to see some shots of the UI. For example, changing tax rates (once all of the proper city infrastructure buildings are in place).

The default train station looks a lot like the Amtrak one in Emeryville, just a block away from our office.

What I find most frustrating about these screenshots is that those who have prepared them clearly understand the issue, but are ignoring it in replies to fans.

In the first screenshot, they've lined up completely separate cities in the view and used water between them to explain the distance, suggesting the transition to suburbs that we would like to be able to build.

In the second screenshot, the CBD ends convincingly at the edge of a major body of water.

Worst of all, in the third screenshot the entire city appears to have been designed for this particular screenshot. Can you imagine viewing that city from the opposite side?

Their efforts to create realistic, visually appealing screenshots expose their willful silence on how these issues will look to the player.

Do you want to know what they'll look like without careful camera angle? Go to the official site www.simcity.com Wait for the multiplayer part to come on the screen. That's an actual in-game screenshot of a region...

1. some regional shots in detail and menus in region shots

2. how about some complex cities that are using different forms of architecture... or is it all 'american' cities?

3. railway stations

1. Some pictures from the region

2. Some pictures of medium sized cities, but not the casino one...Maybe industrail? But not just the industrial part, also residential.
