I believe I started that one way back but I never finished it (there's probably a pic in my thread somewhere), it wasn't very good tbh. Your version looks excellent though, I really like the glass bit at the base, I assume they redid the street frontage at some point the do that quite a bit around on towers around here.

Yet another one, awesome :3

Cool, this is different in my eyes, the base isn't a podium or is it really not? :P

I believe they retrofitted the base since it is much more modern than the rest of the tower. At least that's what it looks like on street level XD

Do you plan to make the Southern Cross Station?

If you see his very first post there is a list of his projects that are already completed or hopefully in the future, which includes SoCross Station.

On that note, there's an office building under construction on the flat roofed section towards the Docklands side. :D

Facade is great but really think the glass needs to be busier, same with the Collins St building, not sure what ground pane you're using but it makes it look a little too flat and opaque :)

Oh.. I'm soooo far behind on my replies ... :O

    Crown Metropol:

Roger - yeah this is going to be a tricky glass, it's mirrored glass so I deliberately made the reflections extra strong. I might need to try a blurred ground plane or something. (As suggested by Toothless Stitch.. aka Skyscraper?? :P )

Twrecks - good pick up on the flags. I just put those there as a placeholder from another BAT but forgot to update the actual flags. I will do something with the white sections as well so the materials look more textured.

Noah, I sent you a PM... thanks for the offer I'd be very happy to use your textures thanks! :thumb:

    Everyone else, thanks! :D

    PWC Tower:

Earthbuilder - I use 3ds Max 2012. They are rendered using Mental Ray.

Konstantin - what Twrecks said :read: .. hehe.. but I think you might have missed a key point anyway. Much of the beauty of these structures comes from ground level looking up and seeing the elegant trusses sweeping up into the lotus blossums, but you won't see any of that in the game angle. All you'll see is gardens hovering above the city and large shadows cast over the rest of the city... these structures are very beautiful but I don't think they will translate into very nice BATs. ps. You're one of the requesters who wanted me to make Metropol and you didn't even comment on it when I did  !! :P

Roger & A_ - yes agree, I need to tone the reflections down on this one just a bit

    Everyone else, thanks :D

    459 Collins Street:

Actually I've already replied to that one.. but thanks for the comments on that one too :D

    360 Collins Street:

Jmsepe - no you're right this one isn't on a podium, it does have a low rise structure at the back of the building but I think I'm going to leave this off, it will have a more compact base than normal.

Jojje - I tend to make a few BATs at a time, partly to break the boredom as Xander said, I'm definitely an addict as Tony observed  :P , but actually it's because having a break from each one for a little while means I can look at them more objectively and see what needs fixing. Yes, you have to wait longer to get them, but the quality should be better when you do get them :)

Kimha - actually, sadly, I already made Southern Cross Station a while ago on my laptop when I was sick in bed for a few days, but when I tried transferring it to my proper BATing PC the model came out looking like a spiny sea urchin :( so either I need to finish it on my laptop, or make it again... Tbh It doesn't make a very nice BAT, again, most of its beauty is viewed from eye level.. I will get to it again but its probably not high on my priority list :)

Gutterclub, thanks yes I think you're right about the glass, except its not the ground plane that's the problem, its the same ground plane as Metropol and PWC Tower which are a bit too strong and busy. So either i have the reflection colour set too dark or the IOR is too low. Not sure I'll keep playing with it.

    Thanks everyone else :D

Not sure if anyone was bothered reading any of that

Hopefully have another BAT update tomorrow :)

I admit, it is a beutiful building, but you really can't force someone to take a request. You make the request, the BATter decides wether to take it or not. Also, as mentioned above, it's already been made.

Nope. I fully understand your idea but I think reddon doesn't really take requests as he mainly focuses on Australian buildings from his own preference. He is kind enough to tell you he loves this building, but may never find time to make it. :)

If you have not realised reddon's works are all based in Australia. The way you are saying it also sounds like you are commanding him to do it, at least ask politely if you're going to request something.

    Looks much better Red!!!

Great work on the remodeling of the building, Its seems a little shorter than the previous version?

The roof changes are nice, however, I did prefer the previous antenna. They seem a bit too skinny now.

The roof textures seem far to clean to me, and need the grime and dirt from the previous version. The tower texture I thinks needs to be a tad more grey.

The base looks awesome, great changes!! My only kinda criticism, is it could use a bit less glossy textures.

I will try (when I get back on my office comp) is do all this on one of the pics. So it's easier to understand.

I kinda liked how the glass on the protrusions was clear and let you see inside, even if it wasn't that realistic.

I agree with Roger, though. The roof textures need some more work, and to be honest I actually like the grimier/more industrial nature of the old model's roof junk better, though again I'm not sure how realistic it was. I've almost never seen the building in photos until you BATted it.

The base, though...man what an improvement! Again, though, the glossy textures are a bit much.

Thanks for all those helpful (fast!) and nice comments :thumb:

Roger - This tower isn't shorter, but it is wider. I've been a lot more accurate with the scaling this time, especially on the base. I was about to agree the antenna needs to be fatter, but then I just measured it, it's pretty close how it is. I've rescaled just a bit wider on one length, I'll re-post an update once I rework the textures. The roof textures need to be less bright and more contrast, its giving the impression of being too clean. On the facade I went for a warmer grey this time than the cooler grey of before. I prefer the warmer tones, and usually goes better with the game palette. Totally agree the base is a bit too glossy, that was one of the things I noticed as well.

APSMS - Thanks re the base. The base was one of the main things I didn't like about the first one. Its especially noticeable how bad it was now you see the two versions together. I didn't like the overly grungy feel of the original antenna, I always thought it looked rusted, however the current version, while from images looks more accurate, looks like its too brand new. I need to find something in-between.

Weixc - Yes, I'll probably release a diagonal prop, but I won't lot it :)

requests go in the request section. Also, there's a list at the first page of this thread where red has listed the buildings he's made and are planning to make. :)
