Has anybody made RCI pilings?

All good waterfront cities have buildings, roads, rails and other good stuff on pilings over the water - there are entire cities on pilings. When I am trying to make a decent port or other waterfront area, I always run into trouble at the waterfront. Straightening it to accommodate what I want to build doesn't look very realistic.

All the filler lots can't be built on and/or are already filled in. Does anybody make pilings that act like unused land? I'm talking about pilings I could build the city of Venice on. I'm not finding any, but it seems like someone would endeavor to do that. It changes the entire game when working with waterfront cities.

Hmmm... You might look at OWW2 set, that addresses to your problem exactly.

It's another great set by Pegasus, so great quality is guaranteed. :)

Why do you need pilings? You can't see them IRL, they're the underground foundations of buildings built on unstable soil, like sand or mud or peat.

Well just having empty pilings there, then you build on them, kinda defeats the purpose. You can't see them anyways. But, for people doing serious or realistic CJ's, I could see a created lot, that has old pilings out of the water, or maybe a demolished pier, to show damage after a storm or hurricane. Almost like the cosmetic pieces of industrial lumber and blight that came out some time ago (read it on Simtrop, but don't recall its creator..). But again, building on top of cosmetic pieces (if you can) would hide them and ruin the effect anyways.

If you are doing a city like Venice, which I believe is small islands, it may be time consuming, but terraform a map with very small islets, then lighty pop up some spits or jetties of land (need a steady hand,,) then apply one of the variety of embankment sets, or causeways, or wall sets that is here in the STEX. It will give it the look of being totally on the water (no land showing...), and maybe give you the desired effect.

If you want to build a venice-like city, don't even bother with game water, just use MMP as water.

I've made a city with canals, but not really venice-like:

The water is PEGs Lake Tahoe ploppable water. Ploppable water can be laid in any direction, size and orientation. It can be found in this pack: http://www.simpeg.co...a=view;down=432

In the city itself I used the Rural Marina Set by murimk for the canal edges.

To see it in action, click spoiler.

Very nice indeed.

There is a building in the Halifax harbour, an example of "Upper Canadian glass right down to the waterline", that actually has pilings holding one end of the building out of the water. Doing a BAT for this one might be fun. You can clearly see the pilings from the Dartmouth ferry.

I'm looking for pilings that act as blank land that I can build anything on, just like dry land. The OWW2 RCI boardwalk can be built on water, but it can't be built on - it's entirely for show. I would rather use the in-game water, rather than the ploppable stuff.

That's just straight-up impossible; There's no known way to have a lot (or growable) on top of a lot, unless the two are combined into one. You could have a lot item that is exactly what you're describing, but when you want to zone on top of it, you MUST destroy it first.

The closest thing you can EVER get to that is through terraformation and the OWW that everyone has brought up. Or use ploppable water. Through that, you can make it look like there are pilings that surround a lot, but that's just it: They have to surround it, not be directly on top of zoning, or below it, or in the way.

And here's a really crude example:

One addition to that: Many embankment sets have these underbridge extender lots. They are a 1x1 lot, with not only embankment on the lot itself, but also 2 blocks to the left or right. You can place lots in those empty parts to make it look like they're directly on the waterfront.
