Possibly tornado near Tottenham, Ontario, Between Orangeville and New Market, south of New Tecumseth (aka Alliston). Weather network has a video. Could just be a funnel cloud, unsure if it touched down or not. To the north, Barrie had damaging winds.

At my location, we have had really strong wind up to 117km! It has started to ease off now thankfully, as it has been really cold here! (since it is Winter here in Australia).

Yesterday was a mixed bag.  Cloudy all day with a thunderstorm in the afternoon, high winds, torrential rain.  One power bump that put me off the air but wasn't even noticed by my most sensitive clocks.

 

Yesterday's EF1 is confirmed at New Tecumseth.  Ground path 10 Km.  Some destruction of farm gear.

 

Today we have 18 C with humidex 23.  Isolated showers expected.

In Gujarat, the drought has been hitting us hard. I am in Surat, where a monsoon deficit of over 80% has been seen.

 

Hope the 2015 monsoon doesn't fail on India.

Well, the El Nino is leading farmers in the area to suicide. Not far from where my family is from, in Telangana, one village with a population of around 500 people saw the suicides of 3 indebted farmers. So let's hope the El Nino comes back to Asia and gives us the rains we need.

The polar vortex has nothing to do with this cold spell. It's just a dip in the jet stream due to the typhoon hitting/that hit Japan.

Polar vortex is the latest media buzz phrase.  It is a piece of meteorological jargon that should never have been allowed out of its cage.  What we are having is indeed a little dip in the jet stream.  Cool tonight (11) but back to the 20s, tomorrow and the rest of the week.

In Bhopal now and they havn't seen rain in weeks. I heard farmers are migrating to cities to make a better livelihood.
