SC4 Deluxe Realistic Weather and Lighting

For some reason I am unable to download the Realistic Lighting and Weather Mod.  When I press download, it just come up with the files and I can't do anything else after that.  Is there something I need to do beside just pressing download?  Thank you for your help.

It sounds like your browser might be opening the zip file rather than offering the option to save it.

(You might want to read the full description of the mod as it's the sort of upload that happens about once per year like on this exact day.)

As @CorinaMarie said, if the zip file (or any file) is opening directly from downloading, it'll be due to a default browser setting for Open instead of Save. This likely happens when it downloads to a temporary location as determined by a set preference, and then instructs the system to open it from there.

Here's some info on how to configure this behaviour for common browsers:

• Firefox
• Chrome
• Internet Explorer
• Edge
• Safari
• Opera

Once you've got a file saved to a folder of your choice, it can then be moved to another place if you'd like. Some people like to have a "SC4 Downloads" folder to store them, and then to extract (copy) the contents into your Plugins folder. The zips don't get read by the game unless copying the files out, so just remember to do that. For some items of content such as prop and texture dependencies, they come as installers. These need to be run separately which then place the necessary files in Plugins.
