Hello folks!

Here is an update on Beijing Silver tower.

I've finished most of the modeling. Just the ground floor and lobby are left...

Have to more or less invent them since none picture shows either of them clearly and from different sides..

here are left / front /right / back views of the building

left.jpgfront1.jpgright.jpgback1.jpg

and here are two approximations of the way it should show-up in game (about zoom 5 may be a bit more...)

ST-BJ32.jpg

ST-BJ34.jpg

I still have to think what I should put on roof...

And then some texturing, not much though... mostly I'll try to use materials, and see what will come out if it...

And then lighting...

So I recon I'm half way through. But then again this is a first experiment and I have no idea if I'll have problems rendering it, as I hear many people have.

Well, first you will have to live with my little interruption. 3.gif

ppmarriottplopa16as.jpg

This little rectangular, colourful fellow up there shows what can be done with the upcoming JW Marriott Hotel, first part of Pacific Place. This is a rather tight configuration. Take a look at a different perspective:

ppmarriottplopa22ym.jpg

I used jeronij's diagonal park lots with fences, the diagonal filler tile from the HKABT Central Plaza download, and some boring Maxis plazas to whip up a quick and dirty filling around the building.

With a slightly wider configuration, things can look like this:

ppmarriottplopb10hs.jpg

Different angle:

ppmarriottplopb25vd.jpg

I am sure that some of you will be able to come up with waaaaay nicer layouts, especially if you use custom park lots like those diagonal trail parks by jeronij or the recently uploaded urban beautification pack 2 by soldyne and similar stuff.

Then again, there will also be a regular growable version that sits on a 6x6 lot. I tried to make the lot a bit interesting, because such a large amount of open space would look stupid if it is too empty. Here's the result, first at day from one viewing angle...

...then at night from a different one:

And here is a little detail shot:

ppmarriottdetail2qg.jpg

Well, how many dependencies do you see? Yessir, that's right: None, nothing, nada, zilch, null. There's not even a dead mosquito in the pool that's not Maxis default! Do you like it so far? 10.gif

@T Wrecks: The ploppable is great, I can't wait to try things out with it. The growable looks good, but the palm trees seem to clash with the surrounding flora too much for my liking (but then again, I don't like palms trees at all, so it might be just me). Also, the textures around the pools on the ground seem a little bit "busy" (ie: too many different textures all together or are they a part of the associated props?).

@ The whole HK/Asia BAT Team: Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to making such excellents BATs/Lots.
