Looks Like We Need to Start a Simtropolis Guild

Multi-player isn't going anywhere, it's here to stay. With that in mind, I want to do multiplayer with people who are passionate about their cities and the quality of them. Honestly, I don't have any "real world" friends who are interested in playing and if they were, I know they wouldn't have honed the craft of city simulation like you gents.

It'd be neat to have a "guild" of all of us who are not only passionate about city building, but also those who are willing to group up. Thoughts?

I don't know if you have the option to choose who your neighbours are. But if you do, making a region with your RL friends or SimCity community members seems like an optimum choice for the likes of us.

They have said several times "play with your friends". Lucy even said "control an entire region by yourself or play with your friends". To me friends doesn't imply total strangers.

Ideally, players should be able to play their cities 'offline', and upload it through the game to SimCity.Com for others to admire (think City Journals but fully exploreable). Furthermore, if the uploader so desires, they could allow other players to download individual cities, or possibly even edit it on the server. This could be further expanded to allow an uploader to choose which other players can see or edit individual cities, e.g. for collaborations. With built-in voice chat, of course!

Anyway, in reference to the actual topic, it sounds like a good idea. I'm in, so long as I have upgraded my PC by February 2013 or whenever. Roadgeeks forever!

@tomfoolery_79: I can empathise with you, none of my friends are likely interested in pursuing the art of realistic city simulation, nor would they allow me to talk their ears off about 'boring' roads and railways. At least I'm aiming to make it a career!

I'm not sure there is such a way now that I opened my mouth. However, we will just have to keep track of this thread and add user names manually when the game comes out. Mods a sticky perhaps?

We'll need to work out how the game's multiplayer features work before planning anything serious. Also, several people may not be pre-ordering or buying the game instantly (including me), so that fact needs to be taken into account.

Just edit your first post and write names in there. A sticky would be good though
