Hi Jason, I think you have some neat models that you are working on so I just wanted to pop in and say 'great job'. It may be too late, but for my two cents, I would suggest that you render the conservatory as a separate prop. That way you could have some houses with the addition, and some without. Variety is the spice of life, and I think Lotters would find more ways to use these great models if you gave them the additional freedom. Thanks, and great work so far.

These are some really great BATs. I would echo Simcoug's suggestion re. rendering the conservatory as a separate prop. That would be well cool. Keep up the good work

SimCoug : Seems like a great idea, maybe I will do that after finished with this one.

Matt : Thank you for the comment

libellicus : I also agree with SimCoug and IL and thank you for the comment.

Gn_Leugim : I have some roof junks, but they fit much better with midrise offices roof, not a house. So, I just add a small chimney.

IL : Residential pack ? I already start with another 6-8 houses, and all of them came from the same place with this one.

IL : Great job with your first SBT upload !

The house is looking great! :) However, are you sure you want to keep the modeled ground around it? I'm wondering because this will make the building less flexible when it comes to lotting.

It looks great, but I think you should make that dark wall in the right view, abit thicker, or make it's texture a bit lighter.

Other than that, your BATs are great :D

    and thanks

Gn_Leugim : I thought you were talking about an empty roof. Sorry, my misunderstanding.

T Wrecks, SimCoug : Actually, I make two versions, one with the brick floor, and the other one without.

IL : How about the wall right now ? Looks better ?

For some reasons, I can't use the manual lights, so I must use the maxis default for the nightlights of the house. Btw, for the garage and the external lights, I'm still able to use the omni. Previews :

(The second version that doesn't have most of the floor though the floor around the garage is still exist)

I don't know why, but every time I try to get the preview from the right side at night, that problem with the garage is happened and I can't solve this problem. Anyone has an idea about what cause it and how to solve it ?

Yes, it does, but what would make it even better, is if you add a white edge to the top of it, like the rest of the roof :thumb:

The only problem is, I try to make it as similar as possible with the real one, just look at page 8, there is no white edges around the garage. Another that, I already make the garage to become the end of the gutter/that white edge.

Btw, do you have any idea about how to solve the light problem ?

I put the night on the middle of the garage, but the result of the rendering of the first version is the light located behind the location where it should be. while the second version's render shows the light's position is in the front of the location where it should be, how could these displacements happened ?

And one more question, how could the rendering from the east side cause this problem while it is not happened with any of the other sides ?

I would actually remove the light from the garage altogether (you can see reflecting very harshly on the back wall), and, remove the batted ground as it will give the model greater flexibility once in game.

Hi Jason, small thing I spotted, perhaps you did so too. The flat-roof textures blend together in the left and back views eventough they are at different levels. This makes it hard to see how the 3d model looks from that angle. Perhaps a more profound edge or (slightly-) different texture colours for the different levels could be an easy fix.

Not sure I'm not good with night lights, but try to make your whole house in one group (after deleting that light), then change the x and y to 0s, then put your light back, and see what happens, that should solve it I guess?

How do you make the lights only functional at night btw? I try to add _nite to the lights, but it doesnt work, they still work during the day.

remove the batted ground as it will give the model greater flexibility once in game.

I very much agree with this one.

IL : Never mind, just realize if uncheck the "cast shadow" fix the problem after two weeks. And to make the light become functional at night only, make the lights name become "nitelite_", like "nitelite_omni01". Note : the "n" word shouldn't capitalized, or it will works during daytime as well.

Matt : Actually, I find another better solution to that, simply uncheck the "cast shadow" does the trick.

Wouter : Thank you for spotting that one. That little issue has been fixed now.

I didn't realize if the cause of the light problem is just a simple thing called "cast shadow". Two weeks just to know if the problem is that one, what a shame.

    They do look good.

However, I have a question. Why did you make this prop pack and upload it separately? What does it enable people to do that they couldn't do otherwise, and what advantage does it offer?

I'm asking because especially the BSC has developed a tendency to use prop packs in ways that don't always make much sense and only creates unnecessary hassle and data overhead, and I wouldn't like to see more people jump on that bandwagon.

    I have to agree here.

Also, most players will make the props if they need them, given they have the models, and they have the models only with the residential one (or vice-versa)

    Gn_Leugim : Thank you.

T Wrecks, Gn_Leugim : Why ? Because both things they contain two different things. The BAT Props include some models (more than one) and a test lot. The other download only include the desc and the lot of the Hoflaan 52 ONLY, and not any other model. Actually, if they want to make those models become growable, still, they must make the lot and the desc by themselves. What I do is just uploading the models, and only use ONE of those house models and the others are not lotted. The BAT Props actually contains the Hoflaan 52 model+bonus models. Any other question ?

    libellibicus : Thank you.

    SimRico : You're welcome !

    And about my next BAT.

Well, is the model also included in the download for the normal growable house? Or do you need to download the lot & desc for the growable house and then the prop pack as an additional download file to get the model?
